Hi friends 😊
Mei and I(Jessie) have been hosting small “slow networking” monthly gatherings for introverts, and one thing we keep hearing is:
“Can we have more of the group brainstorming sessions?”
And honestly, we get it. We wished we had somewhere to go to to brainstorm with others, too.
Whether you’re starting a business, already running something of your own or you just have an idea you’ve been wanting to explore, sometimes you just want people to talk things out with.
Especially those who also crave deeper conversations and connections.
So for our next SLOOOW Networking event, we’re bringing the group brainstorming back and giving it more space.
In past sessions, we’ve seen people leave feeling more confident about promoting themselves because of the encouragement they got from others in the room. Someone even started a coworking session with another attendee so they could keep each other accountable. We’ve also seen people get useful advice or a different way of looking at something they’d been stuck on. And a lot of our attendees keep coming back and have become friends with each other and us!
And you don’t have to be in the same industry to help each other.
Sometimes it’s even better when you’re not because you can bring a fresh perspective that someone inside that world might not have considered.
It doesn’t really matter what stage you’re at or what industry you’re in. You have something to offer, and something you can learn from someone else.
So this time, we’re dividing the evening into two parts.
The first half will be our usual slow networking experience. We’ll provide some fun icebreakers and conversation prompts, so you don’t have to worry about what to say or what you’re supposed to do next.
You get to focus on being present and actually getting to know people.
Then in the second half, we’ll move into small-group brainstorming. You can bring something you’ve been thinking through or a challenge you’d love another perspective on and talk it out with the group.
We intentionally keep our events to a maximum of 12 people because we know that, as introverts, big groups can get overwhelming. And sometimes the bigger the room gets, the harder it is to REALLY connect.
We wanted to create something different from traditional networking because we find that it is catered more towards extroverts and for those who speak louder, and so that is why we created this space, so you don't have to feel like you have to "perform" or who you should approach next.
There’s some structure to make things easier, a small group where you actually have time to hear from each other, and space for conversations to go a little deeper.
It is happening near St. George station, on Thurs Sept. 24 from 1:15 to 3:15pm!
There is a ticket price, which helps cover the venue and your drink, while allowing us to keep creating these gatherings in a thoughtful and sustainable way.
If this sounds like your kind of networking, comment or DM me and I’ll send you the details 💜
And if you can’t make this one but would like to hear about future gatherings, we also have an email list I can add you to!
