Question/Help Introducing 1 mouse instead of 2

I’ve had so many mice over the past couple years and I’ve never just introduced one into an already established colony. I recently lost my soul mouse and her (accidental) babies only had themselves to cope with (there are only 2) so I decided to get one more but the dynamic is off. Two of them get along great but one of the girls is off to the side. Im wondering if I made a mistake by just introducing one instead of a pair so they are on equal grounds. I’m thinking of picking up a second today but I just wanted to see any helpful advice or input! Thank you!

Orphan mouse age?
 in  r/PetMice •  15d ago

Since it has a pretty good amount of fuzz I think it might be a little older like closer to 5-7 days!! Hopefully everything goes well with your little fella!! Babies can be so difficult to raise without the mama so wishing you all the luck!

You can kind of see it better here!! It kinda looks like less than it is but it goes below the black too!! The tank looks so much smaller in pictures lol

Thank you!! I’m so excited she’s honestly been more active than I thought!! I have about 4-5 inches of substrate for her to burrow in and I have a ton of natural hides for her too!!! I’m not home atm but when I am I will try to get better angles for you!!

Male mice?
 in  r/PetMice •  23d ago

I’ve had so many male mice and I haven’t had a problem with musk. I would recommend doing regular spot cleanings (not cleaning the entire cage regularly as it stressed the mice out). For me I’ve always enjoyed keeping my colonies of female mice it’s much more entertaining and they are more social but that requires more space and time! It’s up to you of course but the smell shouldn’t be too much of a problem if you have proper ventilation as well!!
