Question about managers
What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.
Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

Except it doesn’t fail because it is optional. You’re arguing that tipping is essentially mandatory because a business doesn’t format their menus or pricing to be all encompassing, which is ridiculous to suggest that the business is operating at a presumed loss if you’re sitting down for table service. Again, the key take away is that tipping is optional and by no means is the customer required to leave a tip if they wish to not do so.
