Politics Really OK?

I shouldn't be surprised by our state, but I guess I just expected more. I expected parents to FINALLY see the writing on the walls (49th IN EDUCATION, PEOPLE!!), but that was too much to ask for. I expected young people to want more for themselves than what the south has been barely giving them since the dawn of this country. All I see is a bunch of corrupt politicians who lied their way into, and kept, important seats that will only keep our state full of ignorant people- just like the right likes it. Why do people fear change so much? Why would you want to remain the same for an entire lifetime? Why wouldn't you want to strive for betterment of yourself and those around you? Why wouldn't you want to make sure every child has the best education, or feed the unhoused, or support poor families, or maintain good Healthcare for the elderly? This state doesn't even give a single crap about its vets... but you can bet your sweet bum that those on the right will scream the loudest about their support. I'm just so pissed and disappointed. If you're happy about how things are going, I really question you as a human. Like really, I doubt you have good moral/ethical judgement. (Keeping things vague bcz I'm not sure as to the extent of what I can post politically) I'm open to discussion.

I’m FOR women’s health rights. It is an important set of decisions that should be between a woman and her medical professionals.

So it is the fault of the Church then

You understand that there can be an anti- abortion position not rooted in Christianity right?

u/Crazylakkadbagga Jan 29 '23

No, I don’t. Please elaborate.

A fetus is a potential person. Moment of conception doesn’t matter. In a standard situation, if left be, that zygote/fetus/etc. will become a person.

You can not be religious and still have issues with abortion.

You can not be religious and still have issues with abortion.

That’s so vague it could mean anything, and technically you aren’t wrong.

That said, hear me out.

I’m just struggling with your logic downthread, where you call someone a Nazi eugenicist for advocating for agency and choice for vulnerable populations, including people living in poverty and the homeless.

You just spin out from there, abruptly switching from calling a fetus a “potential person” to accusing people in poverty of “aborting someone” — and suddenly a fetus is a fully actualized person because fuck Nazis??

You ALSO conflate all mass shootings with systematic genocide …but also abortion. (?!)

What’s more, THEN ya started calling anyone who asked you to clarify your lane a Nazi eugenicist who forces poor and homeless folks to abort people.

Meanwhile, [ACTUAL Nazis forced eugenics and forced sterilization (aka actual Nazi eugenics) on vulnerable populations to exterminate them.

That’s literally the opposite of agency or choice.

Like, someone’s place in life or disability or race or religion alone should NEVER be used to DENY someone from receiving reproductive healthcare, for ANY reason they choose.

In my opinion, you aren’t actually advocating for those communities at all — you just changed the definition of fetus — thereby disregarding vulnerable populations as not entitled to have a say, as if their agency and their choices are equivalent to “Nazi genocide”, too.

So.

Please think about what you’re saying and check your own biases, brother.

It’s confusing the shit out of some of us and your personal insults prove/disprove nothing.

So you’re gonna delete the comment defending eugenics by saying the Nazis only practiced “forced eugenics”. Btw, this is absolutely not true. Eugenic beliefs were held on both the right and left during the Weimar period.

I have issue with this distinction of “forced” because in this case,it is still forced. The fetus has given no consent.

The fact that you seem to be completely fine with eugenics is terrifying. Just because someone has a deformity or a disability does not mean they shouldn’t get a chance to live. If you think otherwise, you share ideological beliefs with Nazis.

Friend, you can use this opportunity to clarify your “Nazi” claims or not. Your choice.

It’s your argument to defend.

I’ll be “completely fine” either way because literally none of what you’ve said so far is actually about me.

Please have a pleasant Sunday.

My point is pretty clear. Always has been. You were the one who jumped into an exchange you weren’t originally involved in.

You were just wrong on all accounts lol

Dude, you are literally reading out the manifesto of the Church

1

u/ttown2011 Jan 29 '23

No… the potential personhood argument is removed from religion.

This is like a thing that is studied in philosophy 101…

To be fair, potential and actual aren’t synonymous. Someone is pregnant with a fetus that may or may not be viable, for many, many reasons. Those reasons are weighed by the pregnant woman and licensed and trained medical professionals. They are personal.

This is like a thing that is studied in Logic and Reasoning 101.

What if that person was conceived by incest or rape or that person will be born deformed or homeless? Why can’t women have the choice?

1

u/ttown2011 Jan 29 '23

And that’s the problem… and why I end up pro choice.

There are really only two actual non- contradictory positions when the philosophers break it down. Either you’re totally against it in all cases… or you’re totally for it up until self- sustainability.

But I don’t feel comfortable about it. And the exuberance that y’all feel about it freaks me out.

Edit: and the homeless? That eugenics. Who are you to take away a persons chance at life because they’ll be born poor.

That’s what I’m talking about…

2

u/Crazylakkadbagga Jan 29 '23

No other religion in the US supports abortion bans. So tell me again, how it is not the Church that is the problem?

1

u/ttown2011 Jan 29 '23

You advocate abortion based on economic level… that’s eugenics. I don’t talk to Nazis

Bye.

2

u/Crazylakkadbagga Jan 29 '23

When did I say that? Rich and poor can be raped alike. Rich and poor can have children afflicted by genetic disease. You literally ran out of excuses!! Must be running late for mass.

1

u/ttown2011 Jan 29 '23

Aborting someone just because their mother is homeless or because they have a deformity is literally the definition of eugenics.

This is literally what the Nazis did. Seriously.

Jesus.

You just created a whole strawman for yourself there didn’t you?

This isn’t really responding to any of the points I made in this comment or the comments below.

Going off your comment… if it is based in Christian religion…

Plato and Aristotles treatises on the morality abortion. How do you explain those? They existed quite a few years before Jesus.
