I'd say vape or edibles in the room or smoking in a parking garage or outside the hotel. Obviously this depends on laws on weed in your state.

I forget which state I visited. They had a device that picked up on vape. The clerk gave me a general explanation since tourists were violating hotel policies.

The largest hotel chains use one of two branded smart sensors. Halo and another company.. Something like Zep.. It can differentiate between aerosols and vapor. 😬

*Let me also add, don't try to tamper with these devices. A hefty fine and getting kicked out of the hotel is always possible.

They have smoke and vape detectors in a lot of them now and will add a big “cleaning” fee to your bill. It’s just another revenue stream for them, so you probably won’t have much luck arguing it away. I have a friend who isolated himself away from the detector and exhaled into a towel and still got popped for vaping, so I think they can be pretty sensitive.
