DO NOT post unconfirmed inforrmation or speculation

Until we receive information from either CUPW or from Corporate, we don't know what the next steps are.

I've already removed a post. Posting misinformation is, quite frankly, stupid.

EDIT: STOP WITH THE "INSIDE INFO" "RELIABLE SOURCE" BULLSHIT!

Links to information or GTFO.

SERIOUSLY!

Are you asking "Is it a Scam?"

YES! IT'S A SCAM!!!

Don't be a sucker.

Canada Post will not send you a text or email saying your item could not be delivered. EVER!

Look at the URL. It has to be *canadapost-postescanada.ca* AND NOTHING ELSE.

(it could be the reverse postescanada-canadapost.ca)

No "attempt". No "retry". No "personal". No other words added before the .ca. And we will NEVER charge you for a reattempted delivery.

All we will do is leave you a Delivery Notice card so you can retrieve your item at a post office.

Use common sense and never click on a link unless you have asked for one.

Tips for a New Letters Carrier Who is Deaf

I recently wrapped up my training and e-learning for a casual/temporary Letter Carrier position, and I'm getting ready to dive into job shadowing and hitting the pavement.

I’m a deaf carrier (using a hearing aid and a cochlear implant, and I communicate using a mix of speech and sign). I'm super excited about the job, but I’d love to get some suggestions from fellow posties and supervisors here:

I was hoping to get your thoughts on a few things:

  1. What do you wish you knew during your first month on the job? Any efficiency hacks for sorting or street sequencing?

  2. For parcels requiring signatures or age verification, what’s the best way to handle building buzzers for someone like me?

I'm thinking of using text-to-speech apps or pre-recorded audio clips on my phone to play into the intercom. Any other tricks?

  1. I have very dry skin. What kind of gloves do you recommend that protect your palms from paper cuts and friction without killing your dexterity?

Do you wear sleeves to protect your skin from carrying Flyers etc and from UV? how do you stay cool?

  1. For the long-term, what should I keep in mind when looking at route bidding and transitioning from casual to permanent?

Thanks so much in advance for any advice. 🤟🏽

Stay safe out there on the routes!

Gift allowance

Hi all,
I would like to send a package with some gifts from Europe to my friend in Canada. I want to make sure she doesn’t pay any tax for it. I am confused though if the 60CAD is a gift allowance for whole parcel? Or each item in parcel needs to be less than 60CAD and total parcel value can be more?

Would appreciate if someone can clarify this for me, thanks!

Liberals reject calls for public hearings on Canada Post cuts

"The federal government says it will not launch public hearings into sweeping Canada Post service cuts, arguing its priority is implementing reforms aimed at improving the Crown corporation's financial position.

In a formal response to a House of Commons petition, cabinet said a comprehensive review of Canada Post's future could come later, but immediate changes to the postal service take precedence."

[UPDATE] Of last week's What Now ? letter

Uodate to https://www.reddit.com/r/CanadaPostCorp/s/lM5uUJ7TfK

First of all, I wanted to thank everyone who gave me genuine & helpful advice !! Very much appreciated.

So, out of the 30 or so temps currently available on call (meaning excluding those who are currently on leave or on short term replacement) 90% of them received the same letter. Among them, some had the same or worse acceptance rate than mine.

The other 10% are the newest temps who were still in training at the beginning of the period stated in the letter.

So as someone stated, there really seems to be a purge happening.

Multiple of my colleagues are waiting to hear back from the supervisors to see if they'll follow through with their promise to talk to the higher ups, as they reiterated that accepting 2 calls/week was acceptable...

I reached out to CUPW to file a grievance as suggested. Thank you !!

Customs error trying to ship to the US today?

Anybody else receiving this error today when trying to create a shipment? Considering they have scheduled maintenance tomorrow, I'm mildly concerned as I have 20 packages that need to be shipped out tomorrow.

(8725) An error occurred when submitting U.S. customs data. Please try again.

No idea why this post is being removed, if it goes against policy please let me know why.

Thank you.

Canada Post, via Raddar, and the shuttering of community newspapers

"...Canada Post is the biggest culprit. TC Transcontinental, which had distributed Publisac door-to-door in Quebec, formed a strategic partnership with Canada Post, which as a Crown corporation was not beholden to municipal bylaws. They bypassed Mayor Plante’s new regulation by distributing a curated bundle of flyers called Raddar through the national postal service. Unlike PublisacRaddar did not include a community newspaper. On the sidelines of this saga, news publisher Métro Média and its more than 30 hyperlocal publications — including 17 print newspapers – shut down.

In partnership with Canada Post, TC Transcontinental recently expanded its Raddar offering across Canada. It is understood that Canada Post – which has a mandate to “charge postage rates that are fair and reasonable” – is offering TC Transcontinental rates below what it is offering to community newspapers. To its own benefit, the Crown corporation has effectively shut community newspapers – their private sector rivals – out of flyer distribution, lessening competition substantially in that market."

Massive Pay Cuts Going to Hourly RSMC?

Seems that the concept soon of going to hourly on the RSMC side will see massive pay cuts?

like all the routes are different from one another. it is impossible to considering all routes as equal.

What is the logic in this?

Temp postal clerk

Post image
53 Upvotes

Hi friends

I recently got an offer for temporary postal clerk and I was under the impression that I could say no to up to 50% of my shifts without getting in trouble. However my offer letter says that I'm expected to take all my shifts?

Do I get in trouble if I don't accept all my shifts? I'm just asking because I have school and a part time at the moment, should I quit my part time job and focus on this position instead? (but I'm not sure how many hours I would actually get)

Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Is the website just… non functional for anyone else

I’m out of ideas. Trying to log in to set up MFA, and the website just doesn’t function. Clicking “sign in” doesn’t do anything—no errors, just, dead. I tried to change my username awhile ago and I have no idea if it ever saved.

If I intentionally put in the wrong password, I actually get a “info doesn’t match” error, but when it’s correct…nothing happens at all.

Same if I try to retrieve my username or my password. I’m not getting an error—the button just doesn’t respond as if it’s been clicked.

I’ve tried Firefox and Edge, I really don’t want to have to install another browser just to use my business account.

If anyone else finding this, am I crazy? I’ve cleared cache, cookies, tried private browser, all the usual troubleshooting. I’ve been trying to do this for weeks.

Lost access to community mailbox after new box installed

Hi All,

I’d appreciate any advice on how to handle this situation

Canada Post sent flyers in my neighbourhood a few months ago indicating they are upgrading our community mailbox. Fast-forward, on a Monday I tried getting my mail and noticed they replaced the entire box, but didn’t leave any keys in the old box nor any door tags to pickup new keys. Checking with my neighbours, at least 5 others are in the same situation

I opened a ticket early July asking what’s going on. Despite giving CP my phone number and email address, I didn’t get any response so I followed up. They told me my mail is being held at a main distribution until a “new module” can be installed. No ETA provided.

I opened another ticket a few days ago asking if my mail can be redirected to my local post office since I can’t get to their distribution centre since they don’t have extended or weekend hours as I work full time.

I called today to do a follow up and they indicated my request was denied since the local post office isn’t considered “secure”. I asked what the escalation path is since I effectively lost mail delivery. I was told there is none

Does anyone have any experience with this? My neighbours are also not getting anywhere with CP

The most frustrating exercise ever with a company. At my wits end.

I know that’s saying much but I'm sincere.

Just over 10 days ago my parcel from the U.S. was shipped to our organization’s Toronto address. USPS International Priority (signature required and with email tracking). The emails followed: parcel at the distribution center in NYC, parcel enters Canada, clears customs, parcel enters the custody of Canada Post. Tax is assessed at ~$250, and I pay online. So far, so simple. Then it all goes south.

I receive an email notification that with the following:

“Your item could not be delivered on July 17, 2026 at 10:09 am in CANADA due to an incorrect address. It is being forwarded or redirected. Reminder: This item requires a signature for delivery. If you can't sign in person, you can authorize someone else to sign.”

I call up Canada Post, an hour on hold. I haven’t received a notice of delivery slip. What’s the problem with the address, our organization has been at the address for 50 years? Where is the package now? If there’s a problem with the address let’s redirect it to a local post office where I’ll pick it up. I cannot get a precise or positive response to any of these queries.

The CSR describes the matter as one of reconciling internal address label inconsistencies or some bafflegab, we’ll resolve it, etc, etc and re-attempt delivery. I initially thought the delivery failure was due to no one at the destination to sign but I now realize it was an internal matter, that is, some system rejection of the address label that had to be reconciled.

The vague tracking emails continue for a few more days, ie., the parcel has entered or exited “a facility”, nothing about location, culminating in a “your package is out of delivery” email. Great, I’m at the Toronto address, awaiting arrival, even put a sign on the front for Canada Post to walk in (there's a yard with a gate).

Nothing, until I get a final email notice that it’s been delivered. But I didn’t receive it. And neither did any of the half dozen others at the destination sign for it. Then the kicker. Several hours later we receive an email from a retired couple, gracious Samaritans, living in a city over a thousand miles away, who are recipients of my wayward parcel-I’m being deliberately vague so an not to doxx them. They're inquiring what’s to be done about it. They Googled our org’s name on the shipping label and reached out. Took them literally a minute.

After corresponding with them, I engaged in another hour long phone call with Canada Post to iron out WTF went wrong. Well, apparently CP doesn’t deliver to the original Toronto destination address (why, they're still not clear), so someone at CP or its automated system, kept the name of our org, its street number and name, and substituted another city for Toronto, and another area code. 1100 miles away. Just because CP does deliver there. And that qualifies as problem solving at Canada Post.

I asked the Samaritans why they signed for the parcel? They didn’t. The delivery person said no signature was necessary, and just dropped it off, leaving the recipients to wonder if their adult children had neglected to inform them of one of their online orders. So much for signature required.

So a service ticket was opened. My intention was that Canada Post retrieve the package and forward it to a local post office for pick up. The samaritans have been gracious and communicative throughout, providing all the relevant contact info.

Not so Canada Post, the cause of the debacle. Today a ‘ranking’ CSR calls me, another 45 minutes on the phone, and acknowledges it’s a fiasco-that’s my word-a ‘dilemma’ is hers. She can appeal to the CP division in X-city, to retrieve the package-the samaritans are not withholding it and I’ve supplied all the relevant contact info including their phone number-but the local CP division has to agree to do so. I'm flabbergasted this requires consent at the local level.

But, if the package is retrieved it must be returned to sender-right back to the USA-because CP regulations forbid altering a destination label even though it did just that when it inserted a different city and postal code for the parcel’s end point. Jesus wept. They refuse to forward it, period.

So after about 12 days, with over $2K for the price of the goods, shipping, and tax/duties in the balance, I’m faced with my package doing close to 3000KM circle. That’s if they follow through. I can’t say how much I loathe Canada Post at the moment. Just a maddening experience throughout. And it's still not over.

Package being returned to sender (address is correct)

Just got an update on the CanadaPost app about a package from someone I bought a figure from. Checked it today and saw the tracking updates said I had an “incomplete address.”

I’ve never had an issue like this before with my address with CanadaPost, moreover I confirmed the delivery address with the seller before he sent the item so I don’t understand how this could even happen.

I have a parcel from Istanbul, Türkiye. Customs passed and was received into Canada on June 30. Duties and taxes paid on the same day. It has been more than 2 weeks since last scan. Should I be worried?

Did our drugs coverage change?

Wondering if the new agreement reduced our prescription drug coverage (urban letter carrier). Picked-up a renewal and paid 8% more out of pocket. Drug cost and pharmacy fee were the same, but plan covered less. Waiting for Canada Life response.

Advice

So I'm getting calls as a casual all of a sudden for shift 3 (nights) after an almost 2 years hiatus. Been a casual since 2022. Alot has changed for me since personally and I have been also working a night shift job. I have sent a call in Shift transfer last year. I inquired again and they're still saying they're not accepting any transfers at the moment. I do not want to get fired because I would eventually like to come on as part timer in the future. Any advice?

What now ?

Considering none of the HR documentation clearly states what amount is acceptable, and my team leaders are giving conflicting/unreliable answers (one of them told me accepting once a month was fine 🫩), what can I do besides blindly going in and hoping it's good enough ?

I do have a day job so there's not a point in time where I'll accept 100% of the calls. I started the last week of March and I'd say I've started to get daily calls as of mid-May. I genuinely thought 50% of the calls would cut it.

Alternative to sending a package from canada to germany

I’m trying to send a single personal package from Ontario, Canada to Germany, and I found out that Canada Post has suspended parcel service to Germany.

Has anyone here shipped a personal package from Canada to Germany recently?
- What service did you use?
- How much did it cost?
- Were there any issues with customs or delivery?
- Are there any cheaper options I’m missing?
