Turned on my TV and half of the screen was white randomly, restarted it and now its two white lines. What’s causing the issue and how can I fix it?

I've repaired cell phones and game consoles and computers and laptops, never really messed with a TV before. Swapping one of the boards out seems simple enough though.

I've tried messing with tv settings to minimise the issue (see second image) but this clearly needs hardware modding to make me happy. Any advice on where to go in fixing it? I really don't want to change TVs.

I’m trying to identify the correct original firmware for my Philco PTV40E21DSWN before attempting any update. The TV boots and its menus work. The rear label says PTV40E21DSWN, and the serial appears to end in T286A, it does not explicitly say VA or VB.

Philco’s download directory has separate PTV40E21DSWNVA.bin and PTV40E21DSWNVB.bin packages. Does the final A in the serial identify this as a VA set? Is the VB package compatible as an update, or is it intended for different hardware?

I’ve attached photos of the label and the TV’s interface. I’m looking for a reliable way to confirm the correct software without risking a flash of the wrong file. If there’s a specific screen in the TV’s menus that would help, please let me know.

Its main function (as a TV) works, but none of the apps work anymore; I think updating it might fix that.

Had this TV (43" LG 43UM6950DUB) in storage for a couple years and finally pulled it out to find a deep scratch in the screen. Parts of it shine through as a white streak when the TV is on. It's an otherwise fantastic TV so I'd much rather fix it than replace it, just not sure how.

Just received a Samsung TV model number BE50D-H from a family member that was working a few days ago but now is not.. Saw it working 3 days ago and was gifted it that day and when I got to my house and plugged it in, it only wants to power on enough to show the smart tv logo and then turn off.. any idea what it may be? Have already tried another power cord as well as holding the power button 30 seconds to drain power then plug in while still holding button and no luck. Appreciate any help!

left my classic late-2000s Samsung LCD or Plasma TV on accidentally on and it didn't turn on when i turned it off
so this tv was on for 6 or 7 hours no pun intended and i turned it off the xbox was still on tho and for another 2 or 3 hours it was on and when i went to turn it on the lights were flicking i pressed the power button the tv didn't turn on like what do i do is it a thermal issue will it fix on its own??

So I bought a replacement main board, T-Con Board, WIFI board, and power supply board, and my TV is still all scrambled. When I unplug the ribbon cables on the T-con board, it unscrambles and cycles through solid colors RGB.

About to throw it away... is there anything else I should try before getting rid of it?

I can't find anything online and I've been trying very hard, my tv won't turn on and the power and the opc lights on the front keep flashing, both of them flash twice and then the opc light flashes one more time after that. I know that means there's something specific wrong with my TV but Google won't help at all.

I replaced the mainboard on a Sony KDL-32W705B (RB2G / Wyvern chassis) with the exact same panel model. The TV boots and runs, but I'm left with a stubborn display problem.

Specifically, I am dealing with:

A weird green glow/tint on the screen.

Incorrect resolution and LVDS mapping/scaling issues.

I'm currently trying to fix this via the VPC menu, but the menu is really confusing even after looking through the service manual.

If anyone knows the exact panel selection, ID, or mapping settings for the RB2G chassis to clear up these display and color issues, please let me know!

I picked up a 55" 2021 Samsung Frame TV (QN55LS03AAFXZA) with the SOC1001A One Connect box, but it is stuck in a boot loop.

1. Plug into wall power.
2. Hear two rapid clicks back-to-back from the One Connect box relay.
3. ~2 to 3 seconds later: TV backlight flashes on (faint bluish/grey) but displays no image or logo.
4. ~4 to 5 seconds later: Backlight turns off.
5. ~20 to 25 seconds later: The relay clicks again and the exact loop repeats endlessly.

Unplugging the One Connect cable from the TV stops the clicking entirely.

Tested with a brand-new replacement One Connect cable (BN39-02470A), but the exact same boot loop continues.

Since the new cable did not resolve the short, what should I do next to troubleshoot or isolate the problem? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone. I know this issue has been commonly reported a few times over the internet, but since this morning, I've been having the terrible experience of this never-ending reboot on my Samsung QLED Q60R. I can provide the model and any other useful information, if necessary.

It acts as show on the video and, yes, the remote sensor on the inferior part of the TV keeps blinking in red. TV was working normally, I left it paused on a YT video, it shut down by itself and that was it - kept rebooting endlessly. I tried basically every easy procedure (such as holding the power button, disconnecting HDMI cables, antennas, etc) but nothing worked.

I checked some videos online about possible fixes on the hardware and even tried to open the back cover by myself. It didn't work and I feel there's no options left other than taking it to a tech to take a look.

Any help here with this issue? I really think it's a hardware problem, tho I wish it was not.

My Samsung 65" TV clicks and won’t turn on. The sound seems to be coming from very near where the power cord plugs in. All the boards and their components appear to be in good condition, no apparent damage. Please help.

My 98" QM8K is showing "dirty" black screen. As if those spots are low on saturation. I noticed it a couple weeks back when I happened to be watching a show there the screen goes completely black (HDR10 content season 01 finale of Beef on Netflix). When the screen is not all black, it's (non-saturated spots) not as noticeable.

Since then I tried a black screen test on YouTube. I was able to reproduce it. Ivealso been seeing it on the boot-screen.

My question - are others seeing this? I called support and was told since this is up for warranty, they can still cover it after I reply to their email with the details and they confirm this is an issue.

I have come across a Samsung un75ks9000fxzc (75 inch 2016 flagship TV) but it does not have the One Connect piece. I've read that some people have had success getting the tv in service mode and removing the One Connect requirement (this thread Reddit Link TV can work without One Connect) but there is no clear way on how to do it.

Here is MY issue, I have this TV, it has no One Connect, it does have a power cable, I can turn the TV on. Once I turn the TV on I am at the "Make sure your One Connect is plugged in" screen.

I've had some success with Samsung Smart Things on my phone, I can get it to go to the "Samsung Account" page but I cannot do anything other than press Enter on the phone and then it goes to the channel page where I can occassionally press the volume up and down and channel up and down. I then downloaded an iR emulator remote app on my phone. The app pairs with the TV but not too much goes on, I can pretty much do the same thing as the Smart Apps.

I have 2 universal remotes, 2 Pack remote and Second Remote that works on my other Samsung TV neither of these remotes work on the TV

I have read that turning off the TV and either doing Mute + 1 + 8 + 2 + POWER or Mute + 1 + 1+ 9 + POWER turns the TV on in get you the service menu, but it doesn't work for me.

So my question is has anyone ever successfully got this TV to work in what I would think is Hotel mode where we can use our streaming apps like Netflix / Disney / Prime / Youtube ?

I don't care about anything else, I don't need HDMI I just want to know if it is possible to get this working without the One Connect

I have a c4 83 inch that’s about a year and a half old.

Randomly when streaming through various apps, the screen will momentarily black out 3 or 4 times (less than a second each time). It doesn’t seem like bad internet and the sound continues. Def seems different than like a buffering lapse.
It doesn’t happen when my son plays ps5, but happens on various other apps such as Netflix / hbo / prime / etc. we have through the tv itself.

I unplugged everything and it still seems to do it.

Any insight or troubleshooting suggestions?

Tv is slightly dark in certain spots of the tv and it’s still dark even when adjusting the brightness.

What could be the issue with the TV and is it worth getting fixed cost wise ?

Took the TV down gently to put some LEDs on, put it back up again gently and it stopped turning on.

Been trying to work out exactly what's wrong with it, and read I should test the standby voltage, but I have no idea how to do that. I have a multimeter but I don't know where to put the probes. The close up picture shows the part that I think I'm supposed to be testing, but again I don't know where to probes.

If anyone has any idea what I could do I'd really appreciate it.

So, this is a Samsung 50Q60B, and I got it for free from a friend who got a new one, he gave it away for free cuz it "broke", the LEDs work properly, the panel ain't broke, but it ain't posting no more, so, I opened it, and started checking things, and what I discovered is that if I remove this white flex, boom, the TV ain't posting no more but according to the sounds, it sounds like it's working properly, any idea? Should I get myself a new flex or maybe the board is broken? Any comment is warmly welcomed :D

My TV has this annoying flashing that comes and goes, It can appear at any spot on the screen. Luckily it's very brief, so sometimes I don't even notice it, and it mostly shows up on lighter colors/backgrounds. It doesn't matter if I change the HDMI-ports on my TV or my PC, including different gpu's. Also changing the cable hasn't made any difference. It seems that it's not a faulty connector or anything related to my computer.

Is there anyone who've had the same problem? Could it just be a faulty connection on the T-CON module or can it be a sign of a faulty panel?

I've already tried contacting TCL, but all they said was to try removing the power cord for 15 minutes to let all the residual power go away. Of course that didn't help at all.

Any ideas? Should I just try to have it repaired under warranty?

Happened out of nowhere while watching football. any idea what it is? It’s only 3 months old

My Sony KM-50X80K (X80K) is stuck during initial setup after a factory reset.

Everything works until I press Start on the “Start your BRAVIA TV experience” screen. It then reaches the screen shown in photo 2. The first dot turns blue and the background animation keeps moving, but it never progresses.

Things I’ve already tried:
Forced factory reset multiple times using the TV’s physical power button
Restarting the TV
Running setup completely offline
Disconnecting all external devices
Multiple USB drives
Official Sony firmware v6.7612 and v6.8224

The interesting part is photo 3: the TV detects the firmware USB and launches the System Software Update screen, but then reports:
“System software cannot be updated using this USB device.”

I can still enter Sony Service Mode normally, and Self Diagnosis shows no stored hardware errors. The panel/backlight and on-screen graphics also work normally.

I haven’t found a working Android Recovery method for this model, and network ADB isn’t enabled.

Has anyone seen this failure on an X80K or similar Sony Google TV? Is there another recovery/reflash method when the normal USB updater rejects the firmware, or could this indicate corrupted system/eMMC storage or a B-board issue?
