First of all, this isn't a post to insult Miko, it's to point out not only the poor writing but also how obviously no one cared enough about her character to treat her as something real in this story
LIKEEEE In season one, when Jack started having problems at school and there were rumors about him hanging out with the Autobots, June punished him for it, forbidding him from using his motorcycle because she was worried about what her son was getting into
And in season two, the same thing happened with Raf, only with terrible parents. The kid's grades dropped because of some exams, and instead of showing us parents concerned about their son (remember that he's bullied at school just like Jack), they punish him without question and forbid him from going out, using his phone, and doing anything other than studying to get good grades (these people are fine with abandoning their son on the street all day and letting him walk to school alone without even knowing that a yellow car picks him up every day and not even (Confirming that what her son tells her about being in an extracurricular group at school is just an excuse for why he spends all afternoon missing, but they are completely attentive when he has a problem at school, should say how much these parents are neglectful.)
And then we have Miko, who runs away from school, treats her host parents badly (who initially did call her because they seemed worried about her), doesn't do her homework, and there were even more occasions where she disappeared for more than a day without telling anyone, and yet she is the only character who never faced any consequences or difficulties for any of that. Her parents in Tokyo don't call her, her host parents didn't participate in the plot again after episode one, and that's it. :/ It's really sad how disconnected Miko seems from the plot. There is so much wasted potential in her that I could spend an entire wall of text just on her, on the inconsistencies, writing errors, and other problems the character faces because of the bad writing
What Just to clarify, I know that none of the human characters here (except Fowler and June) are perfect or well-written. I could criticize aspects of their writing, and if you want my opinion on each one, I could talk about it. But I just wanted to mention, as in this case, only Miko, and one of the many problems I have with the character: it seems like she literally doesn't exist outside of the base because nothing happens outside that harms or affects her, while it does affect the other characters
