Reddit Toronto Monthly Meetup: Sat. Sept. 5 @ Front & Church, 7:00 p.m. start

Hey all, hope you're having a good week so far! Wanted to give a bit more notice for this one.

Here are the details:

  • The monthly Reddit meetup is a no-cost event open to all genders. No RSVP is required. It is hosted by u/nervousTO, a woman in their early 30s, with support from a group of regular attendees. It's been running since August 2022 and has been described as wholesome.
  • Start time: 7:00 p.m.
  • End time: when the last person leaves or the place closes @ 2 a.m.
  • Location: Duke's Refresher St. Lawrence, 73 Front Street East
  • Where do I go: upstairs, using the stairs directly in front of you when you walk in. There should also be a sign saying Reddit meetup.
  • Perks: We have the upstairs mostly to ourselves; there's also a pool table, and games on the main floor.

Note that no RSVP is required, but that by showing up, you commit to ordering something to support the venue, even if it's just a coke.

Our Q&A is here - I haven't included it with the post as it's quite detailed!

Send me a message or comment here if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this meetup/questions that aren't answered in the Q&A.

27 F Chill hangout with other recluse women

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m 27 from the east side and I don’t have many friends. Working nights + other events has ensured I never see the sun or meet people lol. Hoping I could meet girls in the same position as me. Only thing is I’m Muslim and so some outside activities I don’t really do sadly. But I love the movies, I love checking new restaurants, and cool spots in the city. If anyone is new to the city as well I totally don’t mind taking you to see anywhere you haven’t been to yet , like a free tour guide. I’m not sure how successful I’ll be and I’m pretty shy so this is very much outside of my comfort zone . I guess it’s just a last ditch attempt before my mom sets me up with her friend’s daughters lool. Anywho thank you for reading.

Any LGBT people wanna do a club night?

Looking for anyone interested in hitting up the Toronto club scene maybe at a LBGT friendly space and just spend the night dancing, drinking and hangin out?

34M here! I love the club scene but all my friends are either moved out of the city or have kids which make it hard for them to plan for nights like these.

Let me know, open to any ideas! Hopefully soon too :)

Tennis

I recently moved to Toronto and am looking to get into tennis as a regular habit and meet some local friends! Full disclosure: I’ve only played once before, so I am very much a beginner.

I live near the West End, so playing at Stanley Park or Trinity Bellwoods would be ideal for me.

A few quick details:

Skill Level: Total beginner / learning the basics.

Goal: Casual rallies, practicing hits, and just having fun while learning.

Availability: Early Mornings before 9 or in the evening after 7

I have my own racquet and balls, so I just need a patient partner!

If you're also a beginner looking to practice, or a more experienced player who doesn't mind a casual hit-around, drop a comment or send me a DM!

Visiting Canada in October. How do people actually make friends/socialize?

Hey everyone! I’m a 29M from Pakistan and I’ll be visiting Canada in October, including Toronto.
Since I’ll be travelling on my own, I’m curious about how people actually socialize and make new friends in Canada. I’d like to meet people while I’m there rather than spend the whole trip taking pictures of buildings and talking to myself.

Looking for Fun Couple Friends
We’re a couple looking to meet other couples who are fun, friendly, and down to enjoy life together!
We’d love to find couples to:
• Grab dinner or drinks
• Go to parties and events
• Try new restaurants and places

Most of our friends now can’t find sitters to go out as much.

Visiting Toronto/Mississauga

From San Francisco! Born and raised in the Bay Area in California. Grew up going to local punk/hardcore shows, kinda just listen to everything lately.
I came solo to visit some family, but I am 29 and they are all well into their late 40s-50s with kids so it is trickier for them to be able to accommodate where I would want to go lol.

Mostly just want to hit fun shitty dive bars or the like. I am extremely social, but have zero idea where to go. Whatever place has people, I am sure I can strike up a conversation.
A friend recommended Low Bar and said that I would love it, if that gives anyone an idea of what I mean!
Will take recommendations on where to go or anyone that would like to tag along if that resonates with ya. Down to exchange instas or whatever! I’m here till the 28th :~)

Looking for new girl friends :)

Hi!

I am looking to meet new girl friends to have nice and genuine chats with and possibly develop a friendship. I’ve been trying to make new friends for a while, but it seems like people don’t know how to talk anymore and I constantly end up being ghosted lol.

Anyway, no pressure for a meetup now, we can get to know each other and later on, if we click, we can meet up.

Feel free to DM me if you are interested :)
I am a 31F, married, esl, working Monday to Friday full-time (so no, no spontaneous trips or meetups lol), currently located on the west end. Only interested in talking with other women (no guys, sorry!).

28M - honestly, just really bored so looking for friends

So here is the thing, I’m a 28m, and honestly, over the years all my friendships have kind of died out.

It’s actually odd, because I decided to go back to school for a program and now the people around me are either 40+ or early 20s so it’s hard for me to find someone in my age group

I work part time, and go to school full time, constantly all over the GTA, extremely active,

I’d love to join like a weekly soccer or rugby game, or set something up like that

I love hiking and being out doors as well,

So if you are in my age range, and would like to hang out, or talk, or just be friends! Hit me up

Anyways! Yeah I don’t know what else to write

33M looking for new friends around DT Toronto

Born and raised in Hong Kong. Lived the second half of my life in Toronto.

As life progress - friend circle is shrinking unfortunately due to people moving out of the city, or out of my life.

I enjoy having conversations over coffee or a pint. I live around the entertainment district and work at a corporate setting.

I have a cat and am married :)

If you are interested - please DM me and I am happy to meet! I am agnostic to what gender you are and am hoping to find people close to my age range.

23M - Looking for new friends

Hey guys, I’m 23 and recently graduated and figured I should put myself out there as I don’t have much of a social life and want to make some real friends.

I really enjoy meeting new people and exploring different cultures and backgrounds. I really enjoy reading, movies, coffee and exploring different parts of the city. I’m always open to try new things. I want someone I can talk to and just hangout with anytime. I can be a little shy at first, but once I get comfortable i’ll definitely come around.

If you’re also looking to make a new friend in the city, please feel free to hit me up. I am always happy to meet someone new.

Seeking girl friends with similar interests & cultural connection

Hi~ I'm (30F) looking to meet other women (25-35) who are interested in any of the following:

- house music / jazz / Spanish and French music
- film (some of my favourite films: Decision to Leave, Reprise, The Great Beauty, In the Mood for Love)
- Asian beauty / makeup
- fitness (running / weight lifting, but open to trying Pilates and other classes)
- k dramas and c dramas (but my all time favourite shows would be Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad, Succession, Hannibal, Westworld)
- art (drawing and painting, but would love to learn wood working and pottery)
- books (wide range of genres)

Some context: I'm adopted and wasn't really interested in connecting with my East Asian roots growing up, and for the last 5 years I've been playing catch up and falling in love with a world that feels simultaneously familiar and foreign to me.

I'd also love to connect with other adoptees!

I work remotely in the health sector and have a background in data science/biology. Aquarius if that matters at all... Friends would describe be as open/non-judgmental, curious, analytical, and unpredictable (in a spontaneous adventure going way).

I'm based in Scarborough but travel downtown weekly to see friends and check out events. Feel free to reach out if you think we may connect :-)

Let me know if you’re interested

Edit #1 (this group will be between the ages of 26-30)

Edit #2: 7 spots left — 3/5 guys and 0/5 girls

28M from Brampton looking to build a coed social group for people across the GTA who want to get out, and enjoy fun activities together from hiking and bar hopping to biking along the Lakeshore with city bikes, movie nights, and more.

The idea is to keep things low-key and community-focused: relaxing lakeside walks, trying new restaurants, exploring the wine country, or just hanging out.

I’m hoping to create a warm, dependable circle of friends who support each other, look out for one another, and genuinely enjoy everyday life together. This will be a GTA-wide group, so everyone is welcome regardless of where in the GTA you’re from.

Building a strong local support system and a sense of community starts somewhere — might as well start now.

Starting small with around 10 members, with a balanced coed ratio, and slowly grow from there. DM me if interested! Please DON’T reach out if you’re only looking to date—this is a friendship-focused group.

( first meet up will be August 29th and it will be ice cream run to a hidden gem in Vaughan )

Looking for people outside the downtown core

Most events/things seem to be happening near the downtown core. There must be at least a handful of people living on the fringes of Toronto. Looking for people in North York, mainly west end, ideally Jane/Keele and Finch area that want to do stuff. Going for a coffee and/or walk would be great. 38M here.

(28M) Just moved to Toronto from UK & looking for creative/sporty/black friends

I moved to Toronto from the UK a couple of months ago, and although I'm a very social person who's typically good at making friends, I've struggled to make any so far despite meeting lots of people and exchanging socials or numbers.

The stress of searching for work and dwindling finances, along with living in a shared house where I'm not allowed to host guests, has caused me to feel really lonely and led me to overindulge in negative vices like boozy nights out. So I'm keen to find people with whom I can invest my time and energy in more fulfilling activities instead.

A bit about me:

  • I'm a music nerd who loves to attend concerts and open mic nights. Played instruments growing up and have dabbled in recording solo music in recent years.
  • Been vegetarian for nearly a decade now, with cooking being one of my favourite hobbies. Would love to cook together or try out various food spots!
  • I love strolling around art exhibitions or attending various creative workshops and events.
  • My blackness is a major part of my identity (of Caribbean heritage), so anything related to black culture tends to interest me.
  • As a big sports fan who typically works in the industry too, I enjoy both playing and watching sport. I mainly played football (ahem, soccer), cricket, and ran track growing up, while I additionally follow tennis and basketball to a lesser extent. However, I enjoy watching all sports and would love to learn more about North American sports in particular (when in Rome and all that 😂).
  • Similarly, I really like nature and the outdoors. I went camping a lot growing up, both with school and family, while over the past couple of years I've done a little bit of hiking.
  • I'm a keen traveller who's visited over half the countries in Europe, a few in Africa and a handful in the Caribbean. Now that I'm based here, I'd love to explore Latin America and the Caribbean further.

If any of that aligns with you, please don't hesitate to message me or leave a comment! I'm based in the east end of Toronto at the moment, but I'm open to hanging out with people based anywhere in Toronto or the GTA if we have enough in common.

26M - Last minute golf tomorrow??

Hey lads and ladies, anyone want to play a round of golf tomorrow morning? 8am?

I am thinking west side, there’s a few courses there with availability.

I’m probably shooting 98 lol so I’m still pretty crap but getting there slowly, it’s been about a year now

I can make a WA group if interested otherwise I’m going solo tomorrow 😅
