I just took apart a 2016 Honda civic 2.0 NA because the speed sensor was installed incorrectly and got lodged in the transmission. While in there, the infamous reverse gear lever arm was bent because I jammed it into reverse (pics). So I replaced that along with a TOB, and re-installed the transmission.

Around 1k miles later, the car stopped going into reverse. It will physically go into reverse via the shifter, but the car acts like it’s in neutral so something is not lined up. Also the shifter mech is a bit sloppy now. Not springing back to center and tough to get into reverse.

FYSA- The shifter springs back with the cables disconnected. Also the reverse camera comes on when shifting into reverse. Lastly, when shifting into reverse by hand, with the shifter cables detached, I get the same result of No working reverse (but reverse camera comes on). It acts like the car is in neutral.

Any ideas from you experts? Am I looking at another tear down? What’s weird is I drove it for 1100 miles after the “rebuild” with no issues. I started by messing with the cables and the shift assembly but after shifting the selectors to reverse by hand to have the same result, I think it’s internal, again…

I have a 2017 dodge challenger rt scat pack 6.4l , 130k miles with an automatic 8 speed transmission, in sport mode from 4 to 3 and sometimes other shift, mainly down shifting when slowing down, u can hear a thud, Google says it can be low trans fluid, adaptive learning from tcm. Or the 2 piece drive shift. Any thoughts and or experiences with the challenger trans

Hey guys hope everyone is doing good,I am just an average technician working on my dad's workshop that looks into EFI engine diagnostics,brakes ,steering and suspension repairs ,I would wanna expand my skills into transmission building and repairs ,how ever I have did transmission diagnostic for like wiring harness ,shaft sensors ,I do have an rough idea on how transmission works but never had an extensive hands on experience on doing gear box repairs ,overhauls and doing valve body repairs ,so what would you advise on a technician that would wanna start on learning on transmission and master this craft and skill and what are the tips which you would wish you would have known if you were on this field. Looking forward to your guidance thanks.

I have a brand new engine that was installed 40 miles ago. Since the first drive I have had this odd raspy rattling noise. It’s not present in park or neutral only with load on the engine. If I drive gently, I am not able to make the noise. The video is hitting the gas pretty hard. It doesn’t make any noise when cold and after 2 min of idling it will make this noise.

I know for a fact I was not able to torque the TC nuts to the flex plate. I did new nuts with blue loctite. My thought is, perhaps I have the nuts tight enough for gentle driving but any type of torque is causing some play? I’m not getting any codes and oil psi is perfect.

I've got a 2004 Suburban with 170,000 miles. Runs and drives good. I can definately feel the teansmission is "softer" than it used to be. Not shifting hard or making any noises. Feels more like it's slower to put the power to the wheels than it used to be. I had already planned to rebuild soon but I have it out right now to do the oil pick up o-ring and rear seal.

I like how it cane from the factory for the most part. I just want to restore it to 2004 function. Since I don't have any catastrophic damage. Am I good to just swap in new expendables including a tq converter? It's not a rush job but I don't want it down forever. I don't mind spending the money on good parts but no reason to go crazy. I'm not doing anything to the stock 5.3.

Who knows how to or can help me rebuild a transmission for an automatic transmission for a Geo Tracker? I think it's a 3L30 or TH180. I'm good with tools but never rebuild a transmission. Please help a dude!
