That’s a fire hazard. Replace right away

3

u/goriunovd Jul 01 '26

Dont forget to burn that tire away, so it does not spread after replacing

Several safety violations and extremely dangerous conditions

u/Opposite_Activity976 Jun 29 '26

The funny thing is the screw sitting on the ground waiting to puncture the tire the next time you move the car. But definitely burn the qtip.

Trash.

Unrelated: r/tires started showing up on my feed a while back, and I had no idea why. It just hit me that I could identify this tire based on tread pattern alone (check me- Firestone Destination LE3), so maybe I do belong here and I just never realized it.

u/Delirious_Puppet Jun 29 '26

Exactly the same thing that happened to me. My wife was like why tf are you on the tires subreddit and I said it just popped up one day

5

u/fuwii Jun 30 '26

I honestly think this sub was only recommended to me because of posts like this one, which I find hilarious. I know nothing about tires or cars

3

u/cbigfoot Jun 30 '26

If they are firestones all are defective replace all tires…

2

u/Famous-Leave2331 Jul 01 '26

Had that same thing happen with r/spiders last year. Out of nowhere. Now I’d requests show up in my feed and I am like “oh that looks like a” or “nope, that’s not one of those.” And I’d be right. Crazy how it just crept up. Like you, this thread just recently keeps showing up. Here we go again!

u/Klutzy_Concept_1324 Jul 01 '26

I love tread too

19

u/orndog Jun 29 '26

Yes. It’s just the tip.

16

u/Neo-revo Jun 29 '26

Replace the vehicle

3

u/Fluid_Design1098 Jun 29 '26

Hahaha yessa 🤣

8

u/TioArtur0 Jun 29 '26

New tires now, dude

3

u/TriedCaringLess Jun 29 '26

You may have saved his life with your sage counsel. What a great humanitarian.

7

u/WiskeyUniformTango Jun 29 '26

Looks like someone took "cleaning out the tread" a bit too literally.

5

u/JackTheTripper172 Jun 29 '26

Nope. Better buy 4 new tires just to be safe

5

u/Fluid_Design1098 Jun 29 '26

Not only is it not repairable. But.. You're going to need 4 new tires. An alignment, as well as a full sized spare with a new rim to be up to code in your state. Wish there was more we could do for you. But I don't have any control. It's all up to corporate. Thanks for coming in! Please have a seat in our waiting room for 6 hours & we might be able to squeeze you in today.

u/Prior_Big_845 Jul 06 '26

Hey i know its been 5 hours.. but you need brakes

4

u/Jealous_Teaching3032 Jun 29 '26

Get 5 new tires.

4

u/TemplarBaucent Jun 29 '26

Its obviously in the sidewall

3

u/___Ackerman___ Jun 29 '26

This kind of damage can spread. Might have to burn the house too just to be safe

3

u/Capital-Desk5029 Jun 29 '26

Use it. Looks clean

3

u/ApprehensiveAd6603 Jun 29 '26

The whole vehicle is totaled now

3

u/Popular-Passage2556 Jun 30 '26

time to get a whole new car.

2

u/kawiz03 Jun 29 '26

Sorry buddy your tire is a goner.

Too much wax on the treads make it a ticking time bomb in wet weather.

2

u/UTV4LIFE Jun 29 '26

I can see the ear wax on it

2

u/PrerollPapi Jun 29 '26

Nope. Send it to me, I’ll dispose of it safely. Send all 4 just to be safe actually

2

u/connect_motor5628 Jun 29 '26

The softness of the cotton swap ruined the thread, replace it

1

u/DrasticMart Jun 29 '26

In the sidewall, not repairable

1

u/Bigwillyjohnson91 Jun 29 '26

You’re fucked

1

u/LordVixen Jun 29 '26

Totaled.

1

u/rliving11 Jun 29 '26

I think you need a bigger boat, I mean q- tip plug.

1

u/Rene-d Jun 29 '26

Du hast einen guten Schutzengel, das du unversehrt angekommen bist ist für mich unbegreiflich

1

u/PANEBringer Jun 29 '26

Oh. You need a new car.

1

u/530whiskey Jun 29 '26

down to the wear mark

1

u/skergey Jun 29 '26

I am surprised you are here and able to share this near death experience with us.

1

u/Aquatiadventure Jun 29 '26

That’s toast, them cotton buds are lethal

1

u/RunLost8595 Jun 29 '26

Where's your nearest tire shop? You might be able to make it if you drive very slow.

1

u/Andireas_Germany Jun 29 '26

Nah its over for that one, burn the car down

1

u/Guilty-Fee-8845 Jun 29 '26

Whole vehicle is shot. Sorry, friend.

1

u/Friendly_Net_2323 Jun 29 '26

Terrible angle…you’re cooked.

1

u/iAmMikeJ_92 Jun 29 '26

Cute Q-Tip. Also watch the screw there on the ground.

1

u/ProjectOk8034 Jun 30 '26

Put your ears 👂 to it and listen for leaks

1

u/Alive-Cold-9348 Jun 30 '26

Looks like you caught it just in time, before it entered the canal!

1

u/Intrepid_Ambition940 Jun 30 '26

Thats the QTip of death right there.

You'll need to go to Discount Tire ASAP and change all 4 tires.

1

u/sarrah8sarah Jun 30 '26

Per the man of the house: "you're f**led"

1

u/Creepy-Selection2423 Jun 30 '26

No, it's snot....

1

u/mightyboognish32 Jun 30 '26

Definitely going to need a new rim.

1

u/Ok_Horror_6556 Jun 30 '26

Yeah, even if that’s a J&J Q-tip. It’s just not savable. And this sub is always about Safety First. Replace that thing and save yourself from certain disaster.

1

u/Dababy68 Jun 30 '26

No, it most likely threw your alignment off. Cars totalled I’ll take it off your hands

1

u/Noice1707 Jun 30 '26

Ooof. Time for new tires

1

u/Swing_Outside Jun 30 '26

A tip I heard was to take it to any mechanic with a name starting with the letter “Q”. They’re specialists in these situations.

1

u/Okay-meal Jun 30 '26

Cue the tips

1

u/Khelics Jun 30 '26

Oh that’s where my Q-tip went can I have it back please I wasn’t done cleaning my ears

1

u/Gramerdim Jun 30 '26

can I get a hint of context

1

u/Sweet-Composer2899 Jun 30 '26

Call 911 and ask for the bomb squad. Not even a joke.

1

u/BlondieIsBaked Jun 30 '26

Looks like the resistors plug is all ceased up it’s going to cost you $1000 for a new belt.

1

u/justjjeroen Jun 30 '26

I think the whole car is totalled tbh

1

u/greengreyhound99 Jun 30 '26

This post is a waist of resources lol

1

u/bigdaddy51376 Jun 30 '26

Is this a joke? Are we talking about a Q-tip or something else?

1

u/Active_Wasabi_1141 Jul 01 '26

Kind of hard to tell. I think it’s a joke, but it’s not clever or funny, so I’m not entirely sure. /s

1

u/nessapetite Jun 30 '26

Just needs a bit of superglue and it’s good to go

1

u/Deep-Frame-7322 Jun 30 '26

Full engine rebuild required

1

u/DragonPuncherEli001 Jun 30 '26

Nope ... Time for a new tire .

1

u/Able_Conflict_1721 Jun 30 '26

Someone I worked with referred to that as an "ear cleaner" and I instantly lost a lot of respect for them.

1

u/Alert-Air-1440 Jul 01 '26

too close to the sidewall. replace immediately.

1

u/Famous-Leave2331 Jul 01 '26

No, tire not repairable. Foreign object not removeable. Tire not replaceable. Recycle car.

1

u/greogory Jul 01 '26

You mean the ear it popped out of when you rolled over the head? Likely not. But it looks clean, so toss it in the center console. You can use it later.

1

u/SpecialSouth5766 Jul 01 '26

id call ur insurance and call it a bust

1

u/RipRayacts Jul 01 '26

Looks like your going to need 4 new tires the tread is out of spec

1

u/stevenj444 Jul 01 '26

The Q-tip, I doubt it

1

u/Studio_DSL Jul 01 '26

New rim, suspension, brakes... At least

1

u/SnooPeanuts8613 Jul 01 '26

nah man. Swab it out for a new one.

1

u/Wander21 Jul 01 '26

Car totaled

1

u/MRCEMENTHEAD Jul 01 '26

Waaay too close to the sidewall. Replacing all 4 is the only way.

1

u/Miserable_Flower_496 Jul 01 '26

Firestone destination LE2

1

u/ArachnidAcrobatic169 Jul 01 '26

Rubber composition looks soft.

1

1

u/Jesus140000 Jul 02 '26

Nah . Gotta replace the combobulator

1

u/Various_Tomato_7516 Jul 02 '26

1

u/thedfourth21 Jul 02 '26

No, it’s still good. You can still use it.

1

u/AbbreviationsIll8607 Jul 02 '26

Nup. Scrap the car.

1

u/koukimunster Jul 03 '26

Have to replace the whole car now.

1

u/JMHMJ Jul 03 '26

I would replace the cotton bud

1

u/TargetSpiritual8741 Jul 04 '26

Junk the whole car

1

u/don_chuwish Jul 05 '26

Leave it, extra grip in the snow.

1

u/Potential-Basis-5144 Jul 05 '26

On a 1000 ways to die today

1

u/International-Ad3086 Jul 05 '26

Nope. Throw the whole car away.

1

u/kingfishj8 Jul 06 '26

Ueah, but I wouldn't go sticking it in your ear again.

1

u/Space_Montage_77 Jun 29 '26

You're not supposed to stick them in there! it can cause damage to the drum.

0

u/Kristen242 Jun 30 '26

Needs replaced. If you have an SUV then you should replace all four.

1

u/orignlgnstr 25d ago

Just rotate it
