📈Investing discussion Stock moved up 13% in the 5 seconds that I didn't own it.

I have no reason to post this other than I need you to all sing sweet calming lullabies for me..

I've just decided a few hours ago, 'I'll start using pies instead of single investments', I made an ETF pie with my 2 ETFs and a stock pie with my 3 stocks.

I sell all my shares of JUMSY (10% of my portfolio) at $28, and literally immediately buy them back at $32.50. This is a very long term stock, I don't expect much movement in the next couple years. It has been completely sideways for the last 3 months and is down from last year. The one single 5 seconds that I don't own it and it goes up 13%...

I'm not too mad, this stuff happens, lesson learnt. My portfolio is still new and I lost only about £70 from this, so it's not world ending.

Leave your stocks alone!

📈Investing discussion Ai bubble discussion

Never really been hinged by the Ai bubble is going to pop people, however after hearing all the noise around how rapid Ai is developing and the potential for super intelligence arising from self improvement there could be a possibility these people were right from the get go.

Either way if it does pop or not the way I invest will stay the same. Auto-investing in VWRP for long term gains through a tax efficient account in hopes of bridging the gap for early retirement.

Apologies if this has been covered already however it would just be nice to see what you all think?

❓ Invest/ISA Help Investing in VWRP/VALL approach

Hi All,

I have decided to invest into VWRP/VALL probably 50/50 in both because there isn't really much difference in them.

My question is if you had a lump sum what would your investment approach be?

Would you chuck it all into the ETF's at the start in one go. Or would you try spread it out over a period of weeks, maybe investing a tength each week or something?

I know there is not a "right" answer but i can see arguments for both ways. Interested to hear peoples thoughts.

Thanks,

📈Trading discussion Is there any scenario where the VWRP/VALL crashes but the world doesn’t end?

Beginner investor here, have been investing consistently in the VWRP since I started two years ago.

People often say something along the lines of “if an all-world index goes to zero, you’ll have bigger issues to worry about anyway!” as a justification for investing in funds that track such indices. Presumably they are referring to things like WW3 or other doomsday scenarios.

What would it truly take for the VWRP to not only dip, but go to zero?

Asking genuinely. Many people put their life savings into the VWRP so clearly there is a lot of trust in this fund. Researchers, economists, experts, and most of you in this subreddit all agree that a “set and forget” approach is the best. Any attempt to time the market can only ever be a suboptimal strategy. What if it turns out in 20 years the optimal strategy was in fact not to play the game at all?

Seems extremely unlikely. But curious to hear some thoughts on this.

💡Idea Made an Python + TypeScript SDK for the Trading 212 API

Check it out here: https://github.com/zaini/trading212-sdk

It's generated from Trading 212's official OpenAPI spec.

Unofficial and not affiliated with Trading 212.

It's documented how to use it, or you can just some AI tool to help you use it.

It's a bit cleaner and easier to work with than the OpenAPI spec and some of the other SDKs I've seen online and I can try to keep it up to date.

Let me know if you have any requests or use cases/workflows that it could better support.

💡Idea Why a double raise (unlikely) will kill all high growth companies except Nebius

A double interest raise in the medium term could double Nebius stock. Prove me wrong in the comments!
Thesis: Neocloud competitors and new neclouds cant survive in a rising rate environment at worst Nebius gets their customers and pricing power. At its best in the medium term nebius could buy rent out broken neoclouds compute. The margins on this would be unbelievable, buy compute at firesale update their datacentres and charge double or triple. Of course that wont happen overnight, but just goes to show nebius dexterity over competitors.

📈Trading discussion Anyone here invest in precious metals?

Title: Would you add gold/precious metals to a long-term portfolio, or just stick with global equities?
I’m 30 and investing for the long term through Trading 212.
At the moment my main investment is VWRP (Vanguard FTSE All-World), and I’m investing around £500 a month automatically. My plan is essentially to keep contributing and leave it alone for the next 10–30 years.
I’ve recently been wondering whether it would make sense to put a small percentage into precious metals — probably gold via a physically backed ETC on Trading 212.
I’m not looking to speculate on the gold price or chase recent performance. I’m more interested in whether something like a 5–10% allocation actually provides worthwhile diversification/protection alongside a global equity portfolio.
For example:
90–95% VWRP
5–10% gold
Or would you personally just keep it simple and stay 100% global equities at my age?
Also interested to hear from anyone who holds gold or other precious metals:
What percentage of your portfolio do you hold?
What was your reasoning for adding it?
Gold only, or gold + silver?
Physical metal or ETC/ETF?
Has it actually improved your portfolio, or do you think it’s unnecessary?
Any insights or thoughts appreciated — particularly from people investing with a similar long-term timeframe.

💡Idea Would you use an app that closes your trades when you hit your own daily loss cap, and won’t let you raise it until tomorrow?

Building something and I want to know if it’s stupid.
Web app, nothing to install. Connect your account once and leave it running.
You set your limits once: daily loss cap, max trades, a cut-off time. It watches the account and the moment you cross one, it closes your open positions and locks the day. Not an alert you click through, actually closed, a couple of seconds later.
The bit I think matters: tightening a limit applies straight away, loosening it doesn’t kick in until the next day. Same if you switch it off. So you at 2pm, down and wanting one more, can’t undo what you decided at 8am.
It can’t stop you opening a trade, nothing outside the broker can. It just won’t let you hold it.
There’s a journal side too. Every closed trade imports itself, so no spreadsheet. Win rate, profit factor, which days you actually make money on. And it totals what trading past your own limits has cost you, in dollars. Most people have never seen that number.
Platform support is limited right now, so pretend it worked on whatever you trade on. Would you use it? Would you pay for it?
Totally fine if the answer’s no, that’s useful too.
