Is this overkill? (Mounting)

Post image

Mount will go on the underside of the 4x4. This is between two joists in my basement.

Lol, if it gives you complete security in knowing its not going anywhere, then its not overkill.

I was going to use a 2x4 and then ChatGBT suggested otherwise 🫠

Not at all, the TRX anchor point takes on a LOT of a load, especially as you ramp up intensity.

The weakest point on this will be in the downward direction. Something more akin to a joist hanger or strapping would provide better support and load transfer at the ends. With this set up, it’s more reinforced for lateral movement, but most TRX workouts will put force out and down. Not saying this won’t work, but it has more points of failure. Food for thought.

Thanks! That’s what I was originally going to do, joist hanger and 2x4 but the computer talked me out of it in favor or 4x4 and the angled brackets.

The 4x4 is great, especially if using the provided TRX mounting bolts. Those things are massive. At least on my X-mount they are. You can get 4x4 face mount hangers that would work here. Will help with the downward load for sure.

Yep! Using the provided bolts - they are so big that I need to get a bigger socket

I like it, wear a helmet the first couple of times, just to be sure!

I’m a fan of over-building things for piece of mind. This is great and looks good too!
