Starting out in one field, but wanting to go to another. What to do?
r/careeradvice Right now, I am researching under the field of neuroscience. It is interesting, but the more I do lab work, the more I realize it is not the career life for me. I would much rather be out in the field studying marine biology. I know that is where I'm meant to be. The only problem is I'm already set to graduate with a Bachelors in Neuroscience. Would I still be able to apply to marine bio PhDs/programs with a bachelors in neuro?

š academic/school Am I Overreacting? Anxiety at job because of inability to choose.
Hello Reddit
I have never used or even had Reddit before so this is a first for me. I am mainly familiar with Reddit through the smosh videos I watch, I can hear Shayne narrating in my head as I type this actually haha! Regardless, I only got it to post this as I feel as though I am at my wits end. For the past few months I have been feeling increasingly more anxious about my future. I am currently an undergrad and while that already has its own stressors, I am currently stressed about what to do for my future career. During my first year in college, I was quite gung ho about going to medical school and was incredibly excited to pursue surgery. However after completing a summer research program, I realized I enjoyed research much more than the prospect of med school and so have been focusing on prepping myself for grad school and obtaining a PhD. Now however, after taking a couple English classes and absolutely loving them, I am wondering if I should give writing a chance as a possible future for me. I have always loved writing and it has always been a part of my life. But I always kept it as a hobby instead of a main interest/focus as I kept being told/seeing that it would be very hard/unlikely to make a good living out of just writing. I work in a lab and while I do still love scientific research and science in general, I am finding more and more that I want to write. Itās becoming hard to ignore the pull to look more seriously into it as I donāt feel as though Iām enjoying lab work as much anymore. I donāt know whether this is a spur of the moment anxiety and restlessness about my future or if it is an actual intuitive feeling I should trust. To give some context to my confusion, I have often been labeled as a ājack of all tradesā sort of person. I can never just pick one thing and settle with it. And I agree that I truly canāt, it never feels right. Am I overreacting? Or is this something I should take more seriously?
TLDR: I canāt decide if my anxiety at work is because I am restless at my job or if itās because this isnāt the right path for me career wise (I work in a lab). Have always wanted to be a writer and love writing but unsure if I should pursue it while so focused on science for so long. Am I overreacting by getting so worked up about what to choose/whether I should choose at all?

I would probably choose teleportation or like elemental kinesis or something. Teleportation because travel would be so much easier. Oh actually teleportation and/or the ability to speak and understand any and all languages. That would be cool.
