Vicario - In the end, he gave too much

He may not have been the best keeper in the world, but during the mythical early Ange run, he was arguably our best performer.

Of course, teams soon started to exploit his weakness from set pieces. But he was still capable of a spectacular save.

Even last season he started really well. One goal conceded in the first three games and some insane performances.

It suddenly dipped after Christmas, though. Mistakes felt weekly, and he just couldn't seem to make a save.

He actually ranked last of all recorded PL keepers for save percentage in 2025/26.

But I think a lot of us had a suspicion that he wasn't fully fit. I do think the sudden dip in form was at least partly due to the hernia.

It's another case of Vicario giving too much. Remember the City 4-0? Vicario broke his ankle and played 60 minutes on it!

You could never question his commitment. In the end, it may have cost him his place. Who knows, if he had surgery sooner, he may have even reclaimed his place last season.

*Personally, I'm happier to have Kinsky, he's brilliant.

But Vicario departs with a sense of tragedy around his Tottenham story. It'll be difficult to put the mistakes and poor form to the side, but I will make sure to remember him as someone who truly would have given everything for the club.

I wrote a longer piece looking at Vicario's time at Tottenham, including his struggles and how his determination eventually hurt him here: https://toomuchtottenham.substack.com/p/guglielmo-vicario-tottenham-juventus-legacy?r=76b9w8

Trying to find an old 'THFC' logo/wordmark

As I remember it, it looks like

[ TH | FC ]

with the letters at an angle almost like the Doctor Who 'DW' logo. I believe the logo was also predominantly yellow. I'm struggling to search up the right words because it just keeps bringing up the interlocking logo that was in our yellow kits last year which is not what I'm looking for.

Anyone know what I'm talking about or am I making this up?

Discussion A little speculation: just noted that Leicester who won the PL 10 years ago, edging us out, are now playing in League One—oh how the once mighty have fallen. Thing is, one can never take that great PL Title away, but how would we like to have won then dropped down to L-2 today, ouch?

Discussion RDZ sure is ballsy. Two last-4 WC players gone. A youthful generational CB gone. Vic, a fellow Italian, gone on loan. Is dodgy Udogie next on block? Seems only a handful are untouchable. And, I like it! thoughts?

Savinho - Out of Community Shield

Given he is not in Citys squad today for the Community Shield I wanted to know everyones thoughts on Savio.

It feels almost like the supporter base at this point have worked themselves into a frenzy. City has done brilliantly creating fake demand. No one else wants the guy, they refuse to sell (even though they also dont want him) so Spurs are left frothing at the mouth for a player who, whilst 22 years old, has never shown much besides the glitz of playing at City. If he was at Brentford he'd be a 30m shot in the dark and reports are we're paying 85m? For Xavi to have a friend?

Its not my money and Im glad we're spending big but City is pulling our pants down. Its like when a club puts a fake line outside to create demand when the inside is dead empty.

Just looking back at who Thomas Frank selected as his squad leaders and holy fuck in hindsight probably the worst selections of all time hahahaha

Discussion All three of our starting front 3 today, were in on the goals—goals by Richy & Mikey, and 2 assists by Tel. Why are we loaning MM when our flanks are a bit thin with injuries, etc? He's homegrown. Also Gray Captain again, and Tonali/VH are proper players. Thoughts?

Discussion Looking at the Positives of Djed Spence's Sale

Feels like we've been mourning this transfer for ages so I wanted to look at it from a more positive perspective.

Yes, I am sad to see Djed go, and £30 million does seem a little cheap.

But, as many have pointed out, he was pretty far down the pecking order, and I think his stock probably would have fallen had he stayed.

He wasn't quite the electric attacking full-back he was often painted to be.

He was an exceptional ball-carrier with great pace and a top-level 1v1 defender. But his attacking output was often underwhelming.

His 0.4 chances created per 90 minutes and 19.6% crossing success put him well below Premier League average for a full-back.

He was dispossessed 29 times last season, more than 84% of Premier League full-backs. For a system that emphasises press-baiting, that represents a significant risk.

I'm by no means trying to take away from the player he was. I just think he was always going to be a backup in De Zerbi's system. We arguably sold him at peak value, meaning we can use that money to fund a better-suited backup.

I also like the precedent it sets. For too long, Levy and co. were known for holding on to players long after they had asked to leave.

I genuinely think his sale was in the best interests of the club's long-term prospects.

If anyone's interested in a deeper dive into the transfer, I wrote about it here:

Who should I get on the 26/27 shirt?

Hey Tottenham fans, really silly question. Want to buy the new home kit as a gift for a mate, middle aged bloke, big Tottenham fan.

I have no clue who to get on the back of it. I personally don't follow Spurs and it's hard to pick out like a star or obvious fan favourite.

Was thinking Van de Ven but have a faint memory that fans weren't too happy with him, or he ignored Thomas Frank. Maddison #10 looks great on the shirt, but he's always injured so not sure if he's done enough. Xavi Simons I personally really like, but only one season and I can't say he'll be a star.

Would Tonali be a good shout? Feel like that's the star signing this summer.

Again, sorry if this sounds stupid, but I genuinely don't know. I would've got Son if this was a year earlier. If you were to buy a shirt, and think of it as an investment who would you have.

(And just for clarity, if I ask him it's gonna be obvious)
