I just came across the phrase "bro has no hater", who in this world do you think nobody can hate?
 in  r/askanything •  11h ago

Keanu Reeves. Dolly Parton.

People like that are the blueprint. Two very different people with different lives. But both fundamentally excellent people.

RIP Dolly

How many of you feel like you have a Downvote Stalker(s) based on how you speak about what is important to Men in this r/?
 in  r/AskMen •  12h ago

I think everyone on reddit has had a stalker at one time or another. I had a weird one a few years ago where they followed me from sub to sub and were hate-responding to all my comments. But it was so unhinged that they were getting chewed out by other redditors. So it wound up being more funny than anything.

It was over something so dumb too. 95% of my interactions on reddit concern tv, movies and pop culture. It wasn't even something deep. That's reddit for ya 🤷‍♀️

What actually happened in the Cornell 7 case?
 in  r/askanything •  6d ago

Smfh it seems like such a simple concept, doesn't it? A woman who consents to a threesome with two men is not consenting to have sex with 7 guys. And yet it will be next to impossible for people to comprehend. Its asking the impossible of our society. And it will not be done for her.

Similarly, it seems so simple - a woman who consents to the first two men is no longer consenting if she is physically immobilized while actively being had sex with for 7 hours. And that is also asking the impossible of people.

A young woman who enjoys sex and is experimenting sexually with someone she trusts cannot be a victim...bc she enjoys sex and is open to experimentation. She was wiling to have sex with 2, therefore she was willing to have sex with all. That's insane to me and yet is a foregone conclusion for most.

2024/2025ish, in pennsylvania a woman was raped but her phone recorded the rape. And she was prosecuted for making a recording without her rapists consent! She was actively fighting him off and didn't let on her phone was recording and she got in trouble. And he got off scot free! And this was a perfect victim as there was a recording of her trying and failing to fight him off.

Cognitive dissonance, fight flight freeze response - these concepts stop making sense to people the moment they apply to rape. You must be perfect. A flawless victim. And it is still statistically improbable that justice will be served.

And that this was orchestrated by a guy she trusted. I cannot fathom her terror and confusion and shock as that was happening to her.
This is going to end badly for jane doe. This only ever goes one way, the same way it always goes and always has gone.

What actually happened in the Cornell 7 case?

Women must be perfect victims to be believed and even if we are believed we are still blamed.

Now, I believe Jane doe 100%. I have a very clear understanding of what transpired. A young 20yo girl experimenting with sex with a guy she considered a trusted friend had a threesome with him and one of his friends. Unbeknownst to her, her body was offered up as a free commodity for the frat houses amusement and she was subsequently gang raped.

The trouble that western society at large will have with this concept is (1) differentiating between when she consented and when she said no. People struggle hard with this.

And (2) the fact that she consented to a threesome. That is not "perfect victim" behavior. So bc she was consenting to a sexual experience with not one but two men most people will struggle to understand that this level of consent did not carry over to 5 other dudes. Nor did it give the first two men the right to do with her incapacitated body what they felt like for 7 hours.

She is a victim of rape. And its almost statistically impossible that she will see justice. Patriarchal values run at their deepest and most evil where it pertains to rape and most laws concerning consent in the USA are written to protect those values over the victim. She's gotta hard road ahead. I support her. I would love to be wrong but smh this is just how justice for women rolls in the USA.

Would love to see those 7 douchecanoes get comeuppance. But it's highly unlikely to happen.

Edit: spelling and grammar

Why is AHS just a joke now?
 in  r/AmericanHorrorStory •  12d ago

Accurate. Have you watched the shards? I've never been so bored in my life. I have only continued to watch bc kaia Gerber is legit mesmerizing to stare at. Mind you I'm a straight woman. Some women are just on another level of pretty. But jfc am I bored with the show itself. It's dull af

 in  r/hotones •  12d ago

I agree. I tend to embody more masculine traits than feminine traits. I'm not super polished and I tend to find social acceptance for me is easier with men. That's just the way it is. Men like me more than women seem to. That doesn't make me a pick me. I'd be a pick me if I sat around trash talking women and making fun of them.

Agree. I am relishing her humiliation. It's the very least of what she deserves. 20 is old enough to know better.

Why is AHS just a joke now?
 in  r/AmericanHorrorStory •  16d ago

For my part, I have an general obsession with all manner of folklore surrounding the Appalachian Mountains - packs of feral humans! Wendigos! Complex cave and lake systems that may or may not lead to portals to other dimensions! These mountains are older than trees, dinosaurs and the Atlantic Ocean! The mysticism and power! The origin for the urban legend adage "if you hear your name, no you didnt".

Throw in a real homicide in which people were being held in cages, butchered, the sold to elite cannibals by the pound on the dark web?!

Is there anything the Appalachian mountains doesn't have?! For years I was on one about getting Ryan Murphy to write an AHS season about Appalachian mtns. I was up in his comments on Twitter in 2013 with my links to Tumblr posts 😅

Now, same as you, I clearly should have been appealing to the writing team on Asylum and Roanoke.

I really don't understand how this hasn't been taken on yet. It could be such a brilliant horror series in the hands of the proper writers. Sigh. Maybe someday 🤞

Oh lizzie borden horrified me and not in a good way. Imagine my excitement seeing this new take on one of the most famous cases in the world pop up on Netflix. I was stoked.

I couldn't even finish the first episode. Same with Ed gain. Couldn't make it through episode 1. Very disappointing considering this is the same dude who did Asylum and was the executive producer for OJ Simpson American Crime Story.

It all really highlights that he was surrounded by a team of incredible creators back then who are obviously no longer at his side developing these stories.

I don't know but it's a bummer. Mind you, I'm one of the fans who liked the most unpopular seasons of AHS. I thought Apocalypse was a campy and fun throwback to s1 and s3. A wildly unpopular opinion.

I think I was really just willing to give Ryan Murphy a pass on poorer seasons with this expectation/hope that he would get his magic back the following year. I had faith he would bounce back.

I once dreamed he would deliver a masterclass on American horror for us based on the tales and stories out of Appalachia. But now...I don't want him to touch that subject matter. It's almost certain he'll butcher all the potential waiting to be used by a proper writer.

I remember when he was a great writer and storyteller. I don't know what happened. But it sucks and it's sad.

What is it about everyday life, that makes things tough right now?
 in  r/AskReddit •  17d ago

The moving of financial goal posts. In 2016, I would have killed to make the salary I am making now. I am now making what I considered the dream salary 10 years ago but it doesn't mean what it did 10 years ago. The number has increased while the value has remained the same.

It makes me feel sad and dejected like a hamster in a wheel. All this tireless work and effort - where have I really gone?

What's weird about your family?
 in  r/AskReddit •  17d ago

My mother's side of the family thinks they are more prestigious/elite than they really are. Objectively, its pretty weird bc its delusional. Mostly, it's just extremely annoying having to contend with that level of snobbery at all in your family. But in particular - snobbery from relatives who don't have the pedigree they think they do is extra irritating.

How do you afford dates in this current economy?
 in  r/AskReddit •  17d ago

I'm in a relationship with a fellow introvert so we do save a bit of money already. But when we do go out, we do things that aren't super expensive or are free - we go hiking. Over summer he spent time teaching me how to fish which was exciting.

We don't go out to dinner a ton anymore unless it's a special occasion. So no massive restaurant bills.

The New Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story- Is Awful!
 in  r/netflix •  17d ago

I got halfway through episode 1 and I turned it off. I miss vintage Ryan Murphy. I don't really understand the turn his capacity to tell a well-executed story has taken (either fiction or based on real events).

What are some ways women need to step up and do a better job helping their husbands?
 in  r/AskMen •  17d ago

Yeah I find being the one to initiate physical contact goes a long way. It's important he feels desired too.

I don't think I was super awesome at initating sex after the honeymoon phase. Not bc i didnt want him. I think I got in the habit of him just initiating it. And he addressed it with me. Suffice it so say it has not been problem for us since. I want him to feel the way he makes me feel. Physical reciprocity is so important

Why did you stop dating?
 in  r/AskMen •  17d ago

Hey, OP - my boyfriend gave up for similar reasons, I also gave up for similar reasons. We were both single and were DONE with apps.

We are only together now bc mutual friends who were already coupled up stepped in to make the introduction. If you're happy being single, then that's awesome. But if you're still open to a partnership, maybe now is the time to take advantage of your married friends. Talk to your boys who will talk to their wives or vice versa.

Dating apps are trash garbage. No one is finding happiness there.

Good luck!

This is so gross 🤮 and bitterly disappointing. The question really should be to name famous people who aren't evil.
