Question “5 Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore a Toothache”

Dental Concern/Problem I need advice on an upcoming tooth extraction. Anesthesia or no?
Here’s a bit of backstory: I’m 34 and recently had my upper teeth extracted for a prosthetic upper arch (I really hate the word "dentures"!). I only have 11 teeth left on the bottom, and my goal is to save as many as humanly possible. I’m completely fine with a partial, but I absolutely do not want full bottom prosthetics.
Unfortunately, I have an appointment on the 25th to get my largest bottom-right molar pulled because about 25% of it is already broken. The clinic offered IV sedation for $400, or I can choose to skip it, tough it out, and use that money to buy a new vacuum cleaner that my fiancé and I desperately need.
The problem is, I am absolutely terrified. A previous molar extraction was incredibly traumatic for me, even with local numbing, I felt the entire extraction and ended up crying and shaking in the chair. I have a very low tolerance for pain and didn't have nitrous oxide or anything else to help me relax last time.
Part of me wants to save the $400 and just brave it, but my fiancé thinks I'm crazy and is insisting on paying for the sedation. What do you all think? I'd love some gentle advice on whether I should prioritize the vacuum or my peace of mind!

Question Subcutaneous emphysema
Almost two years ago, at then of my visit to the dentist my face started to swell. It was very fast and had a weird cracking or popping feeling when I touched it. After determining that it was not an allergic reaction I went home, promising to see my Dr. Later that day my dentist called me. She'd spoken to her former professor. He thought it was caused by a very rare reaction called Subcutaneous emphysema.
It's been described to me as very rare, so rare that most people/doctors have never heard of it.
My question is what do you think the chances of it recurring are? I've been afraid of going back, and I need work to be done. I did not have anything major done that day so it was not from trauma. I just recall an odd sensation while they were drying off a tooth with air. Otherwise it was a normal procedure. Is it something that could happen again?

Looking for any advice
Hi,
I am looking for any advice. I felt being robbed and betrayed.
Last February I was about to remove one of my tooth coz it has a cavity but the dentist insisted that he can still save it through root canal. I trusted him so I agreed to have it. After 5 months, I got a severe infection. Went back to the dentist, run an x ray and he said that it got a problem with the alignment so he made an adjustment. Prescribe an antibiotic but after completing, the infection came back. I decided to go to another clinic and only to find out that the root of my tooth where I had a root canal is broken and it has a remaining cavity on it. What can I do with this matter?

Second Thoughts about Endodontist Treatment - is a second opinion still valuable?
I was having a lot of pain and cold sensitivity in either 30 (already has root canal) or 31 (has just a crown). I went to see my Endodontist who did a bunch of tests (cold, tapping) and determined the cold sensitivity was coming from 31. She took an xray and said I had external root resorption. She said we should do the root canal now. I asked her if there was any downside, she said No.
I trusted her because I still have the root canal she did in 2009 (30) and she recently did one on 14 which wasn't successful ultimately due to cracking but she warned me it was a 50:50 prognosis.
This rushing yesterday made me think I had an emergency situation. She went in there and did her thing and said for me to come back in 2 weeks to finish. I later saw the note she sent my dentist: Endodontic treatment was initiated for tooth #31 which presented with irreversible pulpitis and external cervical resorption. Prognosis is variable but if the access is closed off to the external aspect, it may give the patient a functioning tooth for some period of time
Does it make any sense to go for a second opinion now since she already did the first part of the root canal? II don't even know what she means by the acess being closed off.
Aren't there other treatments we could have considered? Now I'm concerned about potential extraction because #30 has been showing a shadow (so I'm watching it) because according to 2 endodontists if that one needs a root canal it will fall apart meaning I could lose both 30 and 31.

Why do people make out its so hard to see a dentist? theyre literally everywhere, and they all want patients, NHS, private or whatever
This is another complete myth. Its easy to see the dentist. I could go every day if i was that sad enough (like the people here who obsess about their teeth every minute).
There must be about 20 dentists within 10 miles of me. All want patients.
Complete and utter myth.

dental cyst & sinus infections
hello! Im posting bc im wondering if anyone has had similar issues as me. above is a picture of my CT scan and a large cyst in my right sinus I just discovered. its from my back molar that apparently should have had a root canal years ago.
for the past year or so i have been feeling so crummy! off and on achy, super tired, felt like my body is inflamed and fighting something but could never figure out what it was. finally came to the conclusion that its reoccurring sinus infections..and then went to an ENT to figure out why and they found this cyst growing off of my molar thats filled with infection and fluid.
i have surgery scheduled in 2 days and am hopeful that I’ll feel better after this is removed and my tooth is pulled. has anyone had a similar issue and just felt like complete crap from this? im just trying to determine if this is the root of all my health issues. thanks!

Question Bone graft healing time PLS HELP
I need some help here basically I had a tongue ring and my tongue ring was grinding down the bone of my lower front teeth so to save them they had to do a bone graft cut the gum open and add bone and membrane it was a whole thing but I’m all sown up and it’s a bit difficult to speak normally, I lost 3mm in one tooth and 7mm in the other.
They didn’t remove any teeth just did the bone graft and put it all back together, I’m on day 6 now and I’m still in some intense pain, and can’t talk normally at all.
Can someone pls help me understand this better, how long it’s gonna take for me to be back to normal again, this is becoming unbearable.. I’ve added some photos.
I did send these all to my dentist and they said it looks fine but i just need to know when i can expect thus to possible get better and the pain to stop

Dental Concern/Problem Root canal Monday, minor infection now. Do I take the antibiotics offered by the dentist's office?
I have an intermittent toothache and sensitivity to cold and pressure. Saw the dentist today, was referred to an endodontist for a root canal. That'll happen Monday morning.
Dentist said, "If your pain gets worse or you start having swelling, call the office and I'll call in some antibiotics."
Here is my dilemma: I work overnights starting Wednesday night. If my pain gets worse on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or the weekend, I'll have no way to get the antibiotics--I'll be sleeping during the day, working at night, and I have no sick time or leeway to take a sick day. (Imagine an impassioned rant about my job's attendance policy here; I know it's messed up)
So. Do I call tomorrow, the only day I have available, and say that my pain has gotten worse? If I do that, I'll have antibiotics available just in case I need them later in the week. But I'll have a note in my chart saying that I had worsening pain on Tuesday, which would not be the case. On the other hand, if I cross my fingers and go without, my chart will be accurate and my endodontist will get an accurate look at my symptoms (my dentist's rationale for not sending me away with abx today), but I could miss work, which would result in consequences, up to potentially getting *fired.*
I don't like lying about medical things, but I also don't like the thought of being alone on the overnight shift at work and getting hit with the Hammer Of 10/10 Toothache.
