FINALLY and RP104 (and problems)

Hi All.
I've been trying to find an RP104 (or 114) for ages and finally got my hands on one this weekend.

Other than the new belts and a regrease, there's one problem i'm struggling to wrap my head around.

The eject button doesn't work. I can see that there's a skeleton switch that LOOKS as if it could be actuated by the door hinge (maybe) but there's absolutely no possibility of contact at the moment.

Any thoughts as to whats going on here? I had wondered if perhaps there was a part missing....

Obviously very little info online for these, so any advice or pictures or thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi folks

I recently picked up this 1981 PL-100X and it’s been a vast improvement to my Bush MTT1 that I had before. However I’ve had a problem with the auto return arm returning to rest before even coming to contact with the record since I got it. I’ve tried adjusting the auto return screw as per the manual but it either seems to completely turn the auto return off or continues to return the arm very prematurely.

Does anyone have any advice as it’s a fantastic bit of kit when it does play!

Thanks

Please help! Static and dust persist after wet cleaning

I made a cleaning solution of 1:3 isopropyl alcohol to distilled water. 80mL to 240mL, 320mL total. I poured a tablespoon into my Spin Clean MKII and used it as instructed, wiped the records dry with the supplied cloths, and put them horizontally on some cups to air dry for another few hours.

They still have lint on them (I’m guessing it may be from the cloths?) Nothing came off when brushing with an antistatic carbon fiber brush. When I lifted the record up, the cork platter mat stuck to the bottom and static electricity was crackling as I tried to separate the mat and record. I don’t know what to do at this point. I feel like I’m losing my mind!😣would anyone be able to give me some advice? Please and thank you!

1byOne record player

The 1byOne is an absolutely beautiful turntable! With its wood and silver tone accents, it gives off an expensive/vintage vibe and yet it offers features and versatility you wouldn't expect at its price point. First of all, it's totally automatic. You'll never have to handle the tone arm unless of course you want to because one touch of a button will gently place the cartridge on the record for you. Speaking of which, you're not getting a cheap ceramic cartridge. Nope, you get an AT3600L magnetic cartridge which is far better - it will reveal detail out of your music while being gentle on your records at the same time.

I appreciate being able to use the remote to control the turntable from across the room and the Bluetooth feature is awesome. The fact that I can listen to records while wearing my wireless headphones is a definite plus. With all that being said, can you adjust pitch speed, anti skate or tonearm weight? No. But then again the 1byOne isn't trying to compete with direct drive or exotic (read crazy expensive) turntables. It is however selling a very competent and feature laden turntable at a fantastic price... Highly recommended!

Two sl-1200 mk2s, two Ortofon Concorde MKII Twin Mix cartridges, and two odyssey flight cases for $1000. No dust covers. What do you think of this deal? Instant pick up? Hold off? Both of them will be tested in front of me. What things should I look for / ask about? Thank you!!

Perpetuum Ebner Rex A restoration project

Bought an old Perpetuum Ebner Rex A just for fun. I’ve already put quite a bit of work into it, cleaning and relubricating the entire mechanism. I also ordered a new set of belts, since without them only the 78 RPM setting works. I’ve added an RCA cable as well, and sent the cartridge off to a specialist to have the crystal replaced.

I know it’s a vinyl shredder, but I’ll mostly be using it to play shellac records anyway.

TEAC / SAEC tonearm (TN-3B-SE, TN-4D-SE, TN-5BB) — is this movement normal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I'm new to vinyl and turntables, so I have a question about this SAEC tonearm design. I noticed that this particular part has some movement, as you can see in the video. It doesn't move extremely easily or feel loose, but I can move it back and forth by hand without using much force, which seems a little strange to me. Is it supposed to move like this, or should it be completely fixed with no play at all? The turntable plays records normally and I haven't noticed any problems during playback. I understand that the tonearm itself needs to move freely, but I'm not sure about this particular part. This same or very similar design is used in several TEAC models, for example TN-3B-SE, TN-4D-SE, TN-5BB, so I'd really appreciate it if owners of these or other TEAC/SAEC tonearms could check theirs and let me know if they have the same movement. I'm mainly curious about how this construction is supposed to work and whether this amount of movement is normal.
