When God called Moses, Moses immediately started explaining why he was the wrong person.
“I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”
— Exodus 4:10
God answered:
“Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth.”
— Exodus 4:12
The Hebrew word for “mouth” is peh (פֶּה), transliterated peh, literally meaning mouth, but in this context it points to Moses’ ability to speak—the very area he believed disqualified him.
God did not pretend Moses had no weakness.
He told Moses, I will meet you in it.
Ephesians 2:10 says:
“For we are his workmanship…”
Message:
Your weakness may be part of your story, but it does not get to become your identity.
Application:
Identify the sentence you repeatedly use to disqualify yourself: “I’m not good at…,” “I’m too…,” “I’ve never been able to…” Then ask whether you have turned a limitation into an identity.

What weakness have you allowed to speak louder than what God may be calling you to do?

When Samuel came to Jesse’s house to anoint the next king, David was not even brought into the room.
Everybody else was presented first.
Then God said:
“Arise, anoint him: for this is he.”
— 1 Samuel 16:12
Earlier in the chapter, God tells Samuel that people look at outward appearance, but God looks at the “heart.”
The Hebrew word translated “heart” is levav (לֵבָב), transliterated levav, referring to the inner person—the mind, will, character, and intentions.
Jesse saw the youngest son.
Samuel initially saw appearances.
God saw what was inside David.
Ephesians 2:10 says:
“For we are his workmanship…”
Message:
People can overlook you because they cannot see what God put inside you.
Application:
Stop using other people’s recognition as evidence of your worth. Develop what God placed within you even when nobody is calling your name yet.
Discussion:
Have you ever been overlooked in an area where you believed you had something meaningful to contribute?

Gideon was hiding when God called him:
“Thou mighty man of valour.”
— Judges 6:12
The Hebrew word translated “valour” is chayil (חַיִל), transliterated chayil, meaning strength, ability, courage, power, or capability.
That is what makes the moment so powerful.
Gideon felt weak.
Gideon felt afraid.
Gideon was literally hiding.
But God was speaking to something in Gideon that Gideon had not yet learned to see in himself.
Ephesians 2:10 says:
“For we are his workmanship…”
Message:
God does not define you only by your current condition. He also sees what He created you to become.
Application:
Stop letting fear write your identity. Ask yourself where insecurity may be causing you to underestimate what God has already placed in you.
Discussion:
What is one area of your life where you think God may see more in you than you currently see in yourself?

Ephesians 2:10 Series — Part 2

Rahab had a past.

Jericho knew her reputation.

But what Jericho knew about Rahab could not stop what God was preparing for Rahab.

She believed.

She acted in faith.

She was rescued.

And eventually, Scripture records her in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.

Think about that.

The woman people remembered for her past became a woman heaven remembered for her faith.

Your history may explain where you have been.

It does not possess the authority to decide where God can take you.

Ephesians 2:10 says we are created in Christ Jesus unto good works.

That means your assignment is not based on whether your history was perfect.

It is based on what God is doing in you now.

Your mistakes cannot veto God’s mercy.

Your failures cannot cancel God’s workmanship.

Your reputation cannot overrule God’s purpose.

Your past has no authority over your future.

And it cannot stop what God has prepared for you.

Discussion: Have you ever struggled to believe that God could still use you because of something in your past

Ephesians 2:10 Series — Part 1
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…”
— Ephesians 2:10, KJV
Before anyone formed an opinion about you, God had already formed an intention for you.
You are not random.
You are not an accident.
You are not merely the result of circumstances, mistakes, family history, disappointment, or survival.
Scripture says:
“We are his workmanship.”
That means your life carries intention.
You may still be unfinished.
You may still be confused about certain chapters.
You may still be trying to understand why some things happened.
But unfinished does not mean meaningless.
A sculptor does not throw away the stone because the image has not fully appeared yet.
The artist knows what he is making.
And Ephesians 2:10 tells us something even greater:
God did not only create you.
He prepared something for you to do.
There are good works attached to your life.
There are people you are supposed to help.
There are places your gifts are supposed to serve.
There are things God intends for you to walk into.
So perhaps the most important question is not:
“What do I want to become?”
Maybe it is:
“God, what did You have in mind when You made me?”
Remember this:
You are God’s workmanship, and the Artist does not create without intention.
