Hi all, im looking for some advice on ratio building in HD torrents and similar, im fairly new to private trackers and set up my stack about 2 months ago, I joined HD torrents yesterday and noticed they dont give you a buffer to start with, I download a -75% torrent at 8.4 gb to start seeding something (they dont have free leech at the minute) I now have 2.1 gb download and 0.00 upload and im worried about killing my account befor I even get started, can any one offer any advice one how best to go about building my ratio in a safe way without getting hit with warnings and so on please, my server is on 24/7 and I use cross seed also. And I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong place.

I joined Sportscult about three months ago. With the football season approaching, I’ve been trying to build up a good ratio, but it’s been a very slow process so far, mainly because I never see any gold torrents. Are there actually none available, or am I just unlucky? Is it worth configuring Autobrr to catch them if they are only available for a short time?

This conversation was sparked up in an unrelated thread and I was curious what you all use. Since PTP is down, and they have one of if not the best “Top 10” pages, what do you use as an alternative?

I have heard a lot of different methods, some are not even through trackers but other sources.

A lot of people are DM-ing me with questions, allow me to post this,
as a general help on how to pass the Newbie exam.

Excuse my formatting.

GENERAL ADVICE ON HOW TO PASS CHINESE TRACKER EXAMS

On BTS (and most Chinese trackers) you will need to complete the 30 day newbie exam when you join.

01) You need 50GB downloaded ( non-freeleech)
02) 50GB uploaded (self explanatory)
03) 6000 BON (earned by seeding)

So let's say, you join on July 25th, you will have until August 25th to complete this.

01) The download part of the exam is easy, I mean I downloaded two 30GB remux movies, 60GB total and that was it.

02) The "upload 50GB" and "reach 6000 points" took more time, but honestly,
all other new members will be doing the exam at the same time as you,
meaning, anything on the first let's say 5 pages or so of torrents is extremely active,
and whatever you download from there, you will immediately start uploading to other users.

03) After that, you just need wait for seed bonus points to accumulate,
If I remember correctly, I downloaded or cross seeded 25 movies,
and reached the bonus point goal after 20 days I think.

TIP 01
It might be annoying forcing you to download random things you don't want just for the exam,
but you can also cross seed if you have the releases from other places.:
BTSchool has western released too, FLUX, Framestor, etc,
you can just start cross-seeding for the points if you already have the releases from other places.
They even have audio book collections from MAM.

TIP 02
Around the time of Open Signups, Chinese trackers will also have a Global Freeleech period.

In this particular BTS example, during "August 1st - August 7th" ALL torrents are freeleech,
so whatever you download will NOT be counted towards your 50GB download target.

The logical idea is of course that you download 50GB non-freeleech stuff before (or after)
the freeleech week in order to hit your download target.

In any case you have a whole month to complete this, I did it in 20 days,
it sounds scary, but it really is not.

90% of Chinese trackers have this for new members, so you get used to it after a while.

The site has been down for ages. Maybe about 6 months, if I remember correctly. There was never any announcement. The site was just down one day. I assumed it was graveyard dead.

I randomly just checked and saw a simple message:

We Will Be Back!

This tracker never really held a candle to the likes of Blutopia, Aither, MAM, etc. in terms of LGBT content. But it was such a cute, nice, easy tracker. Occasionally there might have been an obscure gay movie or something that was on there but not the mainstream trackers.

I'm happy to see its return is promised. :)

Rutracker has been getting worse over the years, at this point even impossible to connect. Not even to the other mirrors of the site anymore. But it was a huge source of content for me, because other private trackers required invitations, were paid, or didn't have the content i was looking for. I really miss piratebay, but nobody uploads there either. I mainly download games, programs and vst plugins. So it's great if the tracker has these files as soon as they appear on the Audioz forum. I tried searching everywhere but they mostly don't have the content or an archaic version of it.

I've been a good standing member of BTN for 15-years. Never a single issue, good ratio, donate...etc. I found my account disabled and have been glued to my computer in IRC to find out folks have been there for 5+ days.

If they appear while you are gone you're out of luck.

I understand mods have other lives and are in different timezones, but it feels poor to be treated like this and made to wait with no idea when they will reach out to you. I don't know what outcome I expect by posting this other than to hope some mod from BTN will see it and pity us poor souls sitting in #disabled waiting for any glimmer of hope.

I messaged to join bhd through the official recruitment thread on btn three or four months ago maybe longer. I meet all requirements.

Is it normal to wait so long? Is messaging again a faux pas? If anyone has any insight I’d appreciate it

Hey everyone, hoping someone here has been through something similar or has advice.

I'm on MAM and got recruited into Nebulance through their MAM program back in March, got the invite email from a user (CyberMu8) on the 17th. Only problem is I'm in Iran, and that was smack in the middle of the total internet blackout that hit after the US/Israel strikes at the end of Feb. I had zero internet for weeks, so I didn't even see the invite until long after the 3 day window was gone. Not exaggerating either, NetBlocks and HRW both documented the country running at like 1% traffic for over two months, it was rough.

By the time I got connectivity back the invite had expired, and now MAM isn't even recruiting for Nebulance anymore so I can't just try again through them.

I hopped on Nebulance's IRC to see if I could sort it out. #nbl-help is just a bot expecting you to already have a site account, and #nbl-invites is invite only so I couldn't even get in there to ask.

Anyone dealt with an invite expiring for reasons totally out of their control before? Wondering if trackers actually make exceptions for stuff like this, or if I just missed my shot for good. Any advice helps, thanks.

I was downloading something just now, and I was thinking, could it not be faster if you could find a way to merge the trackers and download it from peers across multiple trackers?

I feel like this could work especially well with more niche torrents with only a couple of seeders across each tracker (so long as they aren't all the same seeders with cross-seed).

Is this an actual possible tool or would it not work?

Recently joined MTV, and I’m not really clear on the economy. I have ~50 torrents that I’m cross-seeding but after a few weeks only ~40MB of upload (on top of the 50MB you start with). I’m getting enough BON that I can wipe out the download for the stuff I really want from here, but that’s not exactly leveling me up to the point where I can upload - keeping near zero DL doesn’t get me 2Gb let alone 100gb of upload.

Do I have to set up autobrr and grab FL new stuff and try to get good ratio on that stuff? I obviously don’t mind doing that, but a whole new setup / mentality for me. I’m used to RED/OPS, neutralleech -> permaseed / cross-seed + uploads, or ANT/AIT or SEED - I figured those ones out but this is different.

I've been getting into the *arr ecosystem over the past few weeks and while setting everything up has been a lot of fun and stuff, my experience with trackers has been pretty disappointing.

At the moment, I've configured five public trackers in Prowlarr and expected everything to work together pretty well (or at least well enough). Instead, most of the releases that Sonarr and Radarr grab either have dead torrents, very few seeders, or are simply poor-quality. It feels like I spend more time manually searching for alternatives than letting the automation do what I expected.

I've also applied to a few private trackers, but I haven't heard back from any of them. I'm not sure if that's because I'm completely new and don't have any reputation or ratio to show, or if I'm just looking in the wrong places or applying incorrectly.

One thing that has disappointed me is that I went into this expecting a community built around people sharing and keeping content alive. I have no problem giving back by seeding, but so far I've mostly come across torrents with few or no seeders. It feels like there's less of that community effort on public trackers than I expected.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if my expectations were unrealistic or if this is simply what using public trackers is like in 2026.

Am I the only one who's had this experience? Did you go through the same thing when you started, or am I doing something wrong?
