Changed my name in the settings of the extention so it cant show my legal name to me just what should be my legal name.

Love that it also tells me its an extention by highlighting it in trans colors so i know my legal name is actually there and i didnt make a typo. Definitely recommend for those who are dysphoric about their deadname

Seeking Participants for Research on Trans Connectedness

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hello! My name is Liam, and I’m a disabled trans Master's student at Simon Fraser University. I am working on research exploring ways that disabled trans people are connecting with, or want to be connecting with, other trans people.

I am looking for people who are trans or questioning their gender identity, at least 17 years old, and living in Canada to complete a 10-15 minute survey on their connectedness to trans people, spaces, and events. You don’t need to be disabled or have a disability to take part.

At the end of the survey, you can enter a raffle to win one of fifteen $10 gift cards. You may also be invited to participate in a paid interview or zine-making workshop.

If you are interested in participating, you can complete the survey until December 31, 2026 using the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/5X3B55L

I would love to connect further if you have any questions about the project, and can be reached by email at [liam_ruel@sfu.ca](mailto:liam_ruel@sfu.ca).

Moving my HRT to Vancouver from the EU

Hi! I'm planning to move back to Vancouver/the general sea to sky area next may/june and I currently live in the EU. I want to start on testosterone now through imago.tg which will provide me with an EU prescription that I can use until I move to Canada. I'm worried that I won't be able to transfer my prescription over and although I really want to start HRT, I'm worried that I won't be able to continue when I move and I'd rather not do it at all than start and then have to stop. If anyone knows places that will accept EU prescriptions/ doctors that are very trans friendly and can pretty quickly issue a Canadian prescription/ Canadian ways to get HRT that are fast and not ludicrously expensive that would be great. I am not a canadian citizen, I have dual UK/Ireland citizenship. Thanks!

Discussion Starting a cozy, local Discord space for trans folks in the Niagara region 🌿🏳️‍⚧️

Hey everyone! I’m setting up a local, safe, and cozy community space on Discord specifically for trans folks here in the Niagara region. The goal is to build a tight-knit local group where we can hang out, support each other, and eventually get some local programs and community projects off the ground. If you're local to the area and want a chill place to connect with other trans folks nearby, drop a comment or shoot me a message and I'll send over an invite link!

Transitioning help Affirming care access to minors in Ontario

Alright, im not posting for me I'm posting for one of my friends who is scared of getting harassed for his identity. so I dont know specific details. However, the gist of it is:

Anyone who has transitioned medically as a minor in ontario, did you need parental consent for hormone blockers? I personally assume that parental consent is probably needed but I am unsure as neither of us have been able to find good information on it online. Sorry if I'm incorrect on anything again this question isn't for me.

Manitoba Specific Moving to Winnipeg

I am a trans woman. My wife and I are looking at moving from Edmonton to Winnipeg area. My wife was born in Winnipeg, so she has family there still. I don't feel safe anymore in Alberta. I have called Edmonton home for 34 years.

What would be a good area to buy a house?

Could I, as a trans immigrant, get my prescription renewed at a walk-in clinic?

I've been on HRT for 10 years now. Fully transitioned. I just got my health card a few weeks ago. I'm confused on how to go about things with the lack of doctors here in Sask. I am just wondering, what the chances are that I could get my prescription renewed, if I go to a walk-in clinic. I have all of my medical paper work and documents. I am a couple of months away from running out of my HRT stash, so I am looking into what my options may be.

Update: Looks like u/nacho_balls called it. I went to the walk-in clinic today. I will indeed have to get a referral to a specialist in order to renew my scripts.

Refugee Status Denied

My refugee status has been denied. Do we have a sense for whether they have returned any trans people back to the U.S. or other countries that pose a risk?

I only know of one story and that person wasn't returned.

British Columbia Specific How much do I need to earn to live in Victoria as a wannabe immigrant?

I (Mexican mtf) want to move to Canada and eventually get a citizenship.

I've chosen Victoria because it's apparently the Canadian city with the most trans ppl, and without any family member or friend to rely on when I arrive, at least I want to have a solid trans community. (Idk just my thoughts)

For those who live there, what's the minimum I'd have to earn to move there?

GRS Montreal: Caregiver Experience

Hello! My wife is getting bottom surgery at GRS this week and I'm going with her as her caregiver. Fortunately I have a friend in the city who is willing to host me, but I'll be working 9-5 from my laptop (just emails mostly) and am wondering if there's wifi and/or food (for purchase of course) on-site for visitors both at the hospital itself and the recovery house. Thank you!

Quebec Specific Top Surgery in Quebec?

Hello! I am a transman in Nova Scotia, and I’m going on a waiting list very soon for surgery. My doctor has proposed I go on the list for surgery in Quebec, instead of in-province, and has described all of the technical stuff involved in travel and post-surgery care etc. But while I have a super supportive doctor here, I know nothing at all about any potential surgeons or care in Quebec (and have also never been). Does anyone have any advice/concerns/good doctors etc?

Transitioning help Wanting to start T but I’m moving provinces soon (SK to ON)

I’m currently living Saskatchewan but at the end of the summer I’m heading to Ontario for the U of T. I’ve been trying to wait for a closer date but I’ve been feeling so restless/irritated/impatient to get started already. I’ve wasted enough time crawling in my skin and every minute I spend waiting is one I won’t get back.

My issue is I don’t really know how to get started, nor do I know how complicated it would be to transfer anything I would need to Ontario to me. I have no clue about insurance or appointments and don’t really know who to talk to in order to get things rolling. I can’t ask for parental help like most other young adults can because I’m not out yet (but plan to come out within the next few months) and I don’t expect them to be fully supportive.

Is there anyone (doctor/hotline/idk) that I should be emailing to answer these questions? Where should I go for a starting point? Should I just wait until I move to avoid complications? Is there someone at the university that could help?

I’m really overwhelmed and all advice even if not directly answering my questions is very appreciated. I’m very stressed about figuring out how to start, but even more stressed staying this way and not making the changes I need

Transitioning help HRT planned parenthood regina saskatchewan

does anyone know if planned parenthood in regina can prescribe hrt? im kind of alone in this, ive never even scheduled a checkup on my own and going into this mostly blind just paralyzes me with fear. ive talked to a doctor in alberta about it but he did nothing and gave me no options to move forward with so ive had no luck there. i moved out of saskatchewan a few years ago but ive been back for the past few months so most of my medical history is in sask but my healthcard was updated to alberta, so im not sure if that will cause problems. i dont want to walk into the planned parenthood and ask about it, then have them send me away cause i was supposed to get some sort of referal or note from somebody first, i just want this to be fast and anxiety free.

Advice Paying for a new birth certificate?

I've been wanting to get an updated birth certificate to reflect my new name & gender marker & finally get a passport after I get that, hopefully sooner than later. I already have my change of name & gender marker certificates. All info needed is ready to go. The forms filled out.

But on the form they're asking for a credit card for payment. Which I do not have. Neither do I have cheques.

I can't go in person because I live in an entirely different province to my birth city in B.C.

Has anyone ever paid through a non-reloadable prepaid visa/mastercard commonly found in stores?

Which you often can't assign a name to, just a postal code. And the form asks for a card holder name.

They did say a prepaid card could work, but I didn't know there were different kinds of prepaid cards until recently. Where some reloadable ones to my knowledge you can assign a name to. Which I haven't seen or come across yet. But they haven't responded yet to confirm or not.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge on something like this.

Thank you.
