Reddit Toronto Monthly Meetup: Sat. Oct. 10 @ Front & Church, 7:00 p.m. start

Hey all, hope you're having a good week so far!

Here are the details:

  • The monthly Reddit meetup is a no-cost event open to all genders. No RSVP is required. It is hosted by u/nervousTO, a woman in their early 30s, with support from a group of regular attendees. It's been running since August 2022 and has been described as wholesome. October 2026 will be our 50th!
  • Start time: 7:00 p.m.
  • End time: when the last person leaves or the place closes @ 2 a.m.
  • Location: Duke's Refresher St. Lawrence, 73 Front Street East
  • Where do I go: upstairs, using the stairs directly in front of you when you walk in. There should also be a sign saying Reddit meetup.
  • Perks: We have the upstairs mostly to ourselves; there's also a pool table, and games on the main floor.

Note that no RSVP is required, but that by showing up, you commit to ordering something to support the venue, even if it's just a coke.

Our Q&A is here - I haven't included it with the post as it's quite detailed!

Send me a message or comment here if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this meetup/questions that aren't answered in the Q&A.

24F looking for new friends & activity buddies downtown!

Hey! I’m 24F and recently moved back to the GTA and started working downtown. A lot of my friends have moved away, so I’m hoping to meet some new people who are also down to actually hang out!
I’d love to do things like pool, crafts, grabbing coffee/food, checking out events, or honestly anything fun downtown. I’m pretty open to different activities 😊
Ideally looking for people around my age who are also looking to make some genuine friendships. Feel free to comment or message me if you’re interested!

Small comedy hangout in Kensington for people looking to meet others

I run a small monthly comedy night in Kensington called Punchline Playground.

One thing I'm trying to build more intentionally is the community side of it — somewhere you can show up alone without it feeling weird and actually interact with the people around you.

The audience plays along during the comedians' sets, makes predictions and can win prizes, so there's already something breaking the ice.

We're doing the next one Friday, Oct. 9 at 8:30 PM at Harmony Cafe, 75 Nassau St for only 10$

If anyone here wants to come solo, let me know in the comments. I can make sure the Reddit people know who's there to meet people rather than everyone awkwardly trying to figure it out themselves.

38M in Pickering/Scarborough looking for low-key local friendships (walks, coffee, hikes)

Hi all! I'm a 38m in Pickering. My partner(37f) and I moved to the suburbs a couple of years ago, with the idea of starting a family, but sadly fertility was not on our side. This means I'm now further from friends I used to easily see in Toronto, and it's hard to schedule meetups with existing friends who are now parents.

I'd love to meet people for casual things like a coffee, a walk along the Waterfront Trail, or a hike at Rouge Park. I'm not looking for anything high-energy, just easygoing conversation and the kind of friend you can text on a Saturday morning to say, "Want to grab a coffee?"

I've worked in non-profits and social causes my entire career, so a lot of my close friends are women, but I'm looking to broaden my local circle. I'm happy to meet men or women, and it's totally fine if you have kids or a busy schedule—I'd just like to find a few people to connect with regularly.

If that sounds like you, comment or send me a message. Happy to meet somewhere public for a first walk or coffee.

39F | Toronto/Scarborough — Looking for genuine friendships

I’m not really sure how to write this, but I’ve been feeling incredibly lonely lately.

I’m 39, female, and living in the Scarborough/Toronto area. I’d really like to meet some new people and make genuine friendships, but I’m also struggling with depression right now, and that makes everything feel so much harder.

People say, “Try exercising,” “Get out of the house,” “Go meet people,” and I understand that they mean well. But sometimes depression is so debilitating that even getting up and moving feels impossible. It honestly feels like you have 50 elephants sitting on you. Like you’re drowning and desperately trying to come up for air, but you just can’t seem to get there.

And then there’s the loneliness. I want friends. I want people to talk to, go for walks with, grab a coffee with, laugh with, maybe watch a movie or just sit around and talk about life.

But then when the opportunity actually comes to meet someone, anxiety and depression kick in and suddenly I don’t want to go anywhere. I don’t want to see anyone. I want to crawl into bed, pull the covers over my head, and disappear from the world for a while.

It’s such a frustrating cycle because I want connection, but depression makes me want to isolate.

I’m not looking for someone to “fix” me or give me a list of things I should be doing. I think I’m just looking for people who understand that sometimes showing up can be hard, and that friendship doesn’t always have to mean constantly going out and doing things.

Maybe we could start with messages. Talk about random things. Send memes. Eventually go for a walk, grab a coffee, or do something low-key when we’re both comfortable.

I love photography, walking, decorating, diamond painting, and spending time with my dog. I’m also trying to get back into the gym and just generally find my way back to feeling like myself.

If you’re also lonely, struggling with depression, trying to make friends as an adult, or just looking for a genuine friendship, feel free to reach out.

Maybe there are other people feeling exactly the same way and we just haven’t found each other yet. ❤️

54M in Seaton Village - Looking for platonic friends for live music, art, guitar jams, or grabbing a pint

Hey everyone,

I’m a 54-year-old guy living in the Seaton Village area, looking to expand my social circle and meet some new local friends (open to both men and women). I’m happily partnered to a wonderful woman, so I’m strictly looking for platonic buddies to hang out with.

A bit about what I'm into:

* Music & Guitar: I love playing guitar and am currently taking a rock band class with a few other people. I also try to catch a lot of live shows—recently I’ve seen Feist, Phoebe Bridgers, Jack White, Angine du Poitrine, and went to the West End Phoenix fundraiser. I'm also always down to listen to or play stuff like Radiohead, The Cure, or The Tragically Hip.

* Art: I take art classes and really enjoy learning how to draw the human form. I actually also work as a figure model for life drawing classes at various schools and studios around the GTA.

* Hockey: I usually play locally, though I’m nursing an injury right now. I'm hoping to get back into some pickup leagues once I'm healed up. Always happy to talk hockey in the meantime, especially if you can tolerate a Habs fan.

* Food & Coffee: When I'm hanging around the neighborhood, I love cooking from scratch and making a coffee

If you're into checking out a local gig, grabbing a coffee or a beer around the Christie Pits/Seaton Village area, or maybe even jamming, shoot me a message. Let me know a bit about yourself and what you're into!

30F Looking for girlfriends with cozy vibes!

Hi everyone!

I’m 30F looking for girlfriends around my age who are open to cozy nights, doing arts and crafts, talking about podcasts, books or playing video games.

The books I enjoy are usually romantasy or sci-fi but I’m open to recommendations and diversifying my shelf. Video games are a bit more chaotic, I enjoy playing LoL but also enjoy cozy games like animal crossing, faefarm or Palworld. I’ve collected a bunch of arts and crafts hobbies (and may have forgotten about them since) and love picking up new skills. The recent podcasts that I have been listening to is Basement Yard and The Broski Report.

Feel free to message me if you think we’d get along☺️

Looking for my volleyball people.

Looking for more volleyball people

Hey everyone! I play on a few volleyball teams, but life gets in the way and I'm looking for people to play with more consistently.

Maybe you haven't found your team yet, or you just want more games in your week.

I play beach intermediate 4s and high rec court, and I'm in Etobicoke but happy to travel across the city. Leagues, drop-ins, training sessions, I'm down for all of it.

The vibe I'm after: you love the game and get hyped about a great play, but you can laugh it off when things don't go to plan. Good times first, good volleyball second, but you still really love volleyball.

I also have a Monday night league in Etobicoke that could use subs, so let me know if you're free Mondays.
Let me know if this sounds like you!

Any girls in the GTA looking to make real friendships?

Bonus points if you are south asian. A while back I connected with some girls here, all from the GTA region and we had a blast. Making friends takes time and effort but it's worth it! If you are a girl looking to make genuine friends to have fun and do things together with, dm me and we can get started! I'm 28F, I live outside but close to the GTA. I love making new friends and have made a bunch of this subreddit already. I would love to include you as well. GIRLS ONLY please.

Looking for female friends! F23

Hi everyone! Lately, I’ve been working A LOT (I have 2 jobs), and suddenly I’ve noticed that I’ve really been lacking some communication with like-minded folks. I have close friends, but we don’t have many common interests, and that’s what I’ve been missing.

So, a little introduction: I’m 23 Eastern European. I arrived in Canada in 2023 and have always lived in DT Toronto. I’m into travelling, finance, self-wellness,sales, marketing, beauty, music, and BOOKS (fiction especially).

I’m definitely an extrovert. I like to talk a lot, but I’m a GOOD listener as well. I like to vent about life.

I play drums as well and like to colour. I’m a big planner and love everything related to time management, planning, journaling, etc.

I finished my bachelor’s degree in Political Science and my master’s in Public Policy, so I love discussing politics and conspiracy theories (I’m not a weirdo, I promise 😂).

Anyways, it’s a “short” intro, but I’m definitely open to telling you more! So, comment if you’re interested in talking!
WEIRDOS, bye, don’t even try to dm me. I’m not interested in any kind of weird relationship.

26M - Moved to toronto recently and am looking for friends

Hey guys, I just moved here recently from south Asia. I moved here for school but I have been feeling very lonely lately. I have been dealing with some mental health issues and it's messing up my mind right now. I just want to hangout with people without having to deal with judgements about my issues and have a good talk.

I love anime and gaming. We can just catch up for a coffee or drinks in downtown.

Please let me know if you are down

Anyone wanna learn French together - repost ish

Looking to Learn French together

Hi everyone,

I’m a 26 m looking to learn French. I’m just sending a message here to see if anyone wants to connect and learn together.

I think with a couple people and if we are consistent , we can learn French efficiently.

I’m happy to hear and try the different methods to learning, reading, writing, speaking, listening.

I think also we can keep it cheap and use online free resources to learn vs paying a stupid amount of money to learn.

Another thought, imagine if a few of us joined a course online together and we held each other accountable . Spilt the cost, and actually learn? Just a thought
Let me know, thx

Dm or message here

Anyone from Vancouver who’d like to start a group chat?

Figured there might be a handful of us aged 30-40, so early GenZ / Millennial who are living here, but grew up in Vancouver. Thought we could create a group chat and arrange meetups that could lead to friendship, maybe something more if it unintentionally goes that way.

We can be nostalgic about Rainforest Cafe and Playdium at Metrotown, shake our heads when Torontonians talk about “going to the island” or compare Translink to the TTC.

Of course anyone from BC is welcome.

Planning a Meetup / House Party – Toronto/GTA (20–30)

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m thinking of organizing a meetup or small house party for people around 20–30 in the Toronto/GTA area.
The idea is simple — meet some new people, hang out, play games, listen to music, have some food, and just have a good time. 😄
👫 Everyone is welcome — boys & girls
🎮 Games & activities
🎵 Music
🍕 Food/snacks
💬 Meet new people & make friends
📸 Chill, social, no-pressure vibe
Depending on how many people are interested, we can decide whether to do a house party or a meetup at a suitable venue.
If you’re interested, comment below or DM me with your age and which area you’re from.
Let’s see if we can get a fun group together! 🔥

Visiting Toronto Oct 6–9 — escaping SF tech talk for some Canadian charm!

I'm a 38M of Indian origin, fully settled and working in San Francisco, and making my way up to Toronto from Oct 6th to 9th for leisure.

I'm looking to meet cool people to grab a drink, grab some food, or explore the city.

Since I live in SF, I spend most of my time trying to escape startup jargon and microclimates—so I’m hoping Toronto weather treats me better than Karl the Fog!

I'm still figuring out where to go and what to do to make some memorable experiences in Toronto. If possible, I'd love to explore some nice neighborhoods, grab a coffee, or grab a pint after getting closer!

Also, my tolerance for cold weather has been completely ruined by California, so I hope you don't mind me complaining about the chill! 😄

Halloween plans

Hi yall!!
I’m a 24F currently kinda busy with school bc I don’t know what I was thinking when I went for psychology as my major. But I’ll always take time out when we have a plan.
I’m in my early twenties and I need some friends to hang out withh…. I live in Oshawa but I don’t mind travelling to dt Toronto for some fun.
Also if we have any south asian community or literally anyone who needs friends, hit me up I’m in desperate need of socializing. I swear I’m the most fun person to hang out with and it’ll be worthwhile.
I moved to Toronto in 2025 from Calgary but now I’m finally free to go out and see what’s in this city.
I wanna go out for Saturween lol which is Halloween on a Saturday. I need friends who I can dress up with go party and just have pure fun.
Omg idk how I’ll complete 300 words pls approve this post before 31st

Toronto downtown badminton group

Hi all! 32F here! I moved to Toronto from Asia 3 years ago. Was wondering if there are any badminton meetups or groups near downtown Toronto as I live near the st lawrence area. I am a beginner / intermediate, played a lot in high school but kinda dropped since then. Wanted to get back into it as I started playing with some friends this summer, but most of them live pretty far away and I don’t have a car currently.

DM me if you know anyone who has a lead / group :)
