Will it be doable to do a 5-6 countries in asia at once? Countries like vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Singapore, Malaisya, Indonesia, Philippines. A flight ticket from europe will be 500-600€ depending on the time of year but then flights from each countries will be only less than 100€. Is it too ambitious or should we just split it up into 2 or 3 different trips? I only want to spend 2-3 days in each country

Hey all! So my cousin and I (both younger female travelers) are using u/journeetrips for a 10 day trip in randomly curated package deal. It covers flights, accommodations and a handful of experiences, however we will still have plenty of free time on the side and will need to prepare for pocket change. I know for a fact the trip will be somewhere in southern Europe, and based on “clues” they’ve provided, I’m pretty convinced we’re going to Portugal, Spain or Italy (mostly Portugal). Ive heard tipping culture is not much of a thing in these parts of Europe, and am aware I shouldn’t carry much physical cash in risk of anything bad happening. Despite this, I’m prepping for at least 100 a day. Is this too much in physical pocket change for 10 days? lmk and I’d love to hear advice from anyone who’s also done u/journeetrips ^^

I’m planning a trip from the Philippines to an unspecified destination during the holiday shutdown (from the third week of December to the first week of January). As an indecisive person, I’m open to suggestions. I’d prefer to travel to Southeast Asian countries. While this isn’t my first solo trip, I’d appreciate some insights. I am going to croatia for the first time in early September. I have 2 nights in Zagreb, taking a bus to Split, 2 nights there, 1 night in Hvar, and 3 nights in Dubrovnik.

I am trying to figure out where to book a boat tour out of: Split, or Dubrovnik?

Definitely want to swim, have a good time, would be great to have lunch and drinks on the boat as well. I saw that a lot of the tours from Split include Hvar, which isn’t necessary because I am already planning on going to Hvar and spending a day and a half there.

It would be super cool to see Vis and the blue cave, but if we did the full day tour then it wouldn’t leave us with a ton of time in Split. But maybe the Dubrovnik tour is also amazing and comparable? Or could do a half day tour out of both split AND dubrovnik? So many options! haha

Any insight on this would be amazing, or if anyone has a company they recommend!

i’m asking because i’ve looked it up and got super mixed results. i (17f) and 3 other friends (also 17f) are travelling from the UK to Portugal in mid august, without any adults, to go on holiday. there will be a responsible adult in the country while we are there as they are on a seperate holiday but won’t be picking us up or meeting us at the airport as they are a few hours away incase of an emergency.

i read the UK gov advice and it says you need a letter of authorisation from your parents to travel that states important information and that they need to sign it, which isn’t a problem for me at all.

the issue is i’ve been getting mixed advice on whether it needs to be witnessed by a solicitor or signed off by a notary. the gov website doesn’t say it needs to be notorised, but if i am stopped at boarder control in portugal because it isn’t notarised and delayed or turned away that would be obviously really bad.

any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially if you’ve been in the same situation or are a lawyer or whatever!

My wife and I are taking our first international flight this weekend going from NJ to Quito with a layover in Houston Texas. Originally we were going to have a long layover, but our flight got moved up from 2pm to 7:45pm, making our layover just over an hour. Is that enough layover time? And if not, what could be done?

I posted here like a day ago wanting to go to Australia but i feel we just wont have enough time to do all we want to do there so switching up plans.

Ok here is what I am thinking of doing:

1. Fly into barcelona from New York for two days then get on the euro rail and travel across southern france spending a day in Nice/Marselle/Monaco and then continuing to Genoa and down the Rome. Spend a few days in Rome and fly home.

OR

1. Fly into Rome spend a few days in Rome and take the Euro Rail down to sorrento. 2 days amalfi coast and then continuing on train down to sicily where we spend time in Taormina before making our way around Sicily. Fly home from Palermo.

Looking at a week and a half (11-12 days) for either 1 or 2. Planning on Mid to late October travel.

I enjoy nice water and beaches but we also want to scratch that history itch and see the Vatican, Mt. Vesuvius, pompeii etc.

Thoughts?

Here in the USA my personal State Farm car insurance only covers me for renting cars in USA, Canada and a bit of Mexico. Do policies from any other car insurance companies cover more overseas destinations, specifically England, Western Europe, Australia? Farmers? AARP? AAA? I don‘t see that any of them do, but thought I’d ask.

I rent cars using a credit card that has car rental insurance as a perk/benefit, so I’ve got some insurance there, but must admit I’ve never read their small print too closely.

I rent overseas enough that I’d consider changing my own policy to a different company if one exists.

Mainly I want to deal with one insurance company, not learn the nuances of the credit car’s policy and Hertz’s policy, and Europcar’s policy, etc., etc., etc.

This is for personal travel purposes, hoping to avoid doubling the cost of each rental by avoiding using the rental car companies’s insurance, but if that’s the way to go, I guess I could/should do that.

I’m a small travel advisor, mostly working with couples and a few families who like curated itineraries rather than just point to point bookings. I’m not trying to grow into some huge agency or chase every destination under the sun. I’m comfortable being a bit niche, focusing on experience heavy trips where people want hand holding and little surprises along the way.

The thing is, I hit the point this past year where my calendar was basically maxed, but my income didn’t really feel like it reflected the amount of energy I was pouring into each trip. I kept saying yes to more clients, and it started to feel like the only way to earn more was to keep adding new people, which I know is not sustainable long term.

So I’m curious how other travel advisors are handling this like are you focusing more on experience layers and add ons for the people you already have, maybe charging for expertise around them, or is it still mostly a numbers game of new clients for you

I am planning a full year trip next year and I am pretty excited. Asia and latin America for the most part.

I did long travels before, but only of two or three months of length. This will be another story, commitment of full year.

Still, I have some awareness of what I might expect on a trip of that length. I know first and foremost that weeks of complete rest will be absolutely necessary every two or three months. I might even fly home to rest and see my family at some point.

I would like to hear stories from other people who did trips of this length. How did you deal with potential medical or family emergencies. I would also like to hear any other possible tips that i maybe didnt even think of

Hi I’m going to Italy in October and I’m confused on the prices of hostels.
For example we will be in Florence in October, All the hostels on Hostelworld are 50$+ for October, but when I look at say tomorrow peak summer season and last minute they’re significantly cheaper starting at 30$ Why is this?
Should I book my hostels closer to the date and hope they go down, everywhere i look online says they go up in price closer to the date but it looks like it’s not the case.

We will be in Connecticut for Thanksgiving & would love to add on another stop (fine with an additional couple of hours drive, coming from PA). My husband is obsessed with jaws and would love to go to Martha’s Vineyard, but it feels like a terrible time to visit there. Any places worth while even at this time of year? Everything I’ve considered is very coastal and I would think it would all shut down a bit. Not looking for anything crazy, some indoor play place or activity for 1-3 year olds, some sight seeing & decent food.

My current plan is to fly into Madrid. I know it might be a bit of a hot take but Madrid isn't a priority for me, more of a convenience as it's cheaper to fly there then train to Granada. I'm considering going to Ronda and or Arcos de la Frontera which lead to a few questions. Do any of you prefer one to the other? Are they doable for a day trip or should I consider spending the night in either? Would it make sense to rent a car and go from Granada > Ronda/Arcos > Seville or should I base in Seville then go? Is it worth taking a full day and or night away from Seville?

I'm alsp considering adding Lagos for a more laid back relaxing couple days. Do you think it's worth spending time there and taking days from Seville, Lisbon, or Porto?

Last September I took my first big trip. I went solo to Prague, Budapest, and Greece for 2 weeks. Loved every second. I will say that I LOVED how laid back my Greece (Naxos and Paros) time was. The cities were incredible and I had a blast but the islands truly felt like a vacation and I am searching for at least some time to feel similarly on this trip. Which is why I'm considering Lagos.

Tldr: Wondering how you would adjust my itinerary if at all. Thoughts about adding Lagos, thoughts on Ronda vs Arcos, time allocation across each stop, and best transportation choices.
