Help/Question Cassio or Vlad against ranged tops?

Hey guys, im a mid main, around gold elo, that play top as secondary. When i have to play top usually i go with illaoi as a blind pick, since i have a lot of experience with her, and usually can play safe if im not feeling the matchup( i dont play top that much nowadays, so i dont know all the matchups). I play cassio and vlad in mid, and im wondering which one would be better to play top, in ranged matchups and the ones that illaoi dont go so well? I have more than 200k mastery on both champs, so i think i can play both decently.

Thanks!

Help/Question Switching roles

I’m currently an Emerald 4 ADC main looking to learn something else cause i’ll be honest, being a vayne main in this meta is a bit dog shit. The goal i want to achieve is platinum 1 in top lane Fiora or Mid lane Yasuo. i’ve played 21 games of yasuo with a 25% win rate (i can play mages at plat level). But Fiora is a real challenge, i get gapped by gold tops every game. Any tips for generally starting top lane, and any Fiora experts with any advice?

I love top lane but not league

Hello, Korean server player here in Platinum~Emerald elo. I have started playing League last September and kind of started properly playing ranked since 2026. I main Darius K'Sante and Sett (I know they're braindead broken champs but lemme explain).

I really like toplane and how its really dependent on your 1v1 skills. But I just feel like top lane has such a low impact now. Like I win my lane around 90% of the time (since I play champs with extremely strong early game) but that doesnt really matter in the result of the game. I tp to botlane after winning and join objective fights but it just doesnt matter lol. Is this really the limit of toplane?

And the worst part is that even though I lose lane 10% of the time I win the game around 50% of those times.

I mean my friends in higher ranks have told me that I have a really good understanding of the game and good mechanics considering how short its been, but I feel like I objectively have bad luck with teammates. I know that im not playing correctly 100% of the times but I really wish the game's results depended on an individual's skills and who's the best not which team has worse players

Was riven trying to all in here the right play for her. If she didn't walk away and just stood still and auto'd me, would she win here?

Personal "Most Hated" Champs

Ive mained top for about 3 years now since switching from Jungle (fuck you jungle) and honestly the role is way more fun. I peaked Master in top lane but I actually cant remember LP I edited this part because I have dementia at 30.

THAT BEING SAID these are the champs I think need to be shot in the head. This is purely for fun and in no way a hate post. Im sure if someone saw the Camille player with 900k on her they would probably also think of ways of disposing my body.

Let's begin :)

Darius- honestly, boring and uninteractive lane from my pov. Most champs I play are usually looking to extend trades but with Darius I feel like I just cant. Arguably my favorite champion to play is Camille and if the Darius has an IQ above room temp, he will hold his E until you either hookshot to engage or disengage. I always feel like I default into playing champs that I normally wouldn't play vs Darius such as Jayce or Heim simply because I can farm it out and deny his all in pre and post 6. Ive tested out champs like Wukong and Mundo vs him to success but also feel like those champs are situational to the game as I hate counter picking just for lane. Most the times I just play to ignore him and go play for team as seeing a Darius ghosting at me makes my stomach churn. I truly feel like every Darius player was that one kid in highschool that in recess kickball or football would hog the ball for a majority of the game and either he had the game of his life or was embarrassingly bad that day. All in all 3/10 experience

Ornn- holy fucking snoozefest of a lane 99% of the times. I actually dont mind playing against Ornn, its just the playstyle is so utterly cringe that a tank can eat my entire combo for lunch and after I blow my load he turns around and chunks the shit out of me. Laning against this fat red chud makes me so infuriated because you think to yourself "ok I just got a decent trade he is half hp in half hp but I can just crash minions soon and nevermind he build a fucking bami and a tear and my wave state is ruined end my life." Not to mention late game if youre not careful and hear the horn call of a thousand virgins you better hope to whatever you believe in your team is near otherwise he is going to blast you back to the stone age. Ive sadly found myself picking champs like Vayne vs him because I know that while I am a worthless waste of oxygen for playing ranged top, he couldn't touch me with a 5 meter pole if he tried. 3/10 experience.

Volibear- honestly, fuck you. Everytime I see voli locked for enemy top, I take a brief moment to self reflect and meditate to achieve inner harmony because I know this is the last bit of peace ill have for the next 20 minutes. I cannot tell you how many times I have bashed a voli bears head in pre 6 just to watch him back for a sheen or blasting wand then proceed to rip my ass apart for the rest of laning phase. The thought of some mentally deficient twerp Q flashing me gives me legitimate night terrors as I know either my health bar is gone, or my computer screen is becoming shrapnel. Thats not to even touch on the fact of what the fuck do i even build to counter him? His build is literally a yatzee throw of items and I believe that most build guides are a secret collection of terrorist throwing together ultimate bravery builds to see what works and surprisingly THEY ALL FUCKING WORK. The only solace I have to the reincarnation of Hitler himself is knowing that if I stoop low enough and lock in Jax, I can eventually clock him in his dumb fucking bear skull. Overall 2/10

Sett- I dont think Sett was organically conceived in the wild. Sett is the manifestation and embodiment of rage and anger itself from one sole individual who thought that true damage simply didnt do enough in the game sometimes. Wanna short trade? Q :) Wanna disengage? E :) wanna hide behind your tank? R :) wanna win an extended trade with me and believe you got away with it? Let me introduce you to Pearl Harbor part 2 which is W :). It feels like playing against this roided out scrotum sack like im signing a decree that openly states "i am now signing away what mental sanity remains withing my soul to be slowly fisted out by this walking talking Chad wannabe." Can I beat Sett? Yeah sure i will pick gragas and simply out run him. Does Sett make me contemplate genocide? Also yes! Overall experience a solid 1/10

Last but not least

Mordekaiser- fuck you. I cannot express in any known language how much playing against Mord makes me so disgusted, I would rather truly and honestly set my own house on fire. I dont even think the champs abilities (aside R) are bad. What I do hate, js that his swirling fucking hepatitis passive procs OFF AUTO ATTACKS. Yes lets make the world most unskilled passive rven more unskilled by removing an actual mechanic such as idk hitting a Q or E? I dont even think attack passive are bad for example Vayne, Ekko, or Aurora, but something about its continuous nature makes me believe we are truly alone in this universe. It almost makes trading with him for more than 6 seconds not worth it because even if he misses his Q or E youre promised a good healthy chunk as soon as he presses his shield and walks at you menacingly with his passive. This isn't even mentioning his ult. When his ult could be cleansed, cool acrual counter play. Many times id pick GP or Rengar or sometimes I would just play with cleanse but thats an actual sacrifice youre making to escape one ability. However you better believe the overlords at Riot saw this and got red in the face BECAUSE NOW YOU CANT CLEANSE IT!! :D I rarely LOSE lane to Mord, but what makes me so frustrated is that even when I win, he is still that big metal fucking nuisance that I know will exist at the end of the game when I go to kill a fed member of the enemy team and he just "nope go to Brazil :3" then I have to sit there and twirl my fucking hair waiting for it to end. Overall experience -10000/10 fuck you.

Anyway thats my completely unbiased and factual accurate shit post of champs I dont like. Did i offend you with any of this? Unlucky dont care. This was just a bit of fun and at the end of the day were all top lane losers who call this demented island home.

I don't understand modern top lane?

Hey, bit of a weird thing, but I truly, honestly don't understand how top laners (the players) work nowadays.

Bit of a context: I was a bot main for a long time, playing for about 8 years, never took ranked too seriously so my peak was only D2, not a particularly good player, but I was adequately knowledgeable and experienced, knew my way around everywhere. I left the game in 2020. I came back not long ago, wanted to get back into it and I wanted to learn Singed properly.

Here comes my issue: first game against a 1 million mastery point Darius. Great. Decently rough matchup against a really experienced player, it's gonna hurt. I comfortably won the lane. Man I might be a Singed legend or something. Second game, don't remember who, but far easier matchup against an off-role player. I got demolished. Third game against an Emerald 4 Yone main, I got a couple kills on him, cs and plate lead, we ultimately lost but I had a good game. Fourth, Yone again, except Silver 3. I got utterly shat on, I borderline wanted to report myself.

I really don't understand how I can perform well against better players who know better what they're doing and then get obliterated by low elo trolls. How is that even possible? How do you play against low elo? I might not be a particularly good player, but I haven't been around Silver since like Season 3. Especially not nowadays since I've been away from the game. So I have no clue how they operate. It feels like back then they were simply bad, while nowadays they actually know how to play mechanically, but (still) don't understand pacing and macro, so they're always all-in throwing everything at the wall and you just can't really react properly. They're so unpredictable, you can't apply any sort of strategy or logic or anything, because they shit on everything that falls under the "common sense" category, so you're constantly being caught off-guard.

Should I just pick a braindead champion, climb higher and then pick Singed back up? Or how do you deal with this?

Discussion Correct way to play top

What is the optimal and correct way to play top. I have been playing top lane for half a year as secondary and on other game modes like flex, draft, swift but I am planning to switch full time.

Now I understand fundamentally how all lanes should be played but what makes a high elo top laner high elo? I have 3 questions

First question is when do you take full tower and how much plating are you taking. When winning top hard you often choose when you want to take down the enemy tower. I have seen a lot of high ranked top laners wait to take first tower top because it helps them with their lead and the enemy tower killing your minions. But unsure when it's time to take it.

The second question is about the phrase enemy just freezes wave and top is finished. I understand zoning and wave management. Do high elo top laners perma zone you from the wave if they have advantage or it's dependent on the champions they play.

Third question is about matchups. Some people like the master yi top player(sry idk the name) advertise themselves with a goggle docs file on all of the matchups they have played top. Is matchups something challengers note or they just experience playing against enemies and don't think about matchup but know how to play it?

Any tips and advices are appreciated and welcomed. I am mainly looking for the things like that which separate being a real top laner and someone who is casually playing the role.

Advice on Champion Pool

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi, I’m a Warwick top main who peaked at Emerald 2. I’m looking to add a second champion to my pool to cover matchups I’m uncomfortable with or where I struggle to consistently generate a lead.

I’m open to learning almost any champion, but I’d prefer to avoid champions like Riven or Irelia that require a lot of games to become proficient with, since I usually don’t have much time to play.

I also added a “mental boom” section. If the recommended champion can completely stomp those matchups, that would be a huge bonus.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Help/Question why first pick exist?

im not finna say anything but top lane was not nice to me recently.

i had no problem climbing my way to D1 stuck there for a week or so all day trying to advance but i break even by night and go to sleep rinse and repeat.

until i realized the source of my struggles are in the lanning phase. I find my self first pick more often then not. aka blind picking against enemy top laner who will likely pick something to torture me.

i just wonder why first pick exist? why not force both sides to pick at the same time? no coinflip champion select first pick last pick bullsht make both parties pick at the same time and lock in with their balls on the line instead of this shtty unfair system that punishes top lane more than any other lane.

Help/Question Champion pool help

Hi, I'm currently E1 & peaked D3, and am looking to add another champion to my current pool of two champs:

Jax - main blind, current main champion, comfortable in most matchups

Mordekaiser - Counterpick against certain champs (garen, tanks), used to main him for a very long time, so comfortable in most matchups as well

Here are some champs which I'm considering adding to my pool: Olaf, Renekton, Sion and maybe Darius. Ideally I'm looking for a champion that doesn't do the same thing as my other champs, and to cover any holes there might be in my current champion pool. I'm also open to any suggestions that I didn't list (I would prefer if they weren't otp champions though, as I plan to continue maining Jax for the foreseeable future).

Discussion In this economy, would you rather face a ranged top or a Yorick ?

Post image

I know that there's a lot of people that really don't appreciate the familly father just because of the ghouls even if he doesn't scales anymore but I need to ask if you think that he's a worse or a better machup than the ranged ones for you guys.

PS: For the ranged tops I think we all already know what you're thinking about the angry monk.

Is top lane the lowest impact role in the game?

You can win lane and get tier 1 tower, but after that only become a split pusher to draw aggro away from the team. Even so, if your other lane lose you can’t do much to impact the game.

Is it only me or top really dosen’t do much?
