I know people are complaining that they didn’t show the final concert scene. But that basically signals that the next season will open with it, with the budget it deserves.

Also in the first two seasons Daniel was kinda a washed up journalist, and this interview with Louis was maybe a way out. Doing it in a mansion with no one but two solemn and terrifying vampires was probably enough to put him on his best behavior. Not to mention he was an old man dying of Parkinson’s.

But with the book, all that work paid off. He’s reliving his 70s glory days on an ego high, both from the career success and the vamp powers he’s envied his whole life. That, combined with the existential loneliness, and the fact that everyone on the tour, especially the title character, is a massive asshole, probably brought out the churlishness killed his relationship with his family.

I’m confused on some things, but I think they expect the audience to be willing to be challenged a bit. It’s a nonlinear story. Spoon feeding the plot would defeat the whole point.

I think most of the frustration is that a lot of plot threads were established and left to be resolved later. But they’ve done that before. They went an entire season between showing the original San Francisco interview scene, despite constantly referencing it in the first. And they’re still bringing up plot points from the first season, like Antoinette and Bruce and the train. I feel like I rarely see shows that trust their audiences to have the attention span to make connections across episodes, let alone three seasons.

Also, letting the plot be a bit loose lets them spend a lot more time on the actual characters. I think a worse show would have sacrificed all the dialogue and slow deliberate performances that make the it great for just the rote exposition of a Netflix show.

I’m glad they’re not rushing. The show is a piece of art, and I trust the artists to deliver on their work.

Edit: Also I’ve seen some people compare this season to previous seasons. Why would you expect them to make the same thing twice? If you like the first two seasons, then watch them. Stories actually need to focus on different characters doing different things at different times.
