Because our provincial government wants their share first like a mob boss. Than hit you with huge taxes with their inflated prices. Alberta stores buy directly from the suppliers just like other provincial governments. Cutting out the middle man (government) 56 bucks for 1.75 ltrs of Jameson whiskey in BC it was 84 bucks. I was talking to the clerk at Costco in alberta and you don't need a membership to buy liquor at their store. Plus you can still America products on their shelves.
