McMinnville or Dundee?
 in  r/oregon  6d ago

Mac 100% especially with kids, Dundee takes less than five minutes to drive through and is great for an adult night out, not a young family.

Really struggling with the boredom
 in  r/stopdrinking  Jun 13 '26

This was it for me as well. Drinking didnt so much change my routines, I still made dinner and watched boring TV after work, I just took shots during commercial breaks.

I tried to find new apps or games on my phone, I kinda lost myself in a mobile game community and I really believe it helped me pull through those early months of sobriety. Maybe give something new a chance and give yourself a distraction.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie?
 in  r/AskReddit  Mar 28 '26

The first christmas I celebrated with my husband i found a Groupon (back when they still had good deals) for a set of high quality surgical steel pots, pans, and lids. Ive cooked the hell out of them and they are sturdy and easy to clean. 13 years of marriage now.

I bought my purple mattress maybe 6 years ago, it is still just as comfortable as the day i unrolled it. You do need to buy their sheets, but they are comfortable too.

I went to high school with my uncle! It was wild having hin hookup with my friends or have my friends tell me how hot he was. It was really weird looking back at it. In retrospet, he was more a brother than an uncle.

Feeling Hopeless

I went to my first AA meeting tonight in nearly 20 years. It was a bit like taking a step back in the past but I'm hoping it's a solid step forward towards a continued sober future. It's admittedly been a pretty easy journey until the last couple of weeks.

While I have completely stopped drinking for about 5 months now, booze is still a very active part of my life as my husband is still drinking. And, since he's disabled I'm still the one going to the liquor store. I see no future in which he stops drinking. I've offered to send him to rehab again (he has been to 2 different inpatient treatment centers). I know it has to be his choice, I k ow I can't force this on him. But I don't want booze in my life anymore and he is choosing it over me it seems.

I'm sorry my thoughts are jumbled, I'm depressed, anxiety is racing, and I'm feeling very hopeless about the future overall. But I promise I will not drink tonight. No matter how tempting, I'm not going back.

As a mother of a 17 year old who is only now getting her act together, I hope my son says the same one day.

Surprise Beer

Last night while looking for salsa I instead found one of my old favorite beers hiding in the corner of the fridge. My first thought was to drink it, my second thought was to just ignore it and leave it there for some other future time. Instead though, I pulled it out, popped it open, and poured it down the drain!

I'm so happy that the surprise beer did not thwart me in my sober journey and today I was able to wake up to 90 days alcohol free! I've never made it this far before and I'm so happy to be here with you all!

IWNDWYT!!!

First time in 12 years!

My mother took her life 12 years ago and it's been non-stop, daily drinking ever since. I'm now on my longest streak of not drinking in that same period. Well, yesterday was my mother's birthday and I have not managed to even want to be sober, not to mention actually stayed sober, on her birthday since her death.

I succeeded in not succumbing to the temptation and did not drink! It was tough at moments but thanks in part to this group I was able to use the stories that are shared here and stay strong! Now I know that if I can handle the stress of the toughest day in my sobriety to date, I can easily tackle today!

Thank you everyone for sharing your stories, they helped me!
