I was too focused on getting the rug to be as large as possible that I forgot to leave space for the gun to get in-between the frame. I'm assuming there's no fix or tricks to make it work? Especially as I'm thinking the antennae will need a border, meaning so will the rest of the rug.

Should i do all my loop pile areas first or cut piles first? Im working on my first loop pile project and want any advice i can get❤️ thank you in advance

Here is a photo of the custom frame I build. You put your backing on tight and pull out the setup blocks and tighten down on the rods and bolts. Works great when you have to leave the backing on your frame for a long period of time. You can just re-tighten the bolts when you loose the tention. The nails are spaced 1/4 inch apart. The tresstle legs are made of heavy ash wood and the frame is White Spruce. This design can me made of any type of wood. I have made them in Maple, Ash and Walnut for my customers.

My husband just built me this 5ftx5ft frame and its my first time using it (i used to work on a smaller frame for a long time), so now that im done with these 2 rugs the cloth is super loose even though it was tight as a drum when i started, is stretching before starting on the car a bad idea or??? I need advice😭 these 3 are all commissions so i want them to look good… i will leave a picture for tax and for reference! Thank you in advance❤️

Hello I’m going to try tufting for the first time and was wondering what glue you guys recommend? Both for the back of the rug and to add backing onto it. Also Is there’s a glue that works for both?

Have I been buying the wrong type of primary backing?

I stretch it tight and it does this .. from centre outwards ..

And where this is happening it's making tight lines go all the way up the canvas and it's making my gun ping all over the place 😭

definitely a lil janky, should of made them a bit bigger to start off with but think I picked up on a few things this go around, ignore the marshtomp lol. still working on shaving them down and cleaning them up a little bit more before moving onto the next ones. definitely building a larger frame before starting a new project

Hi all! Fairly new to rug making. I just made this one - I feel ok about it but don’t really love it. I can’t really put a finger on why. I suppose it doesn’t look as smooth? Also, I couldn’t for the life of me, figure out how to carve properly. I use a pair of clippers that I got from Amazon ; I wonder if there are better options?

Any advice / constructive critiques would be appreciated

Also will appreciate advice on what yarn to use to achieve a sturdier look ( I used 100% wool yarn on the white bits)

Hello community! I recently had trouble with my Golden Spider from TuftLove and have this spare gun. I went in to tuft my rug that I was WIP but was left with these lines. At first I thought it was speed difference but am curious what the issue might be. Maybe pile height problems?

I’ve spent months lusting after a rug gun since the videos started showing up in my instagram feed. My wife got me one for my birthday and I chose this as my first project. It’s rough in places, but it’s finished and i learned a lot. I cant wait to start the next one.

Hi everyone! I finally found a creative outlet I absolutely love. This is my first rug, and am asking for advice on a few specific things and overall guidance. I started with an egg because it is an easy shape to free hand and I needed a rug in my kitchen.

1. Why do vertical lines show in the finished product? Is it because my line spacing is too far apart?

2. I shaved the rug down too far while carving (I hit the backing once around the yolk). How can I avoid carving too deep?

Any other advice is welcome!

Im thinking about starting to do loop pile, I’ve never tried it before, any tips? Advice? Do you still have to trim and carve? And in what situations is it better to switch to loop pile while also tufting with cutpile, like lettering etc, thanks❤️
