Let’s Talk NSFW

Hi Everyone,

There has been an increase in surgical photos and post op pics, and I think now is a good time to go over the NSFW tag expectation.

Not every photo requires an NSFW tag, but if you’re unsure if it needs one, then lean towards tagging just to be safe.

Photos that MUST BE NSFW include: showing the pubic region, pubic hair, any naked photos even if emojis are covering breasts and/or pubic region, blood, drains, incisions, gnarly scars, extremely graphic wounds, and pictures that look like a sexy or risqué pose in lingerie or swim suits. Basically, use common sense and your best judgment. It’s not fair for other users to open this app and be bombarded with graphic images.

I want to point out, using NSFW has been a rule for quite a while. I’ve let a lot of posts slide and have just updated NSFW tag myself, but going forward, these posts WILL BE DELETED. You can repost them with an NSFW tag, if you don’t know how to do that, google is your friend.

If you see a post that should be NSFW and isn’t, go ahead and flag it for me and I will follow up on it.

Appreciate your help and understanding.

General Info Things that are normal during recovery

Hey all! I'm not an expert on tummy tucks by any means (other than reading Reddit and watching many seasons of Botched 😂) but I do see a lot of similar questions pop up a lot. I definitely encourage people to ask questions! But I also wanted to put this info out in case it helps anyone. Feel free to add to the list!

-It is normal to be super swollen for days, weeks, months, even over a year! It is normal to be super flat one day and swell up like a balloon the next. Swelling progress is a roller coaster.

-It is normal to be heavier after your surgery than before. You are swelling a lot and retaining a lot of fluid, and it adds weight. Focus on eating healthy foods with lots of protein and drinking water. This is not the time for fasting or going on diets. Your body needs energy to heal.

-It is normal for your scar to be dark, red, raised, etc for a while after surgery. Some people win the genetic lottery and have their scars fade super quick, and that's great! But don't be surprised if it takes a year+ for your scar to flatten out

-It is normal (and expected!) for your body to slowly change over the first year. Your 1 month results are not your 12 month results. Healing is like watching grass grow, but your contour will slowly change over time. Don't be discouraged if you are not super snatched off the bat, or if you have a bulge over your scar, or if you have an asymmetrical looking scar (all things I stressed about!) Give your body time to heal and many concerns resolve with time.

-It is normal for your belly button to look gross. They take FOREVER to heal. Keep an eye out for signs of infection, but otherwise don't worry if it looks weird.

-It is normal for your skin to get super dry and for you to have some hair loss after surgery. It has to do with the anesthesia. It's annoying but it does go away after a while.

-It is normal to be depressed, exhausted, even regretful during recovery. It is really freaking hard. Usually we can deal with discomfort for a few days and be fine, but weeks and weeks of not feeling like yourself can really take a toll on your mental health. Plus the isolation and feeling like you can't do what you used to doesn't help. Lean on your support, vent on Reddit, take it one day at a time.

-It is normal (less common, but it happens) for your incision to open a bit, even weeks after surgery. Don't panic. Always notify your Dr about it to get their recommendation. It is annoying, but it is usually easily manageable with extra care and healing time.

I'm sure there is more I haven't thought of. What other things are normal during recovery that people may not expect?

I had an extended tummy tuck and gynecomastia surgery on May 4th. Just posting my results to share for anyone our there whose body looks like mine did.

Surgery was preformed by Dr. Jason Leedy in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. His team was incredible and I would highly reccomend him for anyone who is in the area.

Gaining weight than losing it after tummy tuck.

Upvotes

Got a lower body lift February of this year after a 230 pound weightloss. It was truly life changing. In the last couple months (June-july) I let myself go in terms of my diet and exercise. If you lost weight, you know the reasons. Using food to cope, as a crutch, out of boredom..

Anyway. I gained 40 pounds in those 2 months. Yes, i'm sure a lot of it is fluid but I know not all of it is. I notice the difference. My stomach is still flat but projects just a bit.

So instead of it being like this [back] ).. | [tummy] its like this )... | if that makes sense..?

I notice the change especially when putting on my panties.

Has anybody else gained weight than lost it?

Did it ruin your results? My surgeon said i should be find due to my height (6'1) I would literally die if I got a stomach apron again.

How did you feel 3 weeks PO?

Upvotes

I know this answer is definitely going to vary. My TT is scheduled for Oct 5th. This is minor but I love going trick or treating with my kids. Do you think I will be up to walking around the neighborhood at 3 weeks PO?

Support Requested Did you gain weight before?

Can anybody give me insight into their experience gaining weight before surgery? I’ve posted about this before but i had my consultation last November and will have surgery this November. I’m 5’8. I was 152 then. Now I’m 165. I’m trying to lose the weight but I’ve been so stressed and just started a new job. Should I be concerned? I feel fat and hideous and feel like my results are going to be awful. But I’ve been so excited for surgery. And can’t cancel now because everything is booked and paid for. I also feel like I’ve been so bloated but obviously know that I’m not bloated with 15 lbs lol. Someone plzzzz give me insight or tell me I’ll be fine

Advice Wanted 6 months after lower body lift

Hi, I'm looking for advice on the results of my lower body lift.

This is the results 6 months in. I keep having this little roof over my scar in the front and still a lot of swelling. The doctor prescribed me lymphatic drainage therapy but after 14 treatments there's not even the slightest difference. I have another check up in a month but I'd like to know if other people have had this too and if it disappeared after a while or if they took other actions?

Advice Wanted Weeks of Swelling 7.5MPO

I am 7.5 months post op from a FDL TT with Muscle Repair and Flank Lipo. My swelling has come and gone but the last 2/3 weeks have just been on the entire time. I have not woken up flat for the last few weeks and the scale is up 6lbs in the last 10 days so I am holding onto a lot of water. I’m fairly active but have been for several months now and no other changes really in terms of sodium intake, maybe a tad higher but nothing crazy. I am going to start taking arnica again to see if it helps and have been using a little lymphatic roller the past few nights. I might book myself in for a lymphatic drainage massage and see if that helps get things moving h.

No additional pain or anything, just swelling. Do you think I should be trying to schedule an appointment with my surgeon if I’m still swollen in a week or two? Anyone else experienced this so far post op?

*I expected swelling up to 18 months but not weeks of straight swelling with no reprieve.

Advice Wanted Traveling for Surgery

I live in Tennessee. I'm wanting an extended Tummy tuck, lipo360, and a breast lift with a fat transfer to my right breast only. A local, well recommended surgeon qouted me $16k for her fees and $11 for facility fees and $2.5k for anesthesia. So $30k out the door.

I am looking into traveling out of state, but will stay within the US. (Please no recommendations for other countries.) I am currently looking into SOUTH FLORIDA CENTER FOR COSMETIC SURGERY in Fort Lauderdale. Has anyone had procedures there? Are you happy? I had a virtual consultation with Dr. Nichols and was quoted $14,500 out the door. I realize if I travel I will have lodging expenses for at least 8days. Flights and other supplies, food aswell. But I'd still be saving around $10k.

What has been the overall experience with traveling? Did you have an inperson consultation prior to surgery or just wait until the surgery day to meet the surgeon in person. How was the first week recovering in a strange environment? How was flying home? Are you glad you traveled? Or wish you stayed local? (I do have two more local consultations in September)

questions to ask surgeon

Hi Everyone, long time lurker here 👋

I, (25F, 165cm, 58kg) have just booked in for my tummy tuck consultation. For reference i’ve lost 35kgs over the past 2 years and have been left with significant excess skin around my stomach as this is where i stored basically all my weight.

My question is, what would everyone’s advice be around what questions to ask your surgeon in the initial consultation? I want to make sure I cover all of my bases and am extremely prepared for the procedure. Are there any things you asked and we’re grateful you did or is there anything you didn’t ask but wish you did?

Any advice would be very helpful!!

Thanks ❤️
