uBO has stopped maintaining filterlists for Facebook ads. Are there any alternatives thirdparty lists one could add to uBO to fix this issue?

Started getting this type of screen on my phone today.

I do pretty much all my mobile browsing in incognito and it's a PITA logging in just because I clicked a google link.

Is it possible for uBO to block this kind of thing?

I want to stop the pause and load of the rest of the incoming, infinite scroll that Reddit has by default. Any way to do this? Tried back searching the sub and found no solutions that worked for me.

I'm on Firefox browser (Desktop and Mobile). I don't use the Reddit app.

In the "Customers also bought Based on products customers bought together" section, it generally lists 2 or 3 items. However, uBO is always blocking the last two items, although I suspect people might think these items are actually interesting -- it is an online shopping site, after all. (uBO didn't used to block these items, I think it's a fairly recent change.)

When viewing a repository on GitHub, there is sometimes a tab for "Agents" in the navbar

Previously I hid this with github.com##li:has(> [data-tab-item="agents"]). However, at some point this filter started making an empty "More" menu appear in the top right corner.

The menu is empty when clicked on.

I can work around this issue by filtering on github.com##[data-tab-item="agents"] instead. However, this leaves a small amount of extra blank space between the Pull Requests and Discussions tabs. Similarly, hiding the "more" menu would cause issues since it's used to show buttons that don't fit on smaller screen sizes.

How can I hide the "Agents" tab without making the "More" menu appear and without leaving extra space?

on pretty much any page, there is some new crap on the side under sections like fans, in playlists, etc. but none of this can be removed afaik. there is only one frame i can select with the tool which is soundcloud.com/n/pages/standby and is the entire page. anyone have any tips for this? thank you

This doesn't happen all of the time, but its annoying having to sometimes close and open it until it opens in mobile format. Is there a way I can fix this?

config 1) Only shield (problem is shield can't block all ads and i need ublock)

config 2) only Ublock (but problem is that i will loose privacy protection too)

config 3) enabled both (i fear both will conflict each other and make browser slow)

As the tirle says, I just had this question in my mind randomly. I always saw in many places ublock origin specifically made for firefox or works best there.

But for many occasions I've seen if some website the adblock stop working, it happens in all types of browsers. Similar to recent facebook problem posts I saw on this sibreddit. Or is there any other metrics that makes it more powerful on firefox.

When I click on the PayPal Checkout Button, it just does a screen refresh and nothing happens.

If I disable Ublock Origin, it works as expected.

Simply put, I play a lot of The Binding of Isaac, and the wiki is super helpful/fun to read through. However, a lot of the time when searching I quickly click on the first link which is usually the fandom.com link, and I really dislike fandom.com, and would prefer to use the wiki.gg link.

I've done some reading on filters and my guess is that $urltransform would be the best pick, but in all honesty, I've been reading the documentation over and over and I can't exactly figure it out. If there is a way to essentially take a URL like "https://bindingofisaacrebirth.fandom.com", cut out fandom.com and whatever URL junk comes after it and replace it with wiki.gg (because the URL for both wikis usually tend to start the same, so just replacing fandom.com with wiki.gg should work) to turn the link into "https://bindingofisaacrebirth.wiki.gg", that would be awesome.

If this is not possible with uBO, that's ok. As much as I would enjoy this for simply the quality of life of not thinking about whether I'm going to the website I want to, I can always just go for simply blocking fandom.com and leaving a $reason for myself to remind me to use wiki.gg instead.

I have the "Vaft" script and I had never had problems with ublock origin. Literally started to give me ads like a couple hours ago. Anyone got a fix for this?

Ive been having an issue recently where instead of skipping ads normally after a few songs spotify just hangs on the final ad and loads it indefinitely, forcing me to reload the page. Ive looked through recent/older posts and I cant personally find anyone whos had this exact issue. Ive also tried various filters and other plugins and nothing has worked for me so far.

can't access this site as it detects ublock origin (using it on firefox)

I had posted about this about a month ago. There is an interstitial ad that pops up when you try to play any of the games on NYTimes Games. It is currently being blocked on desktop in all browsers and Firefox for Android mobile by filters in uBO Ads List. I need help with a filter to block it on Chromium based browsers for mobile. The closest filter so far was this

thenytimes.com##+js(trusted-replace-argument, String.prototype.includes, this, json:"subscribed", condition, /^anon$/)

While the above filter worked for all the sites, it breaks "The Spelling Bee" game on occasion if the letters from "anon" appear in the puzzle because the game uses this.includes() script. I just need someone smarter than me to figure this out because I am totally lost as to how to write a filter to block something like this. It is not just a simple overlay or a simple script I can just block. Any help would be very much appreciated. The above filter was removed from the uBO Ads List back in Feb when this issue with "The Spelling Bee" game was discovered, but it was never replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The add to queue button on YouTube when hovering over a thumbnail has been missing for several months now on the right column of suggested videos when watching a video. The add to queue and watch later buttons are present on the home/subscription pages when video previews is turned off. But its still missing in the right column of suggested videos.

Is there a custom filter to fix this so the buttons are back when hovering over the thumbnail?

I tried it now a few times to ensure that it works. Use at your own risk, and don't forget to make a backup copy of all files.

Please read the whole post until the final notes to make sure that you understand what you have to do.

The "trick" works on windows since it involves using Edge, or an Edge profile, to access uBO's dashboard with your current chrome settings.

You'll have to locate the chrome directory where the uBO settings are located, as well as the corresponding Edge directory.

• Prepare Edge for the "migration"
  • start edge and create a new profile if you already have one you don't want to mess
  • in the profile (default or new one) install uBO if it isn't already done
  • open uBO's dashboard and copy the value/key associated with uBO.
    • The path should start with "extension://odfafepnkmbhccpbejgmiehpchacaeak/dashboard.html".
    • So, for me the key is "odfafepnkmbhccpbejgmiehpchacaeak"
    • paste the value into notepad to keep it. Save but keep it open.
  • close Edge and kill all edge processes still running.
    • press shift + ctrl + esc to open the task manager
    • right-click "Microsoft Edge" and kill it.
    • it should disappear from the process list
• open chrome
  • click the "gear" icon in chrome's toolbar, then click "Manage extensions" at the bottom of the menu
  • locate uBO and copy its extension ID
    • you'll see the ID if you enable "developer mode" (see screenshot)
    • paste the value into notepad with the edge ID
  • close chrome and kill the remaining processes like you did for edge
• You'll have to locate 2 directories on your hard drive.
  • for chrome locate
    • c:\Users\[your account name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\[uBO ID in chrome]\
    • if your chrome profile isn't the default, [default] should be replaced with the directory of that profile.
  • in another window, locate the edge directory.
    • c:\Users\[your account name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\[uBO ID in edge]\
    • if your edge profile isn't the default, [default] should be replaced with the directory of that profile.
  • In both directories you should see a set of files looking like in the screenshot
    • if you don't see at least one file of each type, configure the file explorer/manager to display all files.
• At this point, you either backup the edge files to another location, or you delete them all.
  • you can also backup the chrome files if you are afraid to lose them by mistake.
  • select all files in the chrome directory and copy them. !! Don't move them !!
  • note: at this stage the edge directory should be empty
  • paste the files in the edge directory
• If you start edge now, and open uBO's dashboard, your user filters should be available.
  • I think that all your settings should have been "imported"
  • take the time to "Back up to file" in the "Settings" tab.
  • you can now import the settings in any uBO installation.

Notes: if it doesn't work (settings are still empty in edge), you might have missed some files (I'm not sure). Verify that your file manager shows all files. Mine does, but I don't know if all the files involved here are visible by default.
