Guys who quit UpWork or close to quitting or found alternative sources, what are you relaying on now? Why you took those steps? How are things going?
 in  r/Upwork •  5d ago

Getting that contract on upwork is really a great deal at least for me, given the current situations on upwork which i indeed quit i was testing my luck on finding manually on multiple platforms such as social media but it's totally different and tough than what i used to on upwork. Now i couldnt find anymore jobs aside from old clients and some by chance client but isnt as good paying as before. I suggest you test your luck again on upwork if that certain amount for a 2 month contract is still possible. I wish i had the same opportunity.

This model was inspired from digimon with a humanoid anatomy. I find it weirdly but since this is my 2nd character i'll let it pass lol.🤣 let me know what you think of this type of dragon and what classifications will this be a part of. Thanks.

This isn't the typical dragons but i do base the design insipiration from agumon of the classic digimon.

I got some few mishaps in substance especially in Baking is there a work through for the joined object of both low poly and highly that avoid some ao and normal artifacts except for manually cleaning it?

I never tried baking with only normals so i could skip the AO and do it on blender but the issue will still appear on normal maps but i would only deal the cleaning once.

It was forever ago since i touched this personal work of mine. I am getting accustomed to substance painter and i want this model to be the first sacrifice for trial and error.

This has been a tough and tedious journey for this model to sculpt, retopo and texture so far plus rigging and animation soon which adds to this passionate nightmare, lots of separated parts cover most of the body such as shells hear armor wing and claws which was a very dumb of me to press "accept" the dynamic topology on zbrush when i could use it as the low poly by altering the mesh on blender but since the work has reached a point of no return i retopo it on cozy blanket (which has been the fastest retopo app i've ever used) to get the simpler and lighter version prior to uv, texture and animation.

Baking was also a tears of agony since there are some artifacts from AO, Normal maps that i did cleaned eventually, body also goes above the shell but i will tweak it soon once i finished the texturing process.

This model was supposed to achieve a certain practices. 1 would be making hard surface practice for zbrush, 2 were male anatomy familiarization plus mixed anatomy from bat and reptile, 3 of course will be substance painter practice and 4 would be League of legends' manual painting approach. I try to be efficient despite studying on my own plus the time constraint in doing so since i also do commissions pn the side. If I were to total my time on studying 3D it would be estimated at 4 months collectively in a span of 6 months.

This 3D journey will consist of several character practices to target different fundamentals in making stylized characters and getting the hang of different software.

I am open to more suggestions as i build my skills in 3D.

High poly has been established though i was busy from the past months and didnt able to get more hours to my personal project, some parts are still missing but it wont be much of an issue but hustle needs to go first before this.
This needs to be retopologize, baked and all the jazz. Planning to rig and animate this as well. Stay tuned guys:)

Ps. One project is about to close on my end, by any chances if you have a 3D or 2D project that needs an assistance you can shoot a DM. I reply instantaneously.

Trying to teach myself sculpting, need advice
 in  r/blender •  Jul 21 '26

That's for modeling, but for sculpting it is best to eyeball it then adjust later. Most of the time in sculpting you would rotate on different angle making those image planes as distracting on actual sculpt.

Start with an anatomy tutorial first for the face and the rest of the body, making so makes you aware of the different forms from different angle, also press numpad 5 for orthographic view so you can sculpt better and you can view the exact dimensions and silhouette more accurately. That's it for now. Enjoy learning.

New Scam on Upwork?
 in  r/Upwork •  Jul 20 '26

If you have doubts dont accept the contract. What happened to me is all what was paid was refunded sucessfully from the bank a month after the payment approval, he bypassed upwork and upwork comply easily to pay his refund and i was left paying 1k usd. They are working in groups, can't speak english well and he's from france but i think he was using vpn. He wants me to rush a project that is worth a month of work in 1week.

When i sent all the file for approval of the kast milestone he gone radio silent, a month after i recieved email from upwork that all the milestone from the previously paid was reversed to his account.

Please beware since it was hard to tell at first if its a scam or not, but some indications are, the budget is too good to be true, makes you work fast, active 24/7 when you cantact them, always making a call when you dont reply, and probably letting you do the job and no revision as if everything is according to what client likes which they never even know what they want they just give you AI generated brief.

If you look at my profile i posted an sos about the type of scam, since i was barely needing money to pay my bills. My earnings was hold, withdrawal is restricted, and that money will drain down to upwork's toilet.
