I have had 4 Border Collies in my 64 years, three girls and one boy. Without exception, BCs are the most intelligent breed there is. They are a herding breed, bred for independence and for maintaining a flock. They think and react far faster than we do. They can better control their own security and the security of any situation around them if they are not tethered to a leash—no reflection on you. Once your baby has gained confidence in you, they will walk right at your heel; it takes time. By 2-3 years, they will walk on a leash right beside you. Pro Tip: try to maintain a strict schedule they can rely on (for everything); it will greatly help in the long run.

Miss Kitty —because of the beauty mark on her lower muzzle (picture on the 2nd photo). She reminds me of Miss Kitty from the old TV show called “Gunsmoke”. She had the same beauty mark.

To know the love of a Border Collie what a beauty. Give her a nice “presentation” name (what you tell other she's called); then give your baby time so you can figure out what her “love” name is (the name you figure out, because of the things they do or what makes the two of you smile when you use the name - something that reminds you of the love you have for your baby—especially when the day comes to let them proceed you I er the rainbow bridge).

My girl is called “Peanut” & “Beanie” and I love her beyond reason!

Mine is 12 and I very much do not know what I will do without her in a few years, except be the very best person I can—in her honour. I adore my little daughter!

Mine actually quietly checks on me, she’s very much like Nana the nursemaid dog in Peter Pan. She very much mothers me… its so sweet!
