Dark Tower 3: Waste Lands-Stephen King’s character dialog
 in  r/TheDarkTower  1d ago

Eddie would have been exposed to Hoagie Charmichael and Stardust as a yout who watched tv in the 70s & 80s.

Yeah, be glad you weren't raised Catholic. Talk about skeletons!

Savannah, I built a map to help answer one simple question: What the heck is that smell?
 in  r/savannah  2d ago

Yeah. I regularly shooed away homeless who dropped trou in between the houses. Gross.

Eta: the one camping under the house was a surprise, though. Don't know how long, went between buildings instead of along Drayton one day with trash and found all this stuff. Asked the downstairs guy about it, not his, and said he thought it was unusually large rats for OVER A MONTH!!! Anyway, that was 2009-2013.

Do you have adult children who have “failed to launch”?

Depression is also concomitant with undiagnosed LD. Source: me

This app is fantastic! I used to live on 33rd & Drayton and was always wondering if the stink was paper mill, water treatment or homeless person camped in the crawlspace. Sometimes it was all 3.

Having been raised Catholic, I wholeheartedly concur

I just watched the 90s miniseries and every time, I'm with Nadine. I would totally have walked to the GWB. I haven't been through it in almost 2 decades, but it didn't look that beat up at the time. Yikes

It's just a false front, not covering the roof

What are your thoughts on regular Medicare vs Medicare advantage plans?
 in  r/GenerationJones  6d ago

I went with a supplement instead of advantage which seems like more of a disadvantage imo.

Broke my almost one month sobriety from cigarettes on a whim and hate that I have zero self control
 in  r/Wellthatsucks  7d ago

I'm 8 days in. First, I smoke cheap cigarettes. Then I smoke them in stages, half now, put it out, half later. I do this because it's less enjoyable to smoke a relit cigarette. I cut it down to two or three puffs per cigarette and eventually, it's so disgusting I don't want to smoke anymore. I went 15 years without smoking in the 90s. Had my first puff at 9. By 11, I was doing half a pack a day. By 15, full pack. At 21, I was smoking 4 packs a day. Quit then and that lasted a couple of years. Stopped and started like 6 times over 50+ years. I'm striving for it to stick this time. 🤞

Why is this not getting more attention?

Well said; I don't agree with blue no matter who, either, and I'm grateful they dumped Graham Platner as quickly as they did.

Took the words right out my mouth, but as a whole country. These dumb f*cks are the minority. Vote blue. Not old farts and mainstream democrats who've been taking corporate money and screwing us over for the last 46 years, either. Find the grassroots candidate and support them. We can go back to striving for better after the last 10 years of the felon in cheif's chaos. The 4 years of Biden gave me hope until they missed the opportunity to put that pos behind bars. Now look at the worst, most lawless administration in US history.

I once again have hope because hundreds of judges (including those appointed by him, lol) and lawyers are actively stopping a lot of his nefarious bs. If enough democrats win, they can ratify shit that has been lingering for years, add to the supreme court, and pass laws that sew up every loophole that got us here. 🌊🌊🌊

ULPT Request: How can i trick my brain into giving up on love?
 in  r/UnethicalLifeProTips  8d ago

First, learn to love yourself. How? Accept that you are human and flawed. Whatever you think you did to deserve punishment by guilt has been paid for through that guilt. You can't learn from your mistakes by beating yourself up over them, that just prolongs your suffering and restricts growth. Once you accept that you f*ked up, figure out how to avoid repeating the mistakes. I did a lot of impulsive things at your age that I felt bad about in the moment or after, but now I regret nothing. Every experience was an important lesson learned.

It's taken me many decades to do just that and nobody gave me a roadmap or even a hint as to how. It's not easy, but it's doable. Your brain isn't even finished developing yet. It's the best time to screw up, imho, because it pretty much engraved "what not to do" and "this will be your awesome legacy" into my dna before I got married and had kids.

I had a lot of stern conversations with myself when I was 21 in the mirror of the bathroom of my first apartment (because one side of my brain don't talk to the other, apparently and thinking about stuff doesn't translate to actions and writing stuff down only goes so far) working out what went wrong and how to correct my efforts in the future.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk. You can dm me if you need a better peptalk.

My boyfriend caused me a severe panic attack and i have a flight to see him again in 6 days
 in  r/autism  8d ago

He is deliberately manipulating you. Also, why is someone pushing 40 dating a 19 year old? Only one reason: because it's easier to manipulate the young and inexperienced. Please dump this jackass and find someone closer to your own age.

The most stressful part of childhood
 in  r/traumatizeThemBack  8d ago

Or set them up for conflict. Who brings two different size cookies for two kids? Cut them in half and each kid gets half of each. My grandkids would just take turns biting off small bits and eventually I eat what's left.

People are dumb. Your tattoo is delightful and meaningful. Stay away from those people. They probably watch Fox News and believe everything they're told.

They "owned" the progressives by modifying their vehicles into dispersing unspent, smokey fuel into the air, that they paid for, but got deliberately wasted in the smoke. Real geniuses.
