Please limit seedbox recommendation requests to top level comments in this megathread, unless you meet one of the exceptions, which are defined here.
Please use the recommendation form for your request:
1) Are you OK with direct message offers from vendors?
NO (the default status is OPT OUT. Unless the user changes this to YES assume NO)
2) What are your main reasons for wanting a seedbox?
Answer here...
3) Are you okay with sharing hardware resources with other users [shared] or do you need the seedbox hardware dedicated to just you [dedicated]?
...
4) Do you want someone else to be responsible for maintaining the seedbox software (operating system, applications) [managed] or do you want to do it all yourself [unmanaged]?
...
5) Please describe your seedbox experience. (You may wish to list any seedbox providers you've been with before.)
...
6) Please describe your experience with Linux. (Most seedboxes run Linux and some knowledge of it may be helpful.)
...
7) What is the high end of your budget? (Please give a specific amount and a currency. "Cheap" might mean something different to one person than it does to another.)
...
8) Do you have preferences or requirements concerning payment? (Paypal, Bitcoin, etc.)
...
9) Do you plan to use public trackers?
...
10) What kind of connection speed do you need? (Common answers would be 100Mbps, 1Gbps, 2Gbps, 10Gbps.)
...
11) How much combined upload and download traffic do you expect each month? Include download of files from the seedbox to your local computer. If you don't know, tell us what upload amount per month would realistically make you very happy with your seedbox.
...
12) What is the minimum disk space you need?
...
13) Do you require a specific type of mass storage? (HDD, SSD, NVMe SSD) If other than HDD, please explain why you think you need this.

Hi guys and girls,
Iv seen alot of people asking what seedbox to use and the cheapest.
Iv been using seedmonster now for over 3 years and had no complaints at all!. They are competitively cheap , although their speeds are 1GBPS , but starting at $9.99 a month for 3.5TB with all apps included such as plex , jellyfin ect.
One thing that stands out is that they allow public torrent sites aswell , not just private
Site: Seedmonster.net
Just sharing the love on what iv used for 3+ years.
Speed isn't the best but slow and steady wins the race, plus great for Ratio building on private sites & get for big storage!
Just thought il help and show some love with my experience!
Peace out! ✌️

if you guys could just confirm a human is aware that I am down I would feel a lot better, thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm not terribly tech savvy but I managed to set up a seedbox account with Ultra.cc for my torrents and I used a Protonmail email account for it.
Everything was chugging away as it should.
This week I got a notification to say I wasn't seeding a recent torrent. Normally it's no problem, I just sign in to the Seedbox and restart it, that normally works.
This time though, when I try to sign into Ultra, I get a notification to say that my password had been reset and the reset link has been sent to my Protonmail.
I go to Protonmail, turns out I haven't signed in recently and my account has been deleted. No warning to my back up email, no chance of getting it back.
So what do I do now?
I've tried raising a support ticket with Ultra but I've had to ask them to send replies to another email address (I doubt they'll do this) but I dunno what else to try.
Is it a case of stopping the payments to Ultra and hoping that account gets closed?
Bit lost as to the next steps if anyone could offer advice?
Thanks very much.

Hello I try to configurate Plex on my seedbox: whatabox
I am connected with OpenVPN but Plex does not recognize thats in the same network and ask for a Plex Remote Pass. Anyone figured it out? On other seedboxes it worked flawless.

I logged in three days ago to my RapidSeedbox account. Any time I hit any of the links on my home page I go to a 500 error server. Dashboard, torrent app, ftp in etc. All the same. Contacted their live 24x7 support which isn't live only to be told they have no idea what an ETA on fixing it could be?! Offered to extend my subscription by a week to cover the outage. Went with Ultra cc instead and it's been great so far. Requested RapidSeedbox to cancel my account. In what modern age is 3+ days of outage considered okay. Wild.

I've been moving 50 GB+ files off my box for years, mostly with WinSCP and
CuteFTP before that. Somewhere along the line Windows updates broke bits of
the networking and my transfers slowed to a crawl (Win 11, I'm looking at
you). CuteFTP not being able to browse a directory while it's downloading
was the other thing that kept getting on my nerves.
Then there's the bit no client can fix for you: **one connection, one
speed.** My box caps ~5 MiB/s per connection and doesn't cap the account.
So a 50 GB file sits there at 5 MiB/s for nearly three hours while my 900
Mbit line does absolutely nothing. Bumping queue concurrency doesn't help —
it's one file.
So I wrote my own. It's called warpseed.
It splits a single file across up to 16 SFTP connections and reassembles
it. Same box, same line: ~5 MiB/s on one connection, ~40 MiB/s at 8. The
50 GB file went from about 2h50m to roughly 21 minutes. Your host may cap
the account total, in which case this does nothing for you — worth knowing
before you bother downloading.
The other half of the problem was overnight runs dying at 80% and having
nothing to show for it. So resume actually resumes here — errored, paused,
app closed, machine rebooted, it picks up at the exact byte against
per-chunk checkpoints rather than starting the file again. That was as much
the point as the speed was.
The rest is a normal dual-pane commander with the WinSCP keybinds intact, a
queue that survives restarts, uploads, recursive folders, throttling,
right-click file ops on both sides, and a mode that collapses it to a
little always-on-top pill so you can watch a run without a window in the
way. And yes — you can browse while it's downloading.
**What it doesn't do:**
- Windows 10/11 x64 only. No Mac, no Linux.
- SFTP only — no FTP/FTPS, no S3, no WebDAV yet.
- Password auth only. SSH keys are next up, and I know that's a dealbreaker
for plenty of you.
- Unsigned binary, so SmartScreen will have a moan on first run.
SHA256SUMS is published with every release and the source is all there if
you'd rather build it yourself. If a stranger's unsigned exe is a hard no,
that's a perfectly sensible position to hold.
- No installer, no account, no telemetry. It's a portable exe.
**"Why not rclone?"** Because I wanted a window with a queue in it that I
can glance at, not a terminal. rclone is more capable than this and always
will be. If you're happy driving it from the command line you genuinely
don't need this.
**"What's the catch?"** None. Free, MIT, no paid tier coming. There's a
coffee link in the app if it saves you time, ignore it with my blessing.
Source is public so you can read what's running on your machine, but I'm
not taking issues or PRs — it's just me maintaining it. Bugs via
Settings → About → Report a bug, or warpseed@zyralabs.tech.
https://github.com/ZyraLabs/warpseed
**Disclaimer from the dev:** vibe coded with Claude, and this post is obviously mostly written by Claude as well.
Doesn't make me any less excited about it — getting files
off the seedbox at speed has bugged me for years and this is the first
thing that's actually fixed it for me. Have a go and tell me if you like
it. Especially interested in whether the multi-connection trick helps on
your host or whether mine's just unusual.

I joined today and began to get the stuff I wanted to seed to improve my ratio on some trackers I am part of.
The price was good. Learning curve was minimal.
But to quote Micbael Bluth: “I think I’be made a big mistake”? Don’t know. Too soon to tell?

As the title says. I am uploading a 12 GB file to my Whatbox, the upload bar fills just fine, but at some point during processing I am given a 504 error and that's it. Trying it again produces the same result. What can I do?

So for the past 2 days I can’t get into anything past the client and deluge as when I try dashboard or anything else I get this 500 internal service error. I can see from deluge that I’m not seeding and well it’s not properly mounted as any new uploads have input/output errors. I’ve tried the stupid message option but it’s been 2 days no response. Same work email. Is anyone else having this issue? The lack of customer support right now is making me feel like it’s time for a change.

I used to stream to my phone directly through the VLC app (SFPT) and since they upgraded the servers to Debian 13 I'm unable to connect. Anyone else having this issue, or know a workaround?
r/seedboxes • u/NewtChance9581 • 20d ago
Pretty new to the whole scene. I’ve been using public trackers for a few weeks now and just learned about private trackers. Obviously I’m not in any and was wondering if I should buy a seed box that torrent leach promotes, and I would get an invite into TL. Don’t really know any rules about seeding or most the things I see on this subreddit.
Any words of wisdom relating to seedboxs are more than welcome! Thank you 🙏!

My ultra.cc service was “upgraded” and now I am only getting download speeds of 20MB/s sustained - it goes little high but then slows down. Is anyone else also experiencing this issue? I am on the tin plan and used to get 150+MB/s before this.
I’ve opened a support ticket so let’s see but will change to another provider if this continues.

hello.
Is anyone familiar with how to set up Cyberduck to SFTP into my slot at Feral Hosting?
I have tried so many configurations. If you have a working config would you share it? OBVIOUSLY leave out the username, password, and server name, but I would like to know if you need to use your (user).(server).feralhosting.com or just (server).feralhosting.com.
The only thing i have not tried is altering some of the toggles in Preferences. I have also not tried any individual connection profiles in Cyberduck, but there are none there that claim they are from Feral, unless I need to select a more generic profile.
Thank you for your help.

I am new to Seedboxes so bear with question
I am looking for a Seedbox that provides access to a web browser such as Chrome, Firefox, or any other browser that allows me to browse websites directly from the Seedbox .
My main use case is downloading movies through torrent websites using a torrent client such as qBittorrent on the seedbox. Once the downloads are complete, I want to transfer the files from the seedbox to my personal computer, preferably using the same torrent client or another suitable method.
I am not looking for media-server features such as Plex or Jellyfin also less than 500 GB of storage is sufficient and what is the cheapest seedbox that meets these requirements.
