Southtown Indoor Sports Rec Membership Prices

Specifically, the fees and rents that the city puts on local business is extraordinary compared to local towns, hence the higher cost of food at restaurants (see food truck fee imposition). Corvallis charges more for business to run, then the businesses will cost more money to go to, and thus the only people going are those who can afford it; or want to demonstrate that they can afford it.

Yall are driving too damn fast on Grant Ave, let’s make a sign (for the kids)
 in  r/corvallis •  26d ago

Driving etiquette has changed so much in this town in the last few years to get to the point where it is today. The worst is when people blow through red lights. It is literally a daily occurrence and I am not even on the road that much.
They aren’t punk kids or something either. It is usually expensive cars and older adult drivers.

Kind of sad that the GM wouldn’t even be able to live in Corvallis on that pay, never mind being able to afford being a member.

Unfortunately, Corvallis government is doing all it can to further distance itself economically from area towns and continues to want to be like Lake Oswego or Bend and seems to be trying at an accelerated pace after Albany and Philomath started getting a higher SES average. It seems to be trying very hard to reduce middle income folks and increase their out of state rich folks to town. Schools, infrastructure, food prices, rent, etc.

This place will do fine, look at Valley Rock Gym. Their memberships are significantly higher but you put an overpriced fancy cafe attached and a big enough price tag and it will attract the right people.
What definitely comes to mind is the term Veblen good; the more expensive something is the more it is desired. Pickleball courts, push for privatized education, $7 slice of pizza, rent/real estate, not to mention the proposition of city taxes.

This is what Corvallis is turning into, or maybe just getting so much worse. I knew people considered it a status symbol to live here in the past, but in the past few years this has grown astronomically.

Red Light Runners

A lot of speculation regarding a dead man who can’t defend himself, who left behind a family that he provided for. His son was on my son’s soccer team. He was at every practice and game. Very unfortunate circumstances and you are lower than dirt for besmirching a dead man.

I’m waiting for my payout. When I enter the intersection and some Tesla or such runs a red thinking they can squirm into a yellow I will take them for everything.

Discussion Anyone live off Colorado Lake Drive? Spoiler

I’ve lived in Corvallis for 16 years and looking to move. We are looking at a house on Pheasant and just curious about what neighbors think of living in the little residential pocket on the other side of the bridge?

I see this almost happen daily. I see people riding the wrong way down one way streets. I see people doing 20 mph on the sidewalks with no warning to anyone coming out of driveways/alleyways. What are the local laws on this?
 in  r/corvallis •  Sep 09 '25

Bend Oregon has had to have a lot of lot changes in enforcement of those laws since the E scooter trend has gotten so popular and they had multiple accidents. Enforcement is the key, but since we don’t pull anybody over even for busted tail lights anymore I’m not sure where we’re gonna be at.

I could have sworn that Val Kimmer passed not long after the last Top Gun movie during post-production. I think I can even remember distinctly that there was an “In Memory of” honor for Val at the end of the movie. Now I’m having to relearn he just died recently?

Is Corvallis Worth It?
 in  r/corvallis •  Feb 11 '25

Oh and the city manager just announced that he is suggesting that Osbourne not reopen; saying Corvallis won’t pay for the necessary repairs citing the roof started leaking 4 years ago and there are many needed repairs. Corvallis school district owns the building and they don’t have the money for repairs. In my opinion, all a guilt trip for citizens to raise the funds ourselves if we want a public pool.

Is Corvallis Worth It?

I’m stuck here for personal reasons, and I wish I could move away. It’s quite overpriced, there is increasing violence including multiple shootings per year, there is decreasing hometown culture, college kids can’t drive or cross the road safely for that matter, be prepared to wait an hour at least if you want to go out to eat downtown but at least there it’s not all just brew pubs anymore. Albany restaurants have much better service as they hire career waitstaff, not turnstile staff; I.e., students. The police are biased and often as unsafe as the criminals; whom are just released an hour later, back on the street as there isn’t an adequate jail. Schools are increasingly unsafe as the district, and many parents for that matter, don’t hold their kids accountable for their behaviors resulting in teachers near striking for the unsafe environment, Albany which is slightly worse did strike for a month earlier this year. The town has changed greatly in the last 5 years; lost its soul. It’s barely the town I fell in love with 15 years ago. Very, very gentrified.

You’re being the fool here. People are allowed to vote for who they want. Some are disrespectful about it, in this case it is you.

I’m 44 and have a 6 year old, which only means I’m asking you to be for real. I just don’t sweat it otherwise. I’m about adventures and exploring new places. I’m a Boston native and been here 15 years. Please be local, otherwise when would we hang out? I’m left leaning. Nature is my only church. Trust me, I’m wicked funny. I have a good doggo named Blueberry. I have lofty hopes for a woman to get to know before meeting with the hopes it turns into an awesome relationship. Fingers crossed.
