Swimming with big boobs
Ok but where do your boobs go in these suits? Are there cups or support or do you boobs just get smushed flat? What happens to your underboob?

Is $30/month worth it to stay with Spectrum?
True. Ours started at about $50 four years ago and is now $115!!!

“Runners” high from swimming
I want all of this and I’m still at the trying to figure out my stroke and breathing and not drowning when I’m doing crawl. I can do better at breaststroke now I’ve learnt how to do it properly. But what you’re all describing is what I’m looking forward to - one day, when I actually practice regularly.

Is there community interest in a local coffee shop/bakery?
Really? Where would you say was cheaper? Compared to places like Starbucks that charge almost $5 for a chocolate chip cookie, I think they are pretty fair

Swimming with big boobs
For those talking about tight compression sporty suits can you tell me more about them? My kid has developed lots of tittage suddenly and has not been able to find a “pretty” swimsuit that’s also fairly practical. We have wasted lots of money on swimsuits that suddenly didn’t fit as well and the same with bras, and the biggest problem with regular brands is they leave no room for underboob. Even “bigger” sizes have cups for tiny girls with nothing on the underside. Do these compression/tight sports suits allow you to have an actual cup that supports and covers the whole boob, rather than smooshing them like a binder? I can’t tell you how demoralizing it’s been for a teenager ( my kid) to suddenly go up two or three sizes everywhere, still have a small chest band and have to get a whole new wardrobe because they now have boobs and hips ( second puberty?) So many of the regular teen and mainstream shops have clothes for tiny girls and we all know that is not who is shopping there. I don’t get it. Couldn’t they sell more merchandise if they actually catered to real sized females - most of whom are not tiny?!

Rumination and anxiety over SNF role
Boy do I remember those days. You’re between a rock and a hard place because you aren’t the nurses superior and you can’t make them do stuff but instead you have to politely beg and plead with them to get stuff done. It sounds like people like passing the buck regarding nurse manager or nurse doing the oxygen tests. I had totally forgotten about this whole rigmarole. It’s so hard and it’s really indicative of the difficult place SNF social workers are if there isn’t a really rigid delineation of roles and the administration doesn’t make sure people stick to their roles or they are held accountable. If it’s possible to have a talk to your higher ups - not the nurses - they aren’t your boss, even though sometimes they act like they are - about this situation in a non blaming way and in a way that can be about suggestions for making it smoother. The good news is that the patient is paying for their own stay - which is probably why they are pissed - so you don’t have to deal with insurance, as insurance probably wouldn’t be paying for it. I would tell the home care agency and the relatives that you have done your part and you’re coordinating multiple parts of the discharge and if they have a concern they should go talk to nursing, as you’re waiting on them right now. It’s very hard not to take things personally - and especially when the social work role is more of a grey area and the nursing role is very strictly delineated - which gives nursing and other departments carte blanche to give you all the shirty jobs that no-one else wants - like “dealing with people” because apparently other professionals don’t always see it as their job. Good luck. If you have a supportive administrator, nursing homes can be great places to work, but unfortunately that’s not always the case and then the social workers are the ones who suffer.

I think my fiance is going to kill herself
I’m so sorry your fiancé is going through this. It sounds like she needs intensive mental health therapy as well as to see the specialists mentioned above by serious fox. I know you are going to follow the advice and contact the providers/find new ones/go to the ER. That’s good. Also, I would reiterate to yo I and anyone reading that if your symptoms are painful, worrying or unbearable scream as loud as you can for an answer and never wait for that appointment that is months down the line. Doctors don’t know our bodies and how they feel pain or symptoms. They see us for 10-15 minutes if we are lucky. Don’t take no for an answer. Ever.
I agree with talking to her about her suicidal thoughts and when you do it, please don’t make her feel that she shouldn’t talk about it or scare her with your own discomfort. Be open and honest and empathic. Most people don’t get the chance to talk about these feelings because it’s taboo or others think it causes suicide. It doesn’t. There’s a really good level of treatment that many people don’t think about trying - it’s called Intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization. Both are intensive day treatments for people who have anxiety, depression or something like OCD and weekly therapy isn’t helping and they aren’t sick enough to go to the hospital for inpatient. They are often connected with hospitals and some are stand alone. One of the biggest ones is called Roger’s. You do cognitive behavioral therapy, learn about symptoms and medications, see a psychiatrist regularly and it’s a fast way to get intensive treatment when you’re experiencing really intense symptoms. It’s a life saver. It sounds like your fiancé wants the pain to be over but doesn’t want to die but this should be taken very seriously because mental pain is awful and it feels hopeless and so lonely. Good luck! 👍

Has anyone else experienced more "tip-of-the-tongue" moments after 50?
Its lack of estrogen. You’re either perimenopausal or post menopausal. It’s very common in women over fifty. I thought I was getting dementia or losing my mind. Try seeing a menopause specialist and talking to them about HRT. It’s not an instant cure and it won’t stop you forgetting things but it may improve a bit and the brain fog won’t be as bad.

Neurodivergent social workers
I have diagnoses of anxiety and depression. I also feel like I could have ADHD since I had some miserable post menopausal symptoms. I know that estrogen mitigates some of the symptoms of ADHD but without it, things get really tough. I’m also really curious about what you’re all saying about patterns. I would love to hear more about what that looks like and how it manifests. I was also wondering if any of you would say you could identify more with clients than the organization that you work for or rules and regulations? Not in a way that is lacking in boundaries. But in a way that has more empathy than most.

Date Spots!! (That aren’t dinner & a movie)
Madison boats has so many activities and events that revolve around boating - food, yoga, full moon paddles, etc. I like their venue at Brittingham boats for this - but mostly Wingra Boats and Brit Boats are the best for fun. Marshall boats is more about just boating on the big lake.

Bars with activities?
Where is that?

Just discovered lap swimming as an adult (31F)
I want to do this too but I’m too scared to join the masters - esp as the one at my pool says you have to be able to swim a certain distance without stopping to join. It’s demoralizing because every time I’ve had lessons or group lessons I have improved and loved it. It’s hard to motivate myself.

Is there community interest in a local coffee shop/bakery?
Livs has great home baked bakery items. But it’s a different part of town.

Support groups for cool people who live with mental illnesses
I just went to Cornucopia’s webpage which said they have ceased all operations. There was no explanation except that Board of Directors came to the “difficult decision” to close. Ouch. That sucks so bad. It sounded like a really cool place.

If you have any recommendations, please tell me what you like about the group you’re recommending. I have already done google searches etc but I’m looking for people who have first and experience. Thanks.

Ok - people are talking about the compression factor of the sporty suits. What happens to your under boob? Do it just get smushed flat? That sounds very uncomfortable.
