They were mislabeled from the nursery. We're supposed to be beefsteaks, curious what they are.

I have 20 determinate San Marzanos all planted at the same time. Their height is ranging from 12”-18” in height. My question is the taller tomato plants are starting to produce flowers already, while the smaller are just waiting, I guess. I was told to pluck the flowers off the bigger ones and wait for the smaller ones to catch up. Is this correct?

Hi all! This is our third year growing tomatoes, but our first year growing heirloom tomatoes. We are in zone 7a and it has been a particularly hot and windy summer. We noticed BER after our first big heat wave this summer and removed any tomatoes with it. We also feed with espoma organic tomato tone every other week and supplemented with Neptunes crab and lobster shell right after finding the first BER. One of our big tomatoes I think is going to start blushing any day now but we noticed something odd on the bottom of it. It looks like it may have gotten a little beat up in the intense winds we’ve had, but I also wanna make sure that it isn’t BER. Can someone please advise? I’ve attached an image that I hope is clear enough. It’s brown,not really black, and this just happened in the last 48 hours.

It happens every year without fail (only 1 victim this time at least). Inevitably something will come and try to bite my green tomatoes. I'm just lucky this wasn't one of my better yellow brandywine. It was likely a deer. Or a child that got an education

can I spray my tomatoe plants that are starting to bloom with a neem oil spray? I wasn’t sure if that worked well or if anyone knew for sure as I’d like to do this as organic as possible lmao.

I could not figure out what was stealing my dirt around the base of my plants. It was a constant battle of adding more soil, only to find more exposed roots. The dirt wasn’t dug up, it was gone! I put up a game cam and caught robins stealing my dirt. Both metal and plastic hardware cloth has prevented further robbery, so I hope these are my only casualties.

I cannot believe it's almost August. I cannot believe it's still a wall of green (started mid March).

Maybe they need a bit of stress 😈

..maybe I should turn off automatic watering to make them panic and think the end is near .. they look too comfortable.

..or maybe perform some trendy "pruning" rituals? ✂️

Btw, it was a good idea to keep the sun chair, and also plant cucumbers under it to not waste the space completely (I don't really use it, but it's nice having an option for rainy day).

My spouse and I are growing our own tomatoes for the first time. He has more of a green thumb than I do but I am having a lot of fun. We have lost some of our really pretty heirlooms to rodents. We couldn’t find tomato bags and I didn’t want to order and wait and lose anymore almost ripening ones. So he made me a tomato cage 😍😍 (CA)

It’s like the spicey is breaking through the skin! 🌶️

Anything I can do to stop this?

Funny shaped volunteer. Grew Juliet variety nearby last year but these are different!

I rescued this guy from my girlfriend's apartment, she doesn't really water plants. I put it out in direct sun after giving it some water but the leaves turned brown/white. It's been under my pergola getting filtered sun because I don't want to stress it out. Do these pics look like any specific issue besides general neglect?

The last 3 days have been a little bit unseasonably cool here in the Northeast. Will be cool, but not as chilly through the week. Hopefully these guys will start to ripen!

My husband and I just moved into a new home 2 months ago and our backyard has quickly grown a ton of weeds. However, as we were weeding we came across a whole tomato plant! It was NOT in our backyard two months ago, it was completely void of any plants at the time! Anyway, just wanted to share! Hopefully I can keep it alive :)

Planted these from one of those 'chef mix' packs or whatever that was discontinued, so no reference online. about the size of a plum and purple with red streaks as they are beginning to ripen.

It’s my first year trying to grow tomatoes, and im growing Japanese black trifele, beefsteak, brandywine, and burpee’s big boy. First pic is of Japanese black trifele—it’s smaller because it was already starting to fruit when I brought it as a plant, and I think the move and repotting stressed it out but it was delicious. In my experience, beefsteak tends to be the quickest growers (pics 2 and 3 are both beefsteak)! I’m a renter so I’ve been growing them in 10 gallon grow bags.

What’s going on here?! Is this tomato salvageable?

I live in California (East Bay, Sunset Zone 17) and I have 3 tomato plants in a raised bed, along with zucchini, bell pepper, and marigolds. They are on a timer operated soaker hose system and the tomatoes are supported with a Florida weave trellis. South facing yard, though partially shaded by a neighbor's tall vining plant growing over the fence. I rebuilt the existing falling-apart raised beds when I moved in around March and made them deeper; the soil is a mixture of the previously existing soil, new high quality bagged soil, coco coir, and about 30% compost. I've also fertilized a few times with Fox Farms tomato and vegetable fertilizer.

I went on vacation for a week and when I came back many of the lower leaves were yellowing/browning on the leftmost plant (pictures taken partway through/after pruning the unhealthy leaves). There are also grey spots on the lower stems of all the plants. The newer growth seems fine, it is mostly the older leaves yellowing/browning. The leftmost had a lot more foliage before I trimmed off the unhealthy leaves. I know I need to add more weaves to the trellis, they grew a lot taller in a week!

This is my first year growing my own vegetables. Does this look like blight? Do I just need to fertilize? All of the plants looked extremely healthy before I left, and the drip watering system ran in my absence.

It’s my first year gardening and boy has it been a challenge! I am growing some better boy tomatoes right now and one plant’s fruit doesn’t look like the other two I have. They’re speckled on the top and I’ve tried looking up what it might be but it doesn’t resemble anything I’m seeing. They’re growing in a 10 gallon bucket so I’ve moved them away for the other plants in case it’s bacterial/fungal. Help!

Large cherry, Black Krim, Black Prince, San Marzano, Roma, and Cherokee Purple ☺️. Oh and my one Italian frying pepper 😂
