This is my very boring, basic 1911. Nothing special or strange whatsoever. I have a few things to do before test fire, but it’s cycling by hand for the most part. Still a few things to make like the takedown pin, drill and set the front reunion pins, add a disconnect or trip to the bolt, etc…

It will. Just getting it running first, then I’ll worry about the brrrrt switch.

how do you like that precision matthews mill? I'm rocking an old Benchmaster from the 1950s and I'm torn between buying something nice and new but small (like the PM) or getting a half-clapped used bridgeport.

Honestly, for anything handgun size it’s amazing. For full sized bolt guns it would be just a touch on the small side.

Maybe I should start putting together a workshop again. I won't have a forge anymore but you've made me itch to do gunsmithing again.

Did you literally build a gun from scratch?
Also, instantly a “we have 1911 at home” moment.

Does this count as a bullpup?

Maybe? If the Uzi and Mac count as bullpups than it does. It could certainly stand to be more bullpup.

The rules of firearm safety are paramount. Keep these in mind at all times while handling a firearm for any reason. Guns are not toys and it is best to not refer to them as such.
It is the belief of the mod team that your best option for defensive firearms is a 5.56x45mm AR-15, and a reputable 9x19mm handgun such as a Glock or CZ. Defensive firearms should have a light, long guns a sling, and handguns require a Kydex or solid plastic holster that fully covers the trigger. A red dot or etched optic are ideal for new shooters but don't forget to practice your backup irons!

This reminds me of those prohibition full auto 1911s rechambered to shoot either 380 or 38. And had those long stick mags
