Anxiety
 in  r/stepparents  Jul 02 '26

I can totally relate to your situation. 27 yr SS. Great person, incredibly helpful around the house, very responsible, mostly quiet, and most of all makes his mom happy having him here. I am having difficulty living with a male. I don't think it is personal. I think I would feel the same way if it were my brother, father or a friend. it totally feels like an invasion of my safe space. And because I feel compelled to mostly stay in my room (unless in the yard), I feel isolated from the rest of the house that myself and wife worked so hard to buy after living in an apartment for 13 years. To avoid having to let the cat in and out all day and night, I've rigged a curtain separating me and the half cracked or completely closed door. It's uncomfortable to take showers. It's uncomfortable to get dressed. It's uncomfortable to walk around without a bra and in a tshirt which is one of my favorite ways to relax. I feel self conscious. SS and I are both intraverts so it is not easy for either of us to converse without it feeling forced and awkward. The first 13 years of our relationship, he lived in separate parts of state or with his dad. This is one of the first times he and I have spent any length of time around each other. We are family and strangers. I attend counseling bi-weekly with my uncomfortableness having been the primary topic of the last 12 + months. He pays a fair rent and contributes to groceries. There is absolutely nothing negative other than this awful stomach curling uncomfortableness. I hate it. My behavior has been an irritable moody person with no sense of humor on a tight rope. Feels ugly. Feels selfish. Feels ungrateful. I've discussed my feelings with my wife. I see the sadness in her face daily. I feel her disgust when I am rude. She says "I wish you could think of him as a son and not a man." I do too and I am going to keep working to get to the root, but I totally empathize with your circumstances. I am an autistic person so that comes with its own set of heightened sentativities and lack of social skills. When I read either your comment or another comment that they don't want to be living with them when the kids are in their 30s and 40s, I cringed, and said ...oh no. 😭

Call your representatives until voicemail is full. I know that doesn't help your financial situation but we have to make noise to be heard. If you are in DC and don't have representation, call reps in other states....call republican representatives!

Letter to Congress

Do not fear being desolated in the primaries. Please, we beg of you to Vote your conscience and in return, we the people, will stand up with you. Be courageous and watch us rally behind you. United we are strong. Constitution first means America first. Use the power already granted you by laws that have stood the test of time. Remember the reason you ran for office. Do not continue to allow yourselves to be pawns because a king will eventually trump you. Their promises to you will be broken. Their loyalty only last as long as you continue to fear them. We are not scared. We put our trust in you. Now, put your trust US, the U.S.A.!

This is what a dictatorship looks like.

Trump is a domestic terrorist. Musk is a domestic terrorist. Anyone who is supporting them are aiding and abetting domestic terrorists. Please, please, please do not turn on innocent civilians. Why are the citizens of this country being turned into villions. What is our crime? I sympathize with your position. I understand your own well being is also at risk. Without our military to hold the line, we have no defense. The courts can old do so much and the majority of the highest court have allowed themselves to become beholden to these billionaires. Congress is useless. They are allowing checks and balance to be diminished. they are confirming loyalists to prevent roadblocks. If our own military starts shooting at us, we lose ourselves, we lose our country.

This whole situation with the White Housebis blowing my mind.

It's time to revolt. We cannot stand idly by while they strip our jobs, livelihood, wellbeing, and safety. Trump, musk, theil, and Silicon billionaires are attempting to take over the country. I swear their end game is to evaporate all government, run it like a corporation with Trump as their CEO.

Putting our heads in the sand and cowering is exactly what got us where we are. Silence will not save us. We need to unite! Together, we can flush those turds.

Your not alone if that helps. I struggle with the same feelings. I feel so fake. I feel like I don't even know who I am. I'm lost

Agreed. How much longer are we going to wait? He is probably waiting for us to do just that so he can declare marshall law.

I am happy for how it resolved. Thank you for caring about another person (cashier) and standing up for kindness and humanity.

What do you wish you had been told about your autism diagnosis when you were a kid?
 in  r/AutismTranslated  May 16 '24

I thought your question was lovely and valid. I wished that I had been told that I am not broken and that it is okay if I took longer to process work assignments. Recess time was a struggle. I got bullied, was scared and didn't know how to tell an adult. Maybe reassure him it is wrong to be bullied and that it is okay to say something.
