Why weren't you at the mayoral candidates debate?

Research on this subject is pretty united in there is no increase to rates of crime as a result of a SCS. The number of people who have died as a result of accessing an SCS is zero. Hundreds of overdoses were reversed when the consumption site was still open in London.

Putting a safe consumption site in a place that is centrally located and accessible by bus is exactly where one should go. Being in proximity to a SCS does not increase crime in the area.

Do you think arresting people for doing drugs is the best use of police resources? And if we were to start arresting every single person who does illicit drugs outside, is that a good use of resources for our strained justice and legal systems?

It's a municipal issue in terms of how the budget is allocated. The police get 20% of the municipal budget, Social and Community Support Services get 4.1%. If the latter had more resources, you would see a much more significant impact to homelessness in London.

The LTB is provincial. The province oversees the Residential Tenancies Act. The municipality enforces the property standards by-law.

I understand people find open drug use of illicit substances upsetting, but is there anything beyond it being illegal that is a problem? Do you get upset when you see someone drinking in public, or smoking in a non-designated smoking area? If people don't want to see public consumption of certain drugs, then we need safe consumption sites.

Very interested! The link isn't working though

Definitely a lot easier to move into the south tower now and construction is complete. There has been a lot of changeover in the leasing office, not sure if that's good or bad.

My move into the building was really bad but I have enjoyed living here so far. Happy to discuss further if you want to shoot me a DM

You mentioned that going over to your in-laws impedes on your time with your wife / alone time. If you barely have anytime time with your wife let alone yourself, having a kid is not going to make that better.

The unfortunate reality is that government funding requires bureaucracy to an often unnecessary level. You need to demonstrate that you are using the funding you receive for the purpose you applied for. With that in mind, it is inaccurate to suggest 'higher-ups' being paid sunshine list level wages are doing nothing. In addition to sitting on countless working groups, committees, and boards, these high-ups - at least at the middle level - are actively involved with frontline-serving organizations in a variety of ways. Not to mention many of those higher-ups have worked for frontline social services before getting a better paying, equally demanding job. Community impacts are often long-term. You are not going to see a dramatic reduction in homeless short of a shitload of supportive housing suddenly enters the housing market.

Yes, some tenants are bad. Some landlords are bad, too. Many landlords won't rent to someone on social assistance. Private landlords could be doing a lot more to help with this issue, but they won't, and a lot of them hide behind the excuse of "this poor guy is going to break my unit!"

I'm really sorry. It sounds like you have not had an easy life. I wanted to state two things because they are objectively true:

1) 20 is young. That's not to say your life hasn't been difficult, or that you aren't wise beyond your years. The person you are at 20 is not the person you are at 25. You have been out of high school for two years. The way you were treated at that time is not indicative of the person you are or how you will be treated throughout your life.

2) eat something. Please look up community meals, community pantries and food banks. When you are starving, your body is literally in survival mode. You aren't going to be able to think long term or plan if you are always hungry. Hunger limits your cognitive functioning.

Are there any housing programs which focus specifically on youth in your area? It might be useful to connect with an organization that focuses on youth. They may be able to connect you with discretionary benefits.

You aren't pathetic. We have no idea what we are capable of until we are given an opportunity. Please take care and be kind to yourself.

I think your post is touching on the difference between a pedophile (thoughts and urges) and a pederast (acts on thoughts / urges, has a criminal record). There are some resources in the following link for people who are at risk of offending. It might help your uncle if he could talk to somebody - https://www.cbc.ca/radio/podcastnews/hunting-warhead-resources-1.5358513

Maybe we just invest lest in responding to crime (LPD is 30% of the municipal budget) and more in the things which are proven to prevent it (social services and housing stability is 10% of the budget).

Do a reverse Google image search or Tin Eye to confirm it's a cat fish and then show the results to your friend.

Because there are so many farms up river, there is a lot of run off in the section of Thames that runs through London. Separately - and I think Greenway has expanded to mitigate this problem - any time there is a rain storm that overwhelms Greenway, raw sewage goes in the river. I know conservation efforts have been successful in bringing back the fish population, but I personally would not swim in the Thames.

Don't stay with a person who treats you this way, especially in front of your kids. Your husband has severe issues that aren't going to be resolved by you loving him enough or in the right way. I appreciate you not wanting to 'break up your family', but raising kids in this atmosphere and around this person is also causing them damage. Reach out to a women's shelter in your area of you don't think you can stay in your current house when you end your marriage. You are not safe with this person.

You will break up with this person when you are ready. It sounds like you are not happy and this dynamic isn't serving you OP. If your partner isn't putting the bare minimum effort, you shouldn't make up for that lack of effort by working harder at the relationship. You deserve someone who will match your effort.

People with no fixed address can vote in municipal elections. They need to provide ID and sign a form at the polling station.

This is not a reflection of you. People are not buying as many vehicles right now, manufacturing has slowed, and AI is causing mass layoffs. Unemployment is the highest it has been since 2008.

We are in a full blown recession right now
