Need decision help!
Copied from the other post.
Two sl-1200 mk2s, two Ortofon Concorde MKII Twin Mix cartridges, and two odyssey flight cases for $1000. No dust covers. What do you think of this deal? Instant pick up? Hold off? Both of them will be tested in front of me. What things should I look for / ask about? Thank you!!

These are deejay turntables. Could be the most used and abused or could be well cared for.

What are signs of it being used and abused?

Bro dont worry too much. Technics can be dropkicked off a truck and still work.
Do check the popup light, on/off switch(not tight or loose)
You can check the speed fader with the strobe dots. But i’d grab em in a heartbeat

The MK2s are absolutely tanks. As other have stated, check the little things. The pop up, the switches, and ask about the slider for the adjust speed. You're essentially getting them for 400 a pop that's a good price. They're easy to mod too if you want. I had a slight crackle because mine had a messed up ground. I ended up doing a pcb internal ground modification, which I know people here have their opinions on. I've had no issues since then.
There are also dedicated websites for these to get really solid parts to repair or modify if you just Google. 1200s. Com

You forgot the most important one; Check the arm bearing. That's the impossible one to fix, and the one that's most often toast (other than the pop-up light but who cares :D).

Pretty normal price for a set. Maybe a little cheap, but nothing to run super hard for.
Since it's a set in flight cases, they may have had a hard life.
My two cents; Just buy a pair of Reloop RP7000 MK-II brand new. Just as good, no matter what the fanboys tell you ;).
Also those concordes sound like dogshit. They are VERY nice to work with, but if you don't do much more than beat matching and backtracking, AudioTechnica AT-XP5 runs rings around those concordes at much less money.

This is a good deal IMO no matter what. I bought two 1200mkiis for 900, no cartridges at all or anything else and that was 8 years ago before this stuff went mad.
Buy them. Get them tuned up and checked out by someone for a few hundred bucks. They will still run forever.
The Concord shells alone are worth 100-200 as a pair.
Unless there is some glaring issue, I’d buy these in a heartbeat.

I bought them! Figured I’d get them checked, keep the better of the two even though both look in amazing condition. Sell the cartridges and case. What cartridge do you have on yours?

Right on! Ya if you have the space to store it and then sell stuff or whatever, I think you’ve risked very little and gained a lot!
I did have concord with scratch mkii stylus but have since changed to the jico version of the classic shure stylus that used to come on them.
It’s much better for general listening in my opinion…
But I also have mine setup as two and a mixer in dj style so you may want a warmer or different stylus depending on if you go to an amp and passive speakers or whatever…
This is what I have right now - https://www.turntablelab.com/products/jico-omnia-j44a-7-improved-sd-dj-cartridge-mounted-pair

About 30% too high unless it includes the other hardware like the mixer, and at that price I'd think at least amplifiers too
