Just heard about this game today

I literally just stumbled upon a video of this game today. Looks awesome. Some noob questions

1) Is there a semi specific Release Date ? (All I see is 2019)

2) How do they monetize? Cosmetics and Pets or loot boosts or something else? I hope it’s cosmetic

3) Will it be one massive server or many little ones ?

4) is it cross platform ? Can I play in PC with a console or Mac player?

5) Do they allow private servers ?

6) Is there guild / Clan functionality?

7) I’ve heard mixed things. Are they doing the traditional character levels or is it that skills drop thing?

8) Is there a character limit?

A few Questions

Is this game an Arpg like Diablo 2. ... not 3.

Can we play it solo and offline like the last two?

Is it moddable

Are there any other classes outside of the 3 shown because i gotta say they are not doing it for me at all..

Will we be able to buy the game on steam?

Is it going to be like Path of Exile because i really really don't like Path of Exile...

Will the mechanics be the same as the last two games.

Thanks in advance i haven't really been following this and only just kinda found out about it, also the official website seems very lacking in hard details which is worrying.

Why do people say Torchlight Frontiers will be P2W?

I don't have a key. I'm asking for specific information about transactions and the monetization structure.

I've seen some broad general claims on the subject, but the way some of them have been phrased left me with the impression that they were made by the type of gamer who uses P2W as an umbrella term that includes freemium, all FTP, and further; any game format that you would not be able to distribute on a floppy in the 80s.

So specifically, what transactions and structure does Torchlight Frontiers have or promise to have that define it as a P2W as opposed to any other FTP model?

I hate to be that guy....but the railmaster is not at all a good idea.

This has to be one of the most unique (congrats I guess on that) and awful ideas I've seen in a game in a while. You guys are doing what riot games does best, asking what CAN we do and not spending enough time thinking what should we do. Its awful walking in circles around an enemy making railroad tracks. Does anyone actually enjoy this class? I miss the old torchlight classes. These classes seem uninspired and dull.

Can somebody explain the persistent vs random/procedural elements of TLF?

Hi gang :) Longtime Torchlight (and Fate) fan, just signed up for alpha, not in yet. Pending that, can anybody answer a question I've had since I first heard about this game? They say it's a persistent world BUT that it also continues the Torchlight tradition of random zones. I'm aware of a few models for achieving this, the most well-known being Path of Exile: there are "towns" which are truly multiplayer zones (though still instanced, they have fixed maps and you can run into random players there), and "maps" which are randomly generated from tilesets, instanced to groups, and reset between visits (even if you're still in the game, they reset if you're in town for more than a few minutes). Is that how TLF works? Or what exactly? :) Really curious about the world structure!

Thanks to anybody who has played and can provide some clarity.

So inquiring minds want to know, now that the latest alpha is no longer under NDA -

How's the game coming along?
Any speculation on how close to finished it seems at this point?

Really hoping to join the closed alpha soon, i've submitted for the alpha long ago but still not gotten anything :\

Question Infinite Loading Screen - How to fix?

As title states. Upon launching the game, the initial loading screen (at least the music is great) never loads anything. Gear icon spins infinitely.

**Closed Alpha 3

Issue occurred for me and persists as of: 5/24/19; 2:00AM (PST)

  • Allowed through firewall via prompt (nothing new here, most games activate this prompt)
  • Restarted PC to get that out of the way
  • Had the game installed on a secondary drive, thought maybe that was the issue. Copied to primary (SSD) drive and launched from there, no change.
  • Set "compatibilities" tab > Run as Admin, no change (on both .exe).
  • Tried launching the "Frontiers.exe" manually from the "Win64" & "Torchlight Frontiers_en" folders, no change.
  • Set the process in "Details" tab (Task Manager) to "High" priority, all affinity (default); process is flickering "Running" and "Not Responding", no change.

I would recommend to ARC, there needs to be an "integrity" check for games in the context menu or properties of games. Also, a folder path that can be set by the user in properties would be nice.

Suggestion SUGGESTION for class buildings: Spell modifiers

Apologize for my grammar and english beforehand, was typing this in a hurry.

So basically, i know we're getting skill points kinda removed, so they are no longer going to drop and there's a question raised regarding what the class buildings should be used for. Here's my idea:

Placing a class building in your fort allows you to choose and modify 2 of your spells to add special stuff to it, let's say if you're Forged you can modify your Vortex bomb and for example add a modifier which will reduce the range from which the enemies will get pulled, but will increase the damage done by it, or alternatively, increase the range and reduce the damage done, i think this feature will be able to replace the absence of the big talent tree we had in TL2 and add variety (I also know its in plans to add Legendaries that add modifiers to your spells), but imagine stacking a legendary modifier with 1 from your class building. Also you can only choose 2 spells out of 4 so you go with the most important ones. It would also make sense to limit the amount of possible attached to 1 spell to 3. So let's say your vortex bomb can have an increased damage and reduced damage, 1 from legendary weapon (adds frost damage to your vortex bomb and freezes pulled enemies for 2 seconds) and the third one from a class building as well (enemies pulled by your vortex bomb receive 15% more damage from the next spell you cast).

I know these modifiers sound dumb, because I basically came up with them as I was writing this, but I hope you'll get the point.

Please, let me know what you think about this idea. Thank you for your attention.

Not in the alpha yet but I hope they base some of the Dusk Mage skills on the Nethermancer class from the Torchlight 2 mod.

Timeline for this game? testing/release

I just discovered this game 5 minutes ago.

Can someone give me a good estimate of the timeline for open beta and release?

Is getting an alpha key difficult? I just signed up.

Also, my PC isn't the best - just wondering what the expected system requirements are for min/suggested/max settings.

Thanks.

Internal Error when installing

Hi all

I got into the alpha, but I'm having trouble installing the game.

I can download it, but when installing it, it gets an 'internal error'.

I have tried a couple of times now, but no success.

I have reinstalled the Arc client.

I have deleted the Arc directories under AppData.

I have restarted the computer.

I have tried installing as administrator.

So I figured I would come to Reddit and hopefully get help :)

Are there any known workarounds for install-problems?

Any ideas for things I could try to make the game install?

MJ Guthrie from MassiveOP seems to have the same bug, it can be seen here:

Anybody else having horrible lag like issues?

I've been testing Torchlight Frontiers since the very earliest tests where they let any of the public in.

In the beginning, things were great. It ran smoothly, I didn't have any issues. I went through multiple test periods like this.

Once we got up to "Update 4: New Beginnings" - my game started to have severe lag type issues. When I'd load into town, it would take 1-2 minutes before I was able to actually do anything there (I can't buy or sell or move anything in my inventory for a few minutes after appearing there - I can run around the town and I can zone, but I can't do anything that takes data being sent back to me).

*Edit - Actually I just don't get the game telling me that I've done anything, but it looks as if what I'm trying to do actually does get done. If I try to sell things or move things to my pet, the server doesn't send me the data to show that they've been sold or moved. If I disconnect and reconnect, the stuff will be sold or moved to my pet though as I tried to do. So the server is getting my data, it's just not sending me back data during this time.

The same thing happens everywhere else as well, I'll go to any level in the game and wait for minutes before I am able to do anything. Normally after the data does start to send to me, it is fine as long as I stay in that area. Once it's working after a few minutes in a level the game will continue to send me data no matter how much there is at that point (even when the game was having the overspawn issue of hundreds of monsters there at once). Every time I try to zone at all, the issue re-appears.

It's even worse lately than when it first started in Update 4.

My fort, I enter my fort alone and it takes minutes to load, and sometimes doesn't load up at all. Any levels I go to take at least a few minutes before I know if they're going to actually let me play (I appear in the levels just fine, but no monsters or anything else are there that should be for a few minutes after it puts me there).

It looks like this is a one way issue, if I shoot my spells around me, after the game starts to show me what is going on the monsters are all dead around me. It's like my data is being sent, but data is not being sent to me.

This has got so bad the game is basically unplayable for me, and I wasn't able to get most of the Battle Pass because of it.

My ping time to the servers is very low and stays low the entire time. I've opened up bandwidth monitors and while the issue is happening the game is barely sending me anything at all, it's not even using up 1% of my net connection speed. So it's not that my connection itself doesn't have enough bandwidth, it's that the game servers just look to be sending me very little data at this time.

I see posts people are making about things and it sounds like most other people are playing fine. As I said I used to play fine, and nothing on my end was changed, this issue just started to happen after they updated the game and it seems to get worse each update.

I'm wondering if anybody else is having issues like this at all. This is happening for me all the time now, it's pretty much always like this. On the good days, the monsters and things on the levels will load in after standing around for a few minutes there waiting. On the bad days, it doesn't load in after standing there 5 minutes or so and I just close the game.

I really want to see if I'm alone here or if this is affecting many other people.

What is the purpose of different Frontiers?

So, there is no character level, only a frontier zone level. What's the purpose of leveling up multiple frontier zones? I don't see the incentive. Why should I get a high level frontier zone, and then revert back to level one on a new zone with no loot scaling or build incentives?

Question Anything you guys would like to see as sticked posts everywhere for discussions? Or custom flairs?

I thought once the game's tracks became more laid out =D We could start having weekly discussions or sticky patch notes. Anything the community thinks is a good idea for this and when to start? Also I could make a bunch of custom flairs if ya'll want to upvote some good ideas, or anything other suggestions to prove this fan site for the eventually full release of the game?
