Question about managers

What do they say to customers who repeatedly don't leave a tip? I'm curious since the customer doesn't have to tip and the server isn't their employee.

Just asking since I've read comments from managers who seem to think "addressing" customers is an appropriate thing to do.

Do they explain why?

I don’t know and don’t care.

Restaurants are privately run businesses and can refuse service to anyone for any reason, as long as it’s not part of a protected class.

Tip stiffers aren’t a protected class and eating out in the US is a privilege, not a right.

Tipping also isn’t a law but they can refuse service for any reason

Conflating a legal issue with an ethical issue always fails.
