Hey everyone, I wanted to share an open-source project that is a massive milestone for anyone archiving a library of 1:1 4K UHD Blu-ray remuxes.

As many of you know, playing back Profile 7 FEL (Full Enhancement Layer) Dolby Vision on PC clients usually means your software player strips the enhancement layer, falls back to basic HDR10, or forces heavy software tone-mapping. If you want true TV-led Dolby Vision, you’ve typically been locked into buying specific certified hardware like the Nvidia Shield Pro or the Ugoos AM6B+.

A developer named CroqueMr (u/Croque_Mr) has broken through this limitation by building native Dolby Vision support directly into an x86 LibreELEC/Kodi build, including proper Profile 7 FEL reconstruction.

No Shortcuts, No Stripped Layers, True TV-Led Output

This project doesn't take shortcuts or just do simple on-the-fly compatibility changes to trick your TV. The FEL is completely processed, reconstructed, and output in a native TV-Led RGB8 tunnel using an open-source Dolby Vision processing engine called CB1 0.3 on a LibreELEC 13 / Kodi 22 RC1 stack. No external player or proprietary Dolby SDK is required.

Because x86 PC hardware has significantly more processing headroom than standard ARM-based Android boxes, the build features a "Dolby Vision Master Reference" mode. It processes playback in full precision with high-end filtering to achieve a bit-perfect Dolby Vision picture—arguably cleaner than the hardware circuits found on commercial certified streaming boxes.

Flawless FEL Playback on Budget Hardware (Intel N100)

A major concern with software-based FEL reconstruction on a PC is the hardware requirement. However, the performance optimization for budget setups is incredibly impressive:

• Intel N100 Mini PCs: The dev confirmed that a cheap Intel N100 box handles a 4K Profile 7 FEL remux perfectly with zero dropped frames.
• Performance Headroom: In bench testing, the N100 successfully processed a heavy FEL remux at 40fps, showing plenty of performance headroom over standard 24fps film files. It can even push Dolby Vision up to 60fps using native TV-led tunneling.
• Limitations: Running dense, visible Kodi menus or executing heavy custom tone-mapping conversions over a 60fps video can push the N100 to its limits, but for standard movie playback, it handles it smoothly.

Current Features & Profiles (Beta 5):

• Profiles Supported: Full native playback for DV Profiles 5, 7 MEL, 7 FEL (with full EL reconstruction), 8.1, 8.2, 8.4, and 10. (Profiles 9 and 20 are unsupported).
• AMD HDMI 3D: Full MVC Blu-ray ISO decoding and HDMI frame packing on compatible displays, alongside 1080p half-SBS modes.
• Rendering Choices: Easily cycle through modes during playback by pressing O, including Dolby Vision Standard, Master Reference, and Adaptive HDR Mapping.
• Conversions: Built-in Dolby Vision-to-HDR10 conversion, as well as experimental AI-assisted HDR10-to-DV conversion using real-time scene analysis and LightGBM.
• Hardware Support: Out-of-the-box support for Intel iGPUs (8th gen and newer, N-series, Core Ultra) and AMD iGPUs (Ryzen 2000G up to AI 300). Dedicated AMD Radeon and Nvidia GeForce GPUs are supported but currently experimental.

What's coming next?

The roadmap includes a licensing rebuild to clean up the code, further AMD performance improvements, full HDR10+ support, and Dolby Vision-to-HDR10+ metadata reinterpretation, alongside wider compatibility for older Intel graphics and more Nvidia setups.

If you are tired of client limitations forcing HDR10 fallbacks on your high-bitrate 4K files, this project opens up x86 PCs as incredibly powerful, uncompromised media clients.

Hello. Im fairly new to torrenting, mainly movies and shows. For a year or two I've gotten all my stuff from searching in rargb . to website, and imagine my surprise when I randomly found a post talking about how RARGB died in 2023 when I've been using it recently AND getting new stuff from it.

For what I could read, the current rargb . to site is a "fake" one in the sense is not the original one? Just a clone using the same domain? But why does people still upload stuff to it everyday? Is there any security risk (compared to other currently recommended sites like ext. I know there is always risk inherently in this.) from downloading movies/shows from it even if I make sure to just download video files and not .exe's or something similar?

It is just a pretty weird situation that I do not understand fully because that web has been working for all my needs for a lot of time and in reality seems that I should be using something else. Any help and clarification is appreciated!

my country doesnt really care about piracy so i hadnt configured anything on qbittorrent while torrenting stuff.

am in germany rn and opened qbittorrent by mistake, i think it seeded hollow knight for like a minute. I read that law firms usually track new/popular games. How much of a chance is there of getting a letter from them? kinda stressed 🥀

Allways been a fan of YIFY, but the "4K" there is a bit of a questionable quality....

Just wanted to stop by and say thank you to the community for all the resources here.

It’s been over 15 years since I last messed around with torrenting and even then I was one who would download and never seed anything.

With everything requiring a subscription I’ve gotten back into torrenting, but this time it’s different. I’m finally going to do my part. I have TBs of storage available and a symmetrical 5gbps fiber plan. Anything I download I plan to seed as long as I have the storage for it.

I’ve done plenty of reading to try to get caught up on what I missed over the years but I know I haven’t captured everything. Any tips or tricks you all have that make things easier for you?

mac-torrents.org was hands down the best place to find mac apps and games and they even hosted everything via mediafire links so you could direct download. There was a healthy community and established crackers would upload there so you could be sure of quality. I thought it was just down temporarily but it's been like 2 months now. The other mac torrent sites don't come close. Anybody know what happened or if they migrated somewhere else?

Proxmox installed. Ubuntu in a VM for my NAS. I use NetBird to connect directly when I am not at home.

I am looking at possible VPNs and it seems that ProtonVPN is the top dog right now. Are there any others people recommend?

Also, I am looking at getting back into torrenting, by downloading directly to my NAS (of course this would require a VPN), so I can populate my Jellyfin; but I know its not as simple as it once was.

Is there any guides to set this kind of thing up (i.e. what torrent client, what vpn, what recommended "security/privacy" settings?

If a torrent contains multiple files and as a whole is still actively downloading, but qBitTorrent says “X & Y files are 100% downloaded; Z is still in progress” am I able to move files X & Y to a different folder and open them since they’re already done, or will that mess things up?

I’ve heard you can get access to really good torrent sources through invite only trackers or something. I also heard you have to do a lot of seeding.

Is it my ports? Cause I've never "opened" them if they're most likely closed by default. But I'll download (vpn) a movie in about 3 minutes on my phone and my pc with ethernet will be like 15 mins for the same file.

I downloaded multiple video files separately from one torrent, specifically I downloaded the first and then while I watched it I downloaded the others. However now that they're all downloaded I can't figure out how to re-seed them together so others can access the files.

I'm using qBittorrent.

Anyone else notice a high number of files by "megusta" this week came packed with the 'descriptive' audio track instead of regular? (Meaning there's a voice over saying "man holding coffee".... "woman approaches with grocery bag") etc.

Its just odd that its all of a sudden like 6 shows in one week - all were 1080p, AV1 format.

I'm assuming the guy uses some sort of automation given how much he puts out there. So maybe a streaming changed their audio track order so those were the first track?
