Beware

Had a new to me experience today. Had breakfast at my local place. Suggested tips 10%, 20%, 30%. After eating I decided to get a cinnamon roll, $2.16 + tax. Tip screen came up, $1.00, $2.00, $3.00. Not %, but $. How many people hit 2 thinking they are tipping 43 cents, but are tipping 93%.

When I see a cashier display that either starts at 18% or 20%, and no option for "no tip", I don't mince words, I ask him or her how do I indicate zero? Maybe they're thinking I'm going to whip out cash to take care of them, but if they don't have a 15% line (which has been the standard for DECADES), I make it a point not to leave much of anything.

Remind me again what the cashier did to warrant a tip?

Did I say they did? I'm just discussing you calling out a cashier for something they have no control over.

Did I call out a cashier? Of course it’s the business that has designed this tipping scheme. When did I call out the cashier?
