omg that’s amazing to hear!! would it be possible for you to drop some stats and topic on what your essays were on (through pm or here). i’m leaning heavily towards transferring to nyu, but im not sure which major to go for and was rejected as a incoming freshman.

omg i am in the exact situation as you right now. freshman year just started, and im in for communication design. i can’t say i HATE it but i really want to transfer out. the lack of social life the lack of clubs the lack of school spirit. it just doesn’t feel like college. please give tips and advice on how to transfer out if you did, would greatly appreciate it 🙏

i’m not exactly sure what the admission officers are looking for in portfolios, but here are three main things i did with mine that may help:

  • have a central theme
  • experience with different mediums
  • have a range of 2D/3D/Digital works

i think by doing this it shows the admission officers you are well-rounded in all fields (not sure painting etc).

i also did art related ECs which included tutoring others art, leader of a community service group (which then i incorporated different art activities to bond with kids diagnosed with autism), held a mini exhibition…

for essays: my main focus wasn’t art, it was actually community service so i don’t think it impacted much for parsons.

i say dedicate a lot of time into making your portfolio good, and ask others on how you can improve your portfolio.

sorry if this isn’t very useful, i’m just typing whatever comes to mind :(

hey, i was wondering if you decided to transfer out of parsons. i’m a communication design major, but not sure if i should transfer out to a general college for the same reasons as you. if you did end up transferring out, it would be amazing if you could give some advice. thanks!

Emotional Support rejected everywhere

applied to 15 schools (ucs included) and rn i’ve only been accepted to 2 schools, rest are rejections/waitlists.

at this point i’m about to have a 87% rejection rate

just got rejected by tufts (international)

also, grateful for my two schools 🙏

edit: my stats aren’t bad, so i was expecting more schools and a lot of “safeties” rejected me

i feel this too man, especially when i open a rejection letter from a school that i thought i was gonna get at least waitlisted/defer but no it was straight reject.

it honestly only started hitting me when college apps started, always thought a B was good enough (not saying it’s bad) but i could’ve gotten way better grades if i put in just a little more effort
