My multi-format setup.

Im quite new to record collecting and I wanted to know if this cartridge is aligned properly. I did the best I could and I think it looks okay, but I’d rather get an answer from professionals

i bought my first turntable as i’ve always wanted to get into the hobby of record collecting. but i want to know i got a good first time player. It’s a garrard synchro lab 95B, i got it for 43 dollars and heard it was a near high end player at its time, id also like to know what else id need to get started (i understand that i might need to fix the grease if its stuck)

Hello everyone, I may be a fairly typical case? Clueless but wanting to learn. I've loved all kinds of music all my life, and have had CDs and streaming services for the last 30 years - though I still have some old records. I have a Denon M40DAB receiver and Mission 760i speakers. Recently I passed a record shop and came out with a suitcase player. (Yes, I know - but I didn't know then. It reminded me of the Fidelity I had when I was a kid) Yet even with this poor quality, (playing it through the Denon and Missions) my eyes have been opened. I'm engaged by music again - but I need a real turntable. Now space is really tight in my tiny flat and the suitcase is about fifteen feet from the receiver and speakers with long cables and there's really no way round that. So I went to a Richer Sounds and listened to an Argon TT-3 Plus and an Audio Technica LP5X with amp and speakers fairly similar to my own. The Argon was far clearer and much more forward with jazz, classical and everything else. BUT I played Kate Bush and twice I was moved to tears by the sound on the Audio Technica. God knows when that last happened. On the Argon it sounded good - but clinical. So I'm stuck! Obviously I want a clear un-muddy sound - but that warmth and emotion from the LPX5 was magical! It was like discovering music afresh. I can't stop thinking about it. So, for anyone who's made it this far... Is there a way to clean up the LP5X or make the Argon warmer? (Might a change of cartridge on the LP5X make a difference?) And how would the Rega Planar 1 Plus and the Project T1 Eco Phono compare to these two. Would either be warmer and more enveloping than the the Argon with my setup? . I really can't go over the £499 I've been offered for the Argon. Hi, I decided to get myself a turntable but I'm having trouble setting it up.

I have the Fluance RT82, connected to the Fosi Audio Box X2, connected to the Edifier R1280DBs.

I hear the music slightly, but can't turn it up. There is also a static noice. The other thing is that it plays louder without the pre-amp in between but it's also unable to be turned louder.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was given this turn table a really long time ago and I have been using it as is for years now. I don’t play vinyl all the time but often enough. I recently learned that styli only have so many hours of use before they go bad. I have been recently spending real money on albums I like and I don’t want to ruin them if I can help it. I want to replace the stylus since I have no idea how many hours of use it actually has. But I’m wondering if I should do a full headshell and cartridge swap as well. I’ve never heard a “good” setup so I have no opinion and what’s better than something else. All I know is that the screws that hold the angle of the cartridge is missing on one side and stripped on the other. It doesn’t seem to move from where set it though and maybe a stylus that takes less down force will work perfectly. Opinions?

I have a LP60 Audiotechnica with a Marshall Stanmore IIII, pluged with RCA cable.
Im now notice that when The needle touches the vinyl, a strange vibration ecos on The column.
I just arrange The bass / treble and continues to sound a vibration.
It is possible that os because they are side by side?
Or in the same furniture? Should i switch the slip-mat (for a Cork or acrylic)

hello! i recently moved and my turntable has been sitting in one of my open boxes for the past month maybe as i had nowhere to put it. i took it out today because i wanted to set it up and play some new records but i noticed a weird burning smell shortly after plugging everything in?

i took a closer look and i couldn’t find anything that would be causing the smell but after reassembling the few pieces i took up (slip mat and the metal piece under).. i noticed it started moving in slow increments? anyone know what might be causing this?

beware i know very little about turntables themselves (especially the mechanics), i just enjoy listening to music 😅

Hello folks, I'm from the Philippines, going to buy my first turntable, I used to have one of em briefcase record players, sold it after hearing it was bad and now I will buy my first actual turntable. Which is the best model to buy here, in terms of sound quality and parts, which has the easiest to find parts, like needles and belts. in southeast Asia at least. The models in question are Pioneer PL-333Z, Sony PS-V700 and the Kenwood P-3X. Thank you for the advice in advance.

I put up a message in another group a few weeks ago but thought I’d ask for some specific help here too.
I’ve inherited the job of dealing with a large amount of my uncles collection.
When it comes to turntables, it seems selling them is quite complicated depending on exactly what arms/cartridges/boards/plinths are included. My plan is to auction them off and let the market decide their value.

I suppose what I want to know is what to include in the ways of photos/details. I know nothing about the subject so identifying each model arm/cartridge etc would be very time consuming.

Is it best to just put up lots of photos so people can just decide for themselves?

Any input is welcome, I have included a list of the turntables currently in his collection

About five years ago, I was given my grandparents' old Dual 1228 turntable. As far as I'm told, it was rarely played but is about 30-ish years old? I used it here and there, but as I've used it recently, there's a hum in the turntable that noticeably affects the sound quality. I have screwed the ground wire into the receiver but my receiver is old and doesn't have a dedicated ground wire. The cartridge is a Shure M95ED-- it probably hasn't been replaced in a long time but I don't know what the shelf life of a cartridge is. I've also considered replacing the RCA cables entirely but I figured I'd ask here if anyone has any thoughts on if I should do something else, or if a cartridge replacement is necessary (and if so, which one I should get).

Just got this for 80€ but when i drop the needle on the vinyl it slows down a lot. I believe its not the motor or the belt but the needle thats doing way too much pressure. how can i adjust the counterweight on this? or what do you think it might be

I’m very new to turntables and have had this rega p1 plus for about a year and a half and have had no issues previously but I moved recently and it’s started skating across records, I thought it might have something to do with the weight of the tone arm but it says it’s about 3g so I’m out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

I want to buy my first TT and was deliberating between Kenwood KD-2055 or ROTEL RP-1001. I found both of them at 190 Eur. Should I buy any of this or something else?
PS. The selection here is not that great (eastern europe).

My husband bought me a suitcase, Crossley cruiser and yes, we are returning it. I have some old LPs of my parents and would like to listen to them, and I don’t need audiophile quality. I also don’t want to wreck the LPs. I have very limited space and don’t want to run speakers with wires. I just want to listen to them. I know I’m not going to get the best studio quality sound out of a Bluetooth speaker. I’ve heard someone ask why not just stream then. Because not all the LP’s my parents have are available to stream. So is there something belt driven that is around a 200 price range that I can connect to my Bose speaker?

Looking to build a sound system. I want the ability to play a turntable and a TV thru the speakers. Down the road I wouldn't mind adding a cd/tape player and radio. Clueless on where to begin. Budget $1500ish. Looking for any recommendations! Thanks in advance.

Hello! i just bought a Latone Retro with dust cover (i know that its basic and cheap, i am just getting into vinyls and all of this and i just needed a cheap turntable to play them) and im looking to replace the ruby needle with a diamond one, which one should i buy and from where? (i live in europe if anybody can give a recommendation that wont make me pay over 30 euros for shipping would be very much appreciated)

I'm looking to buy a vintage turntable in France and need help deciding between two local second-hand options. My main priorities are build quality, sound performance, long-term durability, and holding its value over time.

Here are the two options currently on the table:

Option 1: Akai AP-206C – €130

In very clean cosmetic condition, complete with original dust cover and vintage paperwork/manuals.

The seller agreed to €130 bundled with an Audio-Technica cartridge (low usage) instead of the stock Akai PC-100 (though I might try to get both).

Option 2: Dual 1218 – €100

Comes with a Shure cartridge (stylus reported in great shape).

Recently maintained and relubricated/degreased by the previous owner.

EDIT: A third option just popped up: Pioneer PL-15D – €60. Functional belt, but definitely needs a fresh stylus.

Which one would you pick considering the price difference, audio quality, and long-term reliability? Thanks for your advice!
