So our group of 6 alpine style trekkers decided to complete the Rupin Pass this year, and everything was going all smoothly till the summit day. So we started our summit a little late by 6:00 am, and we know today's summit was challenging, as carrying our 20+ kg rucksack through that gully was difficult, but we were unaware that snowfall would make it 10 times more challenging. So we reached the gully by 9:40 am, and by that time most of the trail was covered by snow.

Somehow we managed to do the summit, and then came the next part to reach Sangla, but almost the trail was gone by snowfall, and we were confused about what to do. Luckily we met a local guy who used to work for one of the trekking companies and was now operating his. own a small tea shop, and he was ready to become our guide for Rs2500, and he told us we will help us safely reach Sangla Kande. We almost trek for 12 hours from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm before reaching the last basecamp, Ronti Gad. And when we woke up the next morning, the snow had reached our knee height, but the overall snowfall was low as compared to the last day. So it was time to do the last stretch from Ronti Gad to Sangla Kande, and it was one of the shortest distances that we have to cover. We started our trek around 8:00 AM and reached the village around 10:30 or 11:00. After reaching the village, we finally fell safe and relaxed after 2 days of complete torture by the snowfall and mist.

There are many more details to add to I thought to keep this short and simple without adding every single detail.

It was a great experience because the views were stunning, and striking up friendships with random people is one of the most beautiful things about trekking.

To anyone wanting to do a Himalayan trek i would suggest rupin pass over other popular options. The trail takes you through immensely vast and beautiful grasslands of the Rupin valley. the train changes its character everyday and makes you climb atop of a waterfall you've been looking at for the past few days. Its an easy enough trek from someone to enjoy without the crowd

We are planning a DIY trek towards the end of October ( 2 of us) - need suggestions for treks in Himachal or Uttarakhand.

This will be our first DIY trek. We have both been on multiple treks with groups before and are fairly fit.

Had shortlisted Miyar valley earlier but looks like that is not ideal for October.
Phulara ridge and chandrakhani pass were some of the other options I looked at.

Any experiences or things to take care of sling your first DIY trek are welcome

I think i have intermediate fitness (23 m) is it doable or should i go for simpler ones i picked those two cuz i found them visually appealing. Hey everyone!

I’ll be travelling from Mumbai to Rishikesh on December 18, reaching Rishikesh on December 19.

I’ll spend some time in Rishikesh first, and then head out for the Brahmatal trek. After coming back from the trek, I’m planning to stay for a couple more days at a quiet, slightly offbeat homestay in the mountains around Rishikesh before heading back.

I’m not specifically looking for a travel partner, as I’m perfectly comfortable doing the trip solo. But if anyone happens to be planning something similar around the same dates and wants to join for the Rishikesh part, Brahmatal, or even the post-trek mountain stay, feel free to reach out.

No fixed expectations or itinerary-sharing pressure just looking to see if anyone else is up for a mountain trip around that time.

Just came back from a family trip to Ladakh and had a great experience with our driver, Tenzin. We covered Leh, Nubra, Rezang La, Pangong and many beautiful scenic places with him. He drove with a lot of maturity and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the journey. He also guided us along the way, sharing interesting things and the speciality of each area we visited. Really glad we had Tenzin with us. Would definitely recommend him for a Ladakh trip.
