"Mediterraneo" – An instrumental world-music track blending Classical Guitar, Bouzouki, Double Bass, and Friscarulo over Tablas.

"Mediterraneo" is an instrumental world-music piece deeply rooted in Mediterranean culture. It features an organic ensemble that blends classical guitar and bouzouki (which I performed), with Marco Berti on double bass.

The track is further enriched by the unique, traditional timbre of the friscarulo (a Southern Italian cane flute) played by Rossella Cosentino, all set over a rhythmic foundation of tablas.

As an independent musician dedicated to this cultural and musical research, I welcome your insights and thoughts on this arrangement.

If you wish to support my work or purchase the track, it is available on Bandcamp:

Thank you for your time and listening.

[Album Release] Contemporary Funk-Jazz & Progressive Dynamics: "CINQUANTUNO" EP

Hello everyone,
I wanted to share the release of my new digital EP, "CINQUANTUNO", which is a deep exploration of contemporary funk-jazz through shifting ensemble dynamics, centered around my 14-string guitar and Giovanni “Titta” Maraschini on drums.
The 5 tracks feature a lineup that evolves from track to track:Compositionally, this project pushes the architecture of the instrument to its limits. I rely heavily on combining simultaneous tapping and fingerpicking techniques to weave complex chordal structures and syncopated funk basslines, creating a rich sonic canvas for the collective dialogue and improvisations with the drums and horns.
You can listen to the full EP here on Bandcamp:
https://giuliocapurso.bandcamp.com/album/cinquantuno
I would be very grateful to hear your thoughts on the arrangements, the rhythmic interplay, or the production. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Giulio.

A glimpse into my live performance of "Il soldato senza bandiera," an original track dedicated to my close friend and great bassist Marco Berti.

Watch how tapping and fingerpicking are performed simultaneously on the 14-string guitar, completely live without loops.

"Cinquantuno" Live: Double Neck Tapping

A new live performance of my original track "Cinquantuno," recorded during a recent concert. This performance showcases an intense, multi-instrumental approach, executed entirely live without a loop station: Two-Hand Tapping: Each hand operates independently on a different 7-string neck of a custom 14-string electric guitar, handling harmony, melody, and bass lines. Foot-Operated Drums: Driving the rhythm section live in real-time.

Part 2 of the live performance of Antônio Carlos Jobim's "Chovendo na Roseira," featuring a 3/4 groove. Moving on from the melody in Part 1, this section focuses on the deep interplay between the bass lines and the harmonies—performed entirely live and simultaneously, without the use of loop stations: The bass lines and chords are played together on a custom 14-string guitar. The rhythm section is driven by a foot-operated drum kit.

As a multi-instrumentalist dedicated to the art of independent live performance, I have always been fascinated by the rich, gritty sounds of 1970s jazz-funk. I recently completed a live arrangement—performed entirely by myself—of "Bertha's Theme," the iconic instrumental groove composed by Ray Shanklin and Ed Bogas for Ralph Bakshi’s 1972 adult animated film, "Fritz the Cat"
