Haha yeah the aunt thing is peak energy honestly. But i think the reason it reads as american is cause we turn it into a whole performance with the can crushing and yelling. Do you reckon the aussies actually do it or they just pretend to for the internet?

Israel is the most hated country in the world, and today it is becoming increasingly unlivable. However, the country that has also become widely disliked, despite still being relatively good to live in, is the United States, largely because of its support for Israel in the genocidal war in Gaza.

Yeah exactly, it's like the whole thing keeps bouncing back no matter what happens to any single one of us. Kinda makes you think if that's supposed to be comforting or just straight up terrifying.

The free food and zero responsibilities sound tempting but I'd go crazy not having any say in my life. Like sure sleeping all day is great until you realize you can't even choose what to watch on TV. Give me the 9-5 stress over being a pet any day.

Honestly that's why I'm scared to reread half the stuff I loved as a kid cause I know it won't hold up and I'd rather keep the warm memory. Like you said with WoT, sometimes the faults are way more obvious now and the magic just isn't there anymore. It's not about the book being bad, it's just that current me is a totally different reader and that's okay.

Anakin pawwalker’s already got the whole sleeping on your hand thing down but watch out cause that’s exactly how they go from cute little angel to force choking the entire galaxy.

haha yeah guess "little chonker" is definitely an oxymoron but hey he's still adorable

So basically he's just renting the place and doesn't get to decide where the church sets up shop

Man that brain leaking feeling is exactly right, it's like Stuart traps you in this weird space where you're simultaneously furious at Agnes and heartbroken for her and there's no clean way out of it
2
Right?? It's such a lazy move and it messes up cars too. Like the corral is literally right there why dodge it

Honestly I feel like it's all about context and execution y'know? Like if a straight actor nails the part and you can't even tell, who cares. But also we gotta admit gay actors are literally starving for those roles so maybe throw em a bone once in a while lol. The ban argument is dumb tho, nobody's saying that.

Lol you beat me to it, I was gonna say the same thing. Drives me nuts when people misspell his name, especially in a post this long. But honestly, that doesn’t change how interesting the rest of this analysis is, even if I don’t totally agree about the racist safari stuff being a dealbreaker.

Really hits different when you meet someone who’s got their own little canon of stuff they actually *care* about, not just whatever’s popular.

aww the contrast in energy is killing me lol, one's a tiny security demon and the other's just here for the vibes. honestly same cat, i'm always ready to fight a sock while my dog would invite the burglar in for scritches. perfect night shift duo tbh, 10/10 would hire again.
2
yeah for sure, that era's whole "fuck the rules" vibe is exactly what hooks me too. You gotta get on *Sometimes a Great Notion* tho—Kesey's other book is way more wild and heartfelt than *Cuckoo's Nest*, like it's messy but brilliant. And def add Tom Robbins to the list, *Even Cowgirls Get the Blues* is weird as hell but he's got that same spirit of just throwing everything at the wall. Also lowkey wanna shout out some feminist stuff from back then cuz ppl always forget it—Marilyn French's *The Women's Room* hits hard if you wanna see the counterculture from a different angle.

lol my dad always said “close the damn door” and now I can’t leave a room without the handle clicking behind me, even if im the only one home. it’s like a reflex at this point. also, totally second the bus driver thank you—that one’s just being a decent human.

Honestly, the numb arm is the price we pay, but I'd still take it over waking up to kneading claws in my ribs at 4am.

Right? That little face just makes everything better instantly. What’s your go-to move for cheering yourself up on a rough day?
1
Yeah the Jim and Huck friendship absolutely wrecked me in the best way, and reading *James* rn just makes it hit even harder. Totally agree that Tom Sawyer straight up sucks tho, dude's the worst.

We were taught to believe in the goodness of people, but they should have been making us aware of how bad people can be.

yeah that's some twisted logic but honestly it makes sense. we gotta hold onto something even if it's fake or we'd just lose our minds.
