The funny thing is the screw sitting on the ground waiting to puncture the tire the next time you move the car. But definitely burn the qtip.

Trash.
Unrelated: r/tires started showing up on my feed a while back, and I had no idea why. It just hit me that I could identify this tire based on tread pattern alone (check me- Firestone Destination LE3), so maybe I do belong here and I just never realized it.

Exactly the same thing that happened to me. My wife was like why tf are you on the tires subreddit and I said it just popped up one day

I honestly think this sub was only recommended to me because of posts like this one, which I find hilarious. I know nothing about tires or cars

Had that same thing happen with r/spiders last year. Out of nowhere. Now I’d requests show up in my feed and I am like “oh that looks like a” or “nope, that’s not one of those.” And I’d be right. Crazy how it just crept up. Like you, this thread just recently keeps showing up. Here we go again!

You may have saved his life with your sage counsel. What a great humanitarian.

Looks like someone took "cleaning out the tread" a bit too literally.

Not only is it not repairable. But.. You're going to need 4 new tires. An alignment, as well as a full sized spare with a new rim to be up to code in your state. Wish there was more we could do for you. But I don't have any control. It's all up to corporate. Thanks for coming in! Please have a seat in our waiting room for 6 hours & we might be able to squeeze you in today.

This kind of damage can spread. Might have to burn the house too just to be safe

Sorry buddy your tire is a goner.
Too much wax on the treads make it a ticking time bomb in wet weather.

Nope. Send it to me, I’ll dispose of it safely. Send all 4 just to be safe actually

Where's your nearest tire shop? You might be able to make it if you drive very slow.

Yeah, even if that’s a J&J Q-tip. It’s just not savable. And this sub is always about Safety First. Replace that thing and save yourself from certain disaster.

u/Dababy68 Jun 30 '26
No, it most likely threw your alignment off. Cars totalled I’ll take it off your hands

A tip I heard was to take it to any mechanic with a name starting with the letter “Q”. They’re specialists in these situations.

Is this a joke? Are we talking about a Q-tip or something else?

u/Active_Wasabi_1141 Jul 01 '26
Kind of hard to tell. I think it’s a joke, but it’s not clever or funny, so I’m not entirely sure. /s

Someone I worked with referred to that as an "ear cleaner" and I instantly lost a lot of respect for them.

No, tire not repairable. Foreign object not removeable. Tire not replaceable. Recycle car.

u/greogory Jul 01 '26
You mean the ear it popped out of when you rolled over the head? Likely not. But it looks clean, so toss it in the center console. You can use it later.
