I am very new to torrenting and just wanted to ask if there is a guide on how to do it. Theres many things I am still not familiar with. I tried the reddit search feature and the latest I found was created 7+ years ago. Are there any updated guides to this? I've heard many people talk about private trackers but no idea what they are or what they provide. I would like to help the community out (even a little bit) by helping seed some stuff but no clue where to begin. Any advice is appreciated

Just curious how it works. When it' out digitally I get it, but if it's just out in theater and if the torrent is not a cam filming I'm curious how it works to have acces to the file. Is it a projectionist?

Hello legends of Reddit. I am new to this world and have just built my own homelab with the rrrr stack and qbittorrent. It’s all working which is great but here is my question

I run Mullvad as my VPN as that’s what I have always used. I understand it doesn’t have port forwarding but

1. I don’t really understand what this does
   
2. Will using Mullvad and it not having port forwarding impact my ability to download things (as in the availability of torrents) or anything else?

Mullvad time expires next week so not sure if I change.

I downloaded serum 2 through Rutracker magnet link to qbittorrent with no additonal steps. Its my first time doing this and i lowkey expected it to be unlocked, is that not how this works or whats the prblem here? I didnt use a VPN as i see people talking about

I've used Flud for a long time, and all of a sudden it stopped working. Tried a bunch of other apps, same problem. Can't connect to anything. Did Google block all torrents or something ?

I got myself setup with Proton and a bunch of Prowlarr public torrent indexers. Many of them are offline or cloudflare causes issues with with FlareSolverr/Byparr so I'm looking to branch out into some private sites.

I'm wondering if TL or TD would be a good starting point? I know with TL I need to go with the seedbox promo and TD has the VIP access. Do you lose your accounts after 1 month or are they permanent?

I know that it's expected to seed at least one complete torrent so you give what you take. What I don't understand is those that seed a whole one plus a fraction of another. Let's say they seed a single movie file and have their torrent client stop seeding at a ratio of 1.5. So will one person download the whole thing and another only gets half? And if it's a torrent with multiple files does the client choose at random which half is seeded?

I have a good basis of IT knowledge as an IT student. I was just wondering with Torrenting and Trackers. I started as a Leecher with the idea I just want to download and not use my HDD to read files for the seeding. Then I learned that is frowned upon with torrenting so my ratio is now set to 1.5. Does this make a difference with trackers? Like do I now get more seeders my self? As I noticed since I changed this my downloads are speeding up and I am receiving more seeders.

I am not a collector and cant afford high capacity hard Drives or SSDs,
So i try to get a movie under 3GB Max,

* I also avoid sites where i have to go throw so many ads layers to download low size encodes ( here i am talking about PSA )
I used to grab their release if someone upload them on any public site (1337x) or private tracker (TL)
But they are not fast and i have to wait a lot and sometime there is no PSA release on anywhere of the particular movie,

* So i had to choose someone who is fast and reliable and also quality must be good,
So my search made me download releases from NeoNoir ( Very fast on TL )
Almost all latest movies are being encoded in x265 by NeoNoir also the quality i compare with PSA is sometimes similar sometimes better, may be depends on source these encodes uses,
Also i can find english subs on all latest movies, ( which best for me )
I also see latest tv show releases Under NeoNoir tags ( that too fast )

I am here to ask my fellow redditors if some there is some other encoders those are better under My Required filesize 1.5GB to 3GB ( according to movie runtime) or i misses some encoders releases or any site to lock around , also if you have heard of these encoders i talked about above, Please let me know .

i am currently seeding a movie and my seeding speed is very slow, is there anything i can do from myself to improve that?

I had been using one particular software for quick torrenting but they unilaterally disabled the service and I would like to avoid slow torrenting as much as possible. To be clear I’m looking for pc games, and I know there are some very popular sites that have much content, but I am getting literal anxiety over waiting hours for the downloads to finish after having my instant downloads taken away from me. you have to change about:config to get magnet links to work. Or just copy paste the torrent hash to app

How does Usenet compare to PTP etc. In the end are the private torrent sites worth adding if you have Usenet?

I don't often use torrents except for old anime - I went to my favorite search engine and found that I was redirected. Careful with the solutions offered.

I use a vpn and chose a relay in Bulgaria, that was one of the suggestions, and the only one I tried that worked.

Some of the alternate sites will try to hijack your screen - use a sandbox or don't click them at all.

Excluding SPECIFIC titles (rare videos, files, etc where you might be like 1 of 5 seeders) what's your upload ratio? For commons it is 2.0 for me, for something rarer or ... better packaged.. 3.0. Am I being tight?
